Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Rescued dogIf you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Leo, and I am a little Yorkie boy who is 8 years old, and I weigh 6 pounds. I need an all-adult home with one full-time parent and a sibling my size to learn from would be ideal. If you have been waiting for a sweet Yorkie boy, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Love, Leo 061723-13  December 4, 2023, 12:42 pm

Story
Eddie is a wonderful, but older, dog who needs a loving home with someone who is willing to help him with special needs. He's 13 years old and very loving, but he has a level 2 heart murmur which has been stable for three years, thanks to some medication. He also is picky with his pet friends - he gets along with most cats and dogs, but will occasionally antagonize cats. Eddie is a loving dog and a great companion who prefers snuggling on the couch over a day hike, maybe he would feel comfortable on your couch? We want to rehome him because one of our cats has developed a chronic illness, and he has started to antagonize her. He has been through Dumb Friends League twice, and we don't want to bring him back a third time. Unfortunately, we do not want to sacrifice the life quality of our other pets in order to accommodate him, so we would like to find someone who is interested in providing him a forever home.

Story
Hi there! I'm Pecan, a 3-year-old male Yorkie mix. I'm a sweetheart who loves cuddling, going for walks, and exploring the yard. While I haven't met any dogs in Colorado yet, I got along well with them during my time at the shelter. I haven't encountered little kids, but I prefer a calm and stable environment since I'm not a fan of too much noise or sudden movements. I'm quite vocal and like to let others know I'm around—I've got a lot to say! I'm up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. If you're looking for a charming companion, apply to meet me today! Story
0623201 - Who is looking for a stage 5 clinger?  Then Sky is your girl, she is super affectionate and wants to be by her people at all times. She is about 1.5yo and some type of terrier mix.  She walks great on a leash, is happy to go with you on car rides, is a great couch potatoe or lap dog, and tolerates other small dogs but would be perfectly happy as an only dog.  She isn't a big fan of big dogs but would probably do fine with a mellow one... the husky in her foster home she will probably be glad to be rid of, haha.  Sky doesn't love to be left alone so someone that is retired or work from home would be ideal for her, but she can be left home alone for short periods of time.  She will crawl under the covers to sleep with you at night and likes to wear a sweater when the weather is chilly.  She is also house trained.  If you are ready for an a forever pal, unconditional love, and lots of little sloppy (not too sloppy) kisses then Sky is your gal, please complete an application at www.sloppykisses.org/adoptions!  ##1774980##

Story
From Foster: Kippa is a 2yr old female with so much love to give. She enjoys belly rubs, back scratches and lots of affection. She gets along great with other dogs and cats as well and enjoys her walks and does great on her leash. She is a loyal companion and will follow you everywhere you go. Kippa was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.   We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##1879304##

Story
Indio could be that dream come true dog for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft, super-loving and very sweet companion. There's no question that Indio would also do well with a younger family with gentle older kids who enjoy the fun and positive energy that a sweet and very loving dog brings to a family. Indio has had a hard time in his short life without lots of love and nurturing, but not for him to be negative or sad. He's a very positive spirit that, once comfortable in his environment, is very happy go lucky and so much fun. Farfel's is very committed to placing Indio with a family that derives great joy from showering a beautiful and super- sweet dog with nothing but love and kindness. Once comfortable in his environment, Indio enjoys playing and is so entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and sharing the pure love that lives inside his heart. Indio's story is all too common in his close call to euthanasia due to lack of space at a scary, high-kill Texas shelter but who could ignore his adorable manner, gorgeous good looks and the huge potential he has? Our compassionate rescuer recognized all these wonderful qualities in Indio and brought him to safety. Farfel's was immediately contacted and we were thrilled to accept this beautiful Maltese / Yorkie mix (Morkie) into our rescue. Indio can be initially unsure, but give him some time (a soft belly rub and yummy treats are very helpful) and he inches closer and closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you up with a soft kiss and a happily wagging tail. Indio's awesome Texas rescuer is certain that there is a Colorado family that will love this little dog like crazy and want to make him a permanent member of their family. Indio will do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and at 11 lbs is so portable that he can be an active part of any adventure. It can be a walk through the Colorado mountains, a visit with friends, a car ride, vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch. All of these activities would speak to Indio's excellent temperament and love of spending time with his family. We aren't open to a situation where family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Indio to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Since Indio is just a young guy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Indio will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement / force-free virtual or in-person training classes. This training will make a profound difference in a young dog's ultimate adult behavior and in his relationship/bonding with his people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's is happy to supply a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. Indio has a stunning cottony-soft, non-shedding scruffy coat that will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are recommended for general longevity and coat care). With this regimen, Indio's coat will always be cottony-soft, shining and gorgeous with good health. Indio has been fully vetted and vaccinated to fulfill our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. We've requested that Indi be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Indio's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Boulder if one of our rescue vets is used. Indio will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 12/13/2023. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend please fill out our application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** Farfel's Rescue makes every effort to place our dogs with families that are excellent matches. We do this through our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com (never through rescue site apps such as Adoptapet or Petfinder as they don't provide enough information). If you're truly interested in adopting Indio please be sure to fill out the Farfel's Rescue adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
