You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Well can I just say I LOVE the ranch!! My last house had 148 dogs and it was REALLY nasty!!! The authorities finally came and got us all!! Here at the ranch I get spa days and the food is real good and we have a huge field to play in!! My best friend is Layla. She is really scared so I stay close to her so she feels safe and hopefully at some point she will start to trust humans again. The volunteers are really nice. They hold us and talk to us and its VERY different from what we were used to! Mom says she is going to attach some pics of where we lived but I am happy to forget all about that and enjoy life. DOB 4-24-2025 Izzie is looking for a Mom! She is a baby that likes to stay close, a 24 hour girl. Izzie is social, loves to play, gets along great with others and wants to be an important part of her future home. She will be between 7 and 8 pounds, has a natural tail and gorgeous ears with a cute little face. She is very smart and focused. She is up to date on all medical, spayed, heartworm negative and has received a ProHeart6 heartworm preventative infection. Her adoption fee is 900.00 and her transport fee is 165.00. Our transport is HEARTS LLC they leave every other Friday to deliver their stops on Saturday to the East Coast The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Meet JJ, a 12lb Yorkie mix! JJ found himself at the shelter when his owner said they were losing their home. The shelter was told he is 17 years old, but we don't believe that and neither does our vet. He's more like 12. He is very active and healthy! He loves to go for walks and run around the yard. When he arrived at FLFO, JJ's teeth were in terrible condition, and he was in pain. We made sure he had a dental cleaning and had to have 17 teeth removed. Not to fear, he still has some left and chews with no problem! He's a great eater! JJ gets along well with other dogs and easily goes into his crate to sleep. He does need supervision with his potty habits. We take him out every couple of hours. JJ is happy and affectionate with a touch of independence. He will make a wonderful addition to your family! FLFO requires a home visit therefore adopters must be within 40 miles of Baldwin MD.

Meet Jack Frost (being called Waldo which seems to fit him more. 15 pounds of sweetness, great with his 4 legged foster brother, mostly housebroken but it is still a work in progress and will need monitoring and structure. Estimated to be about 1 year old. Adoption Fee is $450. All of our dogs will be microchipped. We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. My mom is Muffin's owner. I am her son. Mom just moved into independent living from a townhouse. Muffin is 14 years old. Dr. Mimnaugh is her vet. We hoped that the move would work for Muffin and Mom but the challenge of taking Muffin out for walks and bathroom breaks up and down steps and long hallways is too much. Muffin is a sweet, peaceful , aging dog but has no significant problems. It is hard for my Mom to make this decision but is in the best interest of both Mom and Muffin. I am available for questions. We hope we find someone who loves dogs and will care for Muffin. It will provide comfort to my Mom and our family.
