I take a while to warm up to new people, and I’m still unsure about my foster family, but I’m learning to trust them. My foster mom says I’m getting better, and with gentleness and patience, I even let her hold me every day! Oh, and I’m a bit of a foodie—I love a good meal, and I love my treats. I really brighten up when I smell something tasty! Food is definitely the way to my heart. I like other dogs, especially those around my size. I’m still not quite sure about playing, but I love to snuggle and hang out with other four-legged friends. My foster family hasn’t introduced me to cats yet. I’d do best in an adult-only home, or in a home with calm, older kids who will be patient with me. New things scare me, and I might try to run and hide if my humans are too exuberant! I am crate trained, and I feel safe and cozy there. I’m working on my potty training, and I’ve figured out that if I bark at the door, my foster family will let me outside to do my business. I also do well with a schedule. I really like my fenced back yard, and since I haven’t been leash trained yet, I get most of my zoomies out there. Plus, the fence keeps unexpected, scary things away. I’m Bourbon, a very handsome adult male Yorkie. I don’t play with toys, but I enjoy gazing out the window, saying hello to visitors or other dogs, getting praises, sitting close to my people (although I’m not much for cuddling), and I LOVE running super-fast zoomies in the yard so I will need a fence. To tell ya the truth, I am an incredibly shy/skittish boy. I mean I’m very cautious of men; I’m reluctant to go up/down steps; I freeze when on the leash; and I don’t like loud noises, commotion, and sudden movements so kids are not a good fit for me. Additionally, I have a sensitive stomach so foster mom currently gives me a probiotic and acid reducer and though I don’t know if I will need them long term, they seem to be helping now. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.     Do you want someone to snuggle up next to you?  I’m an expert.  It took me a few days here to warm up to my new surroundings but I’ve discovered how nice it feels to be loved and I’m not going back.  So much so that when they tried putting me in a kennel at bedtime, I began my high pitched yodeling and lo-and-behold, I was allowed into the bed and now there’s no going back. Additionally, I am not a big fan of the kennel when my people leave the house either. They have been letting me roam in the house and I really try to do my best to be a good boy and not leave them “surprises” to find when they get home. I am still a bit nervous and sensitive to loud sounds and fast movements so I probably wouldn’t like the fast energy of little children. Foster mom let me decide when I wanted snuggles at first as opposed to always being picked up and dragged around. And now that I’m comfortable and feel safe, I enjoy the rides and all the loving.  I do want to share with you how smart I am! I was really hesitant to go up and down the stairs when I first arrived, but have quickly mastered both up and down AND have figured out how to jump on the couch to be near my people. So scoot over and make room for me next to you! I have also figured out what to do with toys and enjoy soft toys and will even tug on the fringe of a blanket. Oh oh! My people said that I am good about getting redirected so don’t worry. As for potty training, I’m working on it and do well on a good schedule.  We can work on that together. I recently started playing with toys and have a special little stuffed animal that I will carry around. I love toys that I can pull things out of and really enjoy parading my found treasure around to show how proud I am that I got it! So if you are up for a lap dog, I’m your dude.  I’m also observant and will progress really quickly with some training.  That’s where I’ll become more confident.  All I need now is a patient and loving family to call my own! *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. At home, it took some time, but I've really settled in and love nothing more than snuggling up with my humans. I may be small, but I've got a big heart, especially when it comes time to spending time with my people on the couch. Recently I have started to play with toys. And I have also discovered the great secret of treats – I love a yummy snack or nibbling on bones. I admit I'm not a fan of loud noises but could be in a forever home with kids if they are calm and gentle. I would thrive in a quiet home where I can continue to gain confidence and build a trusting relationship with my people. I also need another dog in my forever home – having a confident and social furry friend will help me get on a routine, learn to be a dog and be brave. Oh, and did I mention I'm almost potty trained? With a little more practice, I'll have it down pat! Want to know a little secret? I was a bit afraid of grass when I first arrived and have been going potty on the concrete patio. And while I'm a pro at crate training at night, especially when my kennel is near my people. But I'm not a fan of being cooped up during the day, I have turned into a little escape artist so I get a little freedom while my people are away. I am still working on leash training, so I need a fence in my forever home. There are so many “dog” things I am learning, so a little time and patience will be key for me. Overall, I'm a sweet little girl who's ready to find her forever home. I may be small, weighing in at just 9 lbs, but my heart is as big as can be! I absolutely adore being held and cuddled, and I could spend hours sitting on your lap or snuggled up next to you. Belly rubs? Oh, they're my absolute favorite! Just give me some pets, and I'll be your best friend forever. At home, I get along great with my furry siblings, both resident pups and other foster friends. I haven't met a pup I don't like.  I'm still working on being comfortable when left alone, so I might get a little vocal, but I'm making progress every day!  I let my foster mom know I don't like it when she leaves but it doesn't take long and I lay down and take a nap.  My ideal forever home is with someone that is home a lot so I don't get worried.   I think it would be fun having some human siblings that want to play with me.  I am very gentle and love everyone.   When it comes to treats, I'm not too picky—I'll gobble up anything you give me! But my favorite thing in the world? Being held close and showered with love. As for potty training, well, let's just say I'm still figuring it out but I have made huge progress with going potty outside.  I sometimes even go to the door and let me foster mom know I have to go potty.  I hate to say it but I still sometimes use potty pads, but my foster mom is helping me learn to go outside like a big girl.  And speaking of learning, I've made some huge strides with crate training! Eating in my kennel used to freak me out, but now I'm starting to feel more comfortable.  In fact at meal time I run to my kennel as fast as I can.  I love meal time!!.  I have also learned how nice and relaxing it can be to take naps in my kennel.      My foster mom is happy to report I am doing great at leash training.  I really enjoy going for walks with my other furry friends.  I especially love it when we see other pups on our walks.  I want to play with everyone!  My foster mom thinks I don't hear as well as I should.  I only hear very loud noises. Having a home with another pup would be helpful for me.  I learn so much more from watching them.    Overall, I'm just a sweet, cute, and loving girl who's ready to find her forever family. Hi My name is Jojo From his foster: Jojo is a sweet, old man! He's lived a long life, so he knows what he likes and doesn't like! He loves attention but he doesn't like sharing it! He's been known to get a little snarly when his foster brother gets scratches from the humans! What can he say, Jojo loves to be the center of attention!! He's a great lap dog. Jojo is not a big fan of his crate, but does love to be left home alone with his foster brother! If he isn't with another dog he will howl and howl! Because of this, he would do best with another furry friend in the house. The furry friend should be smaller, non-reactive, and submissive. He hasn't been tested with cats, but I think he would prefer to be without them. He's got a very high prey drive and barks at pretty much anything he sees that isn't a dog his size! He is not a fan of big dogs either, but could possibly warm up to them with slow intros. He loves to snuggle up with his person and sleeps a lot. He enjoys walks outside, but he's definitely not running buddy! Jojo has arthritis and does best when he can be active but nothing too strenuous. He has a bit of a difficult time with stairs and often falls while using them due to a weak hip. Because of this, he would do best in a house with very few stairs. Jojo has cataracts in both eyes which limits his vision. He cannot see in the dark and becomes very afraid. We carry him when it is dark, and he should not be by stairs when it is dark. Jojo wears belly bands inside when left alone for more than an hour or so. He's got an elderly bladder! He sometimes has poo accidents inside too. Jojo has some health concerns that we are keeping an eye on. He has fatty masses, hair loss, and low pressure in his eyes. He has allergies of some sort that seem to be slightly improved with Apoquel. The vet says he will need a dental cleaning and probably some extractions. To sum it all up, Jojo's ideal forever home would include: -One other small dog in the home (dog must be willing to let Jojo rule the roost and get all the attention he wants!) -Limited stairs or ability to block them off -Someone willing to follow up with his medical needs -A family who loves to cuddle! Overall, he is a special and sweet boy! He is a big time snuggler and will give you all his love!

Hi! My name is Sebastian and I am from Minnesota. From the foster: Sebastian is a sweet old man. He's very active for his age but also enjoys a good nap. He LOVES to have his head and ears scratched and will insist you continue scratching. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and runs with them to announce the arrival of the mail carrier. He has small tennis balls that he likes to chase and play with. Sebastian loves his dog beds and will also rest in his crate. He doesn't jump up on furniture but likes to be picked up and put next to you on the couch for some pets and scratches. He loves to be outside and is good about eliminating outside when put outside but doesn't have a signal to go out. He wears a belly band to help prevent messes inside. We haven't gone on walks outside but when the weather warms up he may enjoy neighborhood strolls. He gets very excited when his foster mom puts on shoes - hoping to go for an adventure. He had a dental the beginning of February and is now a toothless wonder with the cutest 'tongue out' smile. The good news is he no longer has mouth pain and there is no need for expensive dentals in the future! Sebastian had surgery to remove bladder stones and will need to be on a prescription diet to prevent the bladder stones from re-forming. He likes his prescription kibble but does yearn for table scraps (sadly, no!). Although Sebastian is older he still can hear! And, the really amazing thing is that he is a good listener! Is a calm, gentle, older pup what's missing from your current adventures? Sebastian loves to meet new friends! Medical Bio: "Hi, I'm Sebastian, a senior sweetie looking for my forever home! I had a few medical struggles while I have been with The Bond Between that my future adopters should be aware of before taking me home. I had a mass that needed evaluation and it was determined that I needed a dental procedure. During my first few weeks in my foster home I also started to show concerning urinary symptoms such as blood in my urine. It was determined that I had crystals and stones in my bladder. I had an urgent surgery to address the stones as well as get the mass removed. The initial cytology showed cells that were consistent with a cancerous mass. After this surgery I was started on a urinary diet that I will need to be on for a minimum of another month or as much as lifelong to manage any further possible urinary complications/stone formation. The mass was fully removed with good margins and The BB Vet is confident that this is a curative measure for this type of mass. My future adopter should monitor me for any further masses that may arise and have them evaluated by a primary care veterinarian. My dental procedure took place in February and I have been doing well ever since! Hope to meet some new people soon to find my forever home in my golden years!"

Although we do share in common the love of being the boss (which is different from being bossy!) I am a happy little girl who loves life, toys and watching TV.  While you may prefer a good crime show, I like the Dog Whisperer, or something that has dogs on it so I can run up to the TV and get a closeup view.  I even like being in the fenced yard where I will run all around and even approach people walking by or something in the woods.  I won’t bark at them, but I do want them to notice me and my cute little self.  So I wag (ya know, the dog version of waving – hee hee). Squeaky toys are the best invention! I will chase it and retrieve it but can’t promise I’ll give it to you.  We can work on sharing skills – ha ha! I do like the other dogs in my foster home but I don’t require other ones. But I do need a fenced yard in my forever home.    I am potty trained and can also use a potty pad inside.  I’ve even had some walks on a leash, although I won’t say I’m an expert.  And you really can’t say I’m a barker.  But I have been known to let out a random bark for no reason other than to remind you I here. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   I’m sure you’ve heard about small dogs being big barkers. Well, I’m here to tell you it’s not factual. You see, I only do so when I’m alarmed or if I’m crated for an extended period of time.  I’m a shy lady but also a very happy one. I’ll wag my tail and lick your hand to let you know how excited I am to see you. I entertain myself with small toys that make noise and treats. I do need a fenced yard because I have zero experience using a leash. Maybe once I settle in, we can work on this together but for now, please have a fenced in yard for me. This will also help with my potty training. While I will use potty pads, we are working on a routine for going potty outside.  There are other dogs here and would benefit from having other dogs in my forever home. Another confident dog will help me learn to trust people and get on a routine. But don't require another dog if you are home a lot.  I hope you think we’d be a good fit because I’m just the sweetest and am very good-natured. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home.
