Puppies are a lot of fun, but also a lot of responsibility! Things you should be aware of before adopting a puppy from the Denver Animal Shelter:* Puppies will need regular socialization. The critical time period for socialization is between 8 and 16 weeks, but it is important to continue to socialize your new pup throughout their young life. This means having positive and enjoyable interactions with as many new people, new dogs, and new environments as possible. Appropriate socialization will help puppies grow into healthier and more social adults.* They will not know what is appropriate to chew on, where they should go to the bathroom, and how to behave in all situations. Puppies require a lot of time spent on training, management, and supervision. It is recommended that puppies be crate trained or kept in a puppy-proofed room of the house with appropriate chew toys and enrichment when not actively supervised. The Denver Animal Shelter always recommends positive reinforcement-based training methods. * Puppies in a shelter environment often have unknown parentage. While we make our best guesses on size and breed, we cannot guarantee their adult temperament, behavior, size, or characteristics.

Story
Meet Charlie, the Yorkie with the biggest bounce in town. While most dogs fetch sticks, charlie launches into the sky like a furry little rocket—clearing couches, doggie doors, and any barrier between him and the people he loves! While we don't know a lot about Charlie's past, we suspect Charlie belonged to a breeder and at the moment is soaking up all of the attention and love that he has never had, with that being said he is your typical Velcro dog, wanting to be right next to his people. He is learning how to be an inside dog and does great with both small and big dogs, Charlie has a tail that wags at warp speed, he doesn't just walk into a room—he leaps into it, paws first, like a superhero in a bowtie. Watch out world get ready to have your heart stolen by this cute boy!  If you would like to adopt, please complete an application  at https://www.circle2rescue.com/dog-adoption-application/  The adoption fee of $350 includes the spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming and microchip.   ##2423350##

Little Luke is a super sweet boy, who loves nothing more than to play and be with you! He is a bit shy at first but is full of cuddles and love once he gets to know you!!! He does great with other dogs in her foster home, is non reactive around cats, and is doing great with crate training. Since he is just a youngster still, he will need a family with lots of patience and willingness to work with puppy training to help him become the best canine citizen he can be!

Story
Little Barton, a 5 year old 6 pound yorkie, is as sweet as can be! Barton loves a calm household, toys, and endless naps on the couch. He's a sweet, easy little dog who is waiting for a loving, patient home. Barton gets along well with other small dogs or would do great as an only dog. He walks well on a leash and is easily treat motivated. Barton is not fully potty trained but he wears a belly band easily during the day with no problem. With a little patience and a lot of love, this fella would make an amazing companion. He’s teeny tiny, silly, and ready for a home of his own. Apply to meet him today!

Story
Hunni is 6 1/2 year old Maltese Mix who we just love so much. 3 years ago Hunni was diagnosed with IVDD. She is still active loves to play with other pets, loves kids and all humans in general. She is very sweet but a little timid due to her IVDD in her lower back and hind legs. She does walk still but cannot jump on the couch and can still manuver a few stairs. The vet said surgery is an option but very expensive. We treat any flair up with Meloxicam that is prescribed by the vet. It has worked very well. Because of the fact that our work schedules have become very long and busy. I need to rehome Hunni with someone who can give her the love and attention she needs. Hunni is poty trained and will let you know when she needs to go but she needs to be let out to use the bathroom frequently to avoid an accident. We can no longer do that because of our work schedules. She still has alot of life in her and just needs that one person that we use to be able to be.
