Story
ABOUT BEAR Bear is a 6-year-old Yorkie boy hoping for a fresh start. He came to HAP when his owners were no longer able to care for him, and sadly, he arrived in rough shape. Bear was suffering from severe dermatitis, eye and ear infections, and significant obesity. While he is now on a weight-management plan and his skin is slowly but surely clearing up, his eyes were damaged beyond repair, and he required the enucleation of both eyes. Now, Bear is a sweet, resilient boy who’s navigating the world with fresh eyes, just not in the way he once did. Bear is learning to explore life through his other senses. Each day brings progress, as he’s steadily figuring out his surroundings, bumping into fewer things as his confidence grows. Since everything in the world is still so new, Bear will thrive in a patient, understanding home that’s committed to keeping his environment safe and predictable. While he was in constant pain before surgery, his discomfort sometimes caused him to act out. Now that he is all healed up, Bear has been well mannered and sweet with our team! Since he's blind, it's important that an adopter is willing to take things slow with him. For example, if someone suddenly grabs him unexpectedly, he may snap out of fear. However, talking to him and letting him know you are there helps reassure him everything is okay! Despite all he’s been through, Bear’s gentle spirit shines. He loves treats, and will happily sniff them out from across the room, and he’s been enjoying enrichment activities like snuffle mats that let him use his sharp nose. He also adores being talked to; he’ll tilt his head sweetly as he listens, taking in every word. While belly rubs aren’t really his style, he’ll gladly relax beside you and soak in some soft, reassuring pets. Bear is brave, loving, and doing his best to adjust. With patience, kindness, and a calm environment, he’ll continue to blossom into the wonderful companion he’s meant to be! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
Oliver is a 7 year old neutered male yorkie mix who weighs 7 pounds. He came to us from another shelter when they were at capacity, but wanted to get these guys to safety. They were surrendered from a condemned home and we cannot imagine what they have been through. Oliver is super friendly, adorable and loves to be held, but while at his foster home, he prefers to be the center of attention. While he has tested good with other dogs, he would do best as the only dog in his home due to jealousy when other dogs are getting attention. Story
Alf is an almost 9 year old neutered male yorkie who weighs 13 pounds. He came to us from another rescue and we hope he gets scooped up quickly! Alf is a fun little guy who was a stray originally. One of his back legs is missing some toes and he is shy to approach, so we cannot imagine what he has been through. Once Alf is being held, he loves attention, treats are the way to his heart and he is great with other dogs. Parker is a 6 month old neutered male yorkie who weighs 10 pounds. He came to us from another rescue when they did not have space, but wanted to get them to safety. These pups are as cute as they come and love attention. They come when called, have never lived in a home before and need understanding families. They have tested great with other dogs, are crate trained and rode well in the car. Story
Oscar’s a 6yo 14lb Yorkie. He’s dog and kid 14+ friendly. He chases cats. He’s house and crate trained. He’s good in a secure fenced yard and going on harnessed leashed walks. He likes to play with chew toys, other dogs and cuddle on the couch with his people. He can be lively, alert and doesn’t miss anything but can also chill with his people or another dog. He likes going on car rides and is well behaved. He can get barky with noises and when left alone. He is food motivated so is best to feed separated from other dogs and use a slow feeder. Oscar’s foster requires a single, family home with another small friendly dog, be allowed on furniture to cuddle along with leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working on training. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Oscar as all dogs should have at least 2 weeks in their new home with just their people who live in the home and to not have people over for at least 2 weeks. Dogs need time to settle in and adjust to their new people and environment first so they can learn to trust them first. Oscar’s neutered, vaccinated, HW negative and microchipped. Currently in Phoenixville, PA. If your home meets the needed requirements and you’re interested in applying to adopt please do so at www.tprescue.org
