Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hellowwww my name is Tootles and I was found roaming the roads of the south.  It was COLD and I am TINY!!!  Well I am tiny but I have a REALLY BIG mouth  LOL   The ranch says they do not need a security system because they have Tootles and they do not need a breakfast bell either because I make sure everyone knows when its time to eat!!!! :)   I like other little dogs and I wouldn't want to be an only dog that would be REALLY REALLY boring!!!  I'm not one of those seniors that wants to lay around  so if you are I am NOT your gal!Mom calls me Winky now cause I have one eye.  No big deal I function the same way I always have :)MUST have fenced yard!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!May 25, 2023, 5:39 pm

Needs experienced adopter,
Story
I have had Luna for 4 years I took her from an ex roommate who was abusive to her as a pup she is the sweetest most protective dog in the world however due to her past she does suffer from anxiety and is very defensive at first meet.. It literally breaks my heart to have to surrender her unfortunately due to housing I am unable to keep her. I have done everything in my best ability to try to keep us together unfortunately all options have failed. I’m looking for someone who can love her as much as I do.

Story
Crosby is a sweet, little male Yorkie born on 10/30/22. He loves to play, loves his toys and gets along with everyone. He is up to date on vaccinations and is being fostered in Arkansas. His adoption fee is $1000 and the transport fee $165. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Petey is an adorable 14-pound, blond, male yorkie that’s between 2 and 3 years old. He’s a little on the big side for a Yorkie, but I guess he needs that much space to hold his double dose of personality. He walks well on a leash, travels well in a car, and gets along well with other dogs. This dapper little guy seems to always be happy, loves attention and appears to be housebroken. He also thoroughly enjoyed an episode of Animal Planet standing on his hind legs so he could get closer to the screen to see the baby puppies. By the time his foster mom got her camera to video this, he had become fatigued from standing on his hind legs so he just stood there glued to the tv watching the baby puppies until a commercial came on. He did not live in a home with children so he will not be considered for families with young children. Petey is neutered, up to date on vaccinations including a Bordetella for kennel cough, heartworm negative, and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Petey is being fostered in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $815 which includes his $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Petey, please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner.
