Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi, I’m Erin! I’m a 7-year-old Yorkie, and I weigh 9 pounds. I’m still learning what it means to be loved and cared for by humans, but I’m trying my best every day. I’m a little scared and shy, but I’ve found comfort in following the resident dog here. She’s helping me figure out how to live in a home. I like to copy what she does—it makes me feel safe.  And I'm learning that I'll need a doggo sibling in my furever home.   Sometimes I spin in circles when I’m feeling anxious, but I also do it when I’m excited for mealtime! I’ve learned to love cozy spots, like soft blankets, dog beds, or curling up in my foster mom’s lap. That’s probably my favorite place to be. I feel safest when I’m close to her, and I tend to follow her around the house. I do prefer women and get a little nervous around men or lots of noise. I’m still figuring out what toys are, but I’ve tried chewing on a bone a few times after watching my doggy friend do it. Potty training is something I’m working on, and I’m getting better with being in my crate. I only bark sometimes, mainly when I hear people moving around, but it doesn’t last long. I need a calm, loving home with another dog who can help me continue to learn. I’m still not comfortable walking on a leash, so a fenced yard is required. I know I’m a bit of a work in progress, but with patience and love, I’ll keep getting better every day. If you have a quiet home and another dog, I’d love to be a part of your family! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi, my name is Josh, and I’m a loving Yorkie who's 6 years old. I weigh around 5 pounds.  I have a little bit of a medical situation that requires some special care, but my foster family says I’m worth it. I have been diagnosed with protein-losing enteropathy (PLE), which means I need to follow a special veterinary prescription diet and eat 3-4 times a day. I also need B12 injections every 2-4 weeks, which I take like a champ. Because I don't have any teeth, I can only eat soft food (my prescription food is a yummy wet food), and I may need a face clean-up after each meal. I'll need to stay on my special diet and keep getting these injections for the rest of my life, but it doesn’t stop me from being the sweetest dog ever! So beyond my medical issues – I need you to know that I LOVE snuggling! My favorite thing in the world is to curl up on a heated blanket and snuggle with my foster parents and my little foster brother. I’m super attached to my foster mom and always want to be in her lap or in her arms! I am still learning how to be a dog, and I copy my foster brother's behavior (good and bad!). I get anxious when I’m left alone, so I need another small, mellow dog in the home for company. Another dog will give me confidence and learn to trust people. I get a little worried around new people. The commotion that comes with kids tends to scare me and I might nip. I really prefer grown up humans.  There are other dog things that I am working on. I don’t like being in a kennel. It scares me, and I will cry until I’m let out, so I’ll need help and patience learning about the crate. We are also working on leash training and potty training, but brrrrr, it is so cold outside, so I haven’t practiced much. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home since I am not leash trained. Despite my little quirks, I am the absolute best snuggler ever. I could snuggle all day long and be completely happy. I sleep a lot and, once I bond with you, I’ll be one of the most loyal companions you could ever ask for. If you have a calm, small dog and can give me the attention and care I need, I’d love to be your forever friend! Hello! This is Lord Skippington, but we just call him Skippy. He is a sweet boy, but has his quirks. He does like to bark especially when someone arrives or one of the resident dogs barks. He is good with most dogs, but not all. He doesn't like dogs that are in his face. I haven't personally seen him around kids, but his last foster said he was good with them. He will go potty outside, but he does mark, therefore he wears a belly band in the house. He likes to relax on the couch, but also gets little spurts of energy and likes to play. He's very lovey and likes to give kisses. He sleeps with me, and he sleeps very well. He is small and fun and will be a great companion for someone. Are you his new family? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $575.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 14, 2025, 10:14 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. When the sun hits just right, this 11 pound Yorkshire poodle mix finds his perfect spot, basking in its warmth. He's an excellent walking companion – steady, matches your pace, and is non reactive to other dogs. Back scratches are his absolute weakness, and he'll communicate exactly how and where he wants to be petted with his expressive eyes.   A cozy bed, a warm patch of sunlight, and filet mignon are his idea of pure happiness. Whether you're looking for a quiet companion to share peaceful moments or a loyal friend who'll greet you with soft enthusiasm, Brody could be your perfect match.   Give this sweet boy a chance, and he'll fill your home with love, warmth, and the kind of companionship that only comes with years of wisdom and gentle spirit. Note: Brody was last vaccinated in 2019 for Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella. Shortly after receiving these injections, he became ill and was having difficulty breathing. The vet suspected an allergic reaction to one or more of the vaccines but was unable to determine which one due to being vaccinated with multiple injections at the same time. Based on the history of highly likely, severe vaccine reaction, it is recommended that he not be vaccinated again. Titering for Rabies and Distemper going forward is the best course of action to determine that he is still protected from these diseases. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello there! My name is Coco, though I am listed as Morgan. I was a stray, and although my previous owner was aware I was at the shelter, they chose not to bring me home. I'm estimated to have been born around January 27, 2019, and I weigh between 12-15 lbs. Initially, I was believed to be a Yorkie mix, but my foster mom suspects I might be a Lhasa Apso mix. I get along wonderfully with other dogs and cats, and I enjoy meeting new people. I think I’d be happy with any family that gives me lots of love and attention in return for mine. Thank you for considering me!
