Story
Emi is a sweet, sweet girl. She's a mixed Akita, quite small for that breed (approx. 55 lbs). She loves people and is great with kids. She loves to go on leisurely walks, but loves to nap and eat peanut butter even more! Not overly energetic, she's totally content with a chill lifestyle where she goes for 1-2 walks per day and can spend most of her time with her owner—she can have some anxiety when left alone for too long, so someone who works from home would be ideal! But she's a very quiet girl, who rarely barks except for when someone knocks at the door. She can be reactive to other dogs (and all other animals, but mostly dogs), so she needs an owner who is experienced and comfortable with that! She also knows basic commands, but could really use an owner who can commit to working with her consistently on perfecting them. Everyone who meets her loves her and comments on how sweet and quiet she is.

Story
Meet Sohee with cute freckles! SoHee is one of the three siblings rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea at just 3 months old in April 2019. With their lives luckily saved, the little puppies were brought to a private shelter but suffered from parvovirus at such a young age. SoHee fully recovered after treatment but has never been given an opportunity to live in a home with decent care so far. Despite a not-so-bright past, she is still one of the most friendly and cheerful dogs in the shelter. We don’t want her to spend her whole life in this dirt kennel without knowing what is like to be loved by her own family in a loving home. This sweet girl is ready to warm your heart and home! > Personality: Friendly, Affectionate, Active Sohee is such an affectionate girl, especially around hoomans! She does well even with new faces of the shelter volunteers and walks wonderfully on a leash with them. Considering her active personality and the fact that she enjoys walking with the staff and volunteers, she would love to have regular exercise and go on new adventures with her family. > Relationships - With dogs: She gets along with most dogs and does not with some. - With adults: Very friendly with adults including men. > Walking manners: Very good > Shedding (on a scale of 1 to 10): 8 > Food allergies/Picky eater: No > Potty (indoor/outdoor): Sohee would assumably use the bathroom outdoors only as she currently lives in a dirt shelter. > Bathing/Brushing: Good with brushing/ Not certain about bathing, but considering her mild nature, she would be fine after some experiences. > Barking: No > Likes/Dislikes: Sohee loves people and treats! > Current living situation: Well taken care of in a private shelter in S. Korea > Health Issues: No issues. If you have an open heart and a loving home for Sohee, please don't hesitate to submit an application now!

Story
Hey there. My name is Gizmo. Do you like my adorable speckles and floppy ears? I’m a super handsome boy! I’m a 1.5 year old akita/bulldog mix weighing in at about 70 pounds. I’m a super smart boy who loves to learn and take direction from my handler. I’ll make a great buddy for someone with an active lifestyle who is excited to take me on outdoor adventures. I’ve completed training school with Pack Potential where I’ve worked on my leash skills and building confidence around other pups. I’ll be most comfortable in a home with no other animals or children, and one that will provide structure and boundary. In return I’ll be the most loyal pup around! I’m healthy, up to date on vaccinations, neutered and vaccinated.

Story
Sammy IS AVAILALBE (updated 11-30-2023).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Sammy, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22667&name=SammySammy was found wandering alone, wearing a black harness attached to a white leash. People had previously seen him being walked by an elderly man near Del High Park, but no one could find that gentleman and Sammy was taken to the shelter. He was checked in, given an impound number of #A1818905, and sat there waiting for his family to find him. His time was running out, no one came for him, and the shelter had now given him a euthanasia date. We rescued Sammy and put up signs in the area in which he was found, hoping his owner would see them, but no one has responded. This super fluffy guy with the biscuit paws is thought to be around 4-5 years old and isnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t a high maintenance diva. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s been through so much already and we would love to be able to let him adjust inside a wonderful foster (or adoptive) home. Right now, heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153d do best as the only dog.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.November 30, 2023, 6:35 am
