Story
Meet Maddux! This sweet boy came to us from death row at a local kill shelter after he had been dropped off after being found as a stray. He was undoubtedly the skinniest, most starved dog we've ever seen and his poor body was covered in sores. Unfortunately, his tail was so rotten it had to be amputated immediately. Maddux really misses his tail and doesn't understand why humans failed him so much. He is eating well and starting to put on weight, and also learning to trust new people. He knows every command and is extremely well trained, he will even give you a big hug if you kneel down and ask him! He has a very sweet heart overall and just needs a patient person who will help him learn what it's like to live a normal life for once.

Story
Meet Greenbean! Greenbean is such a sweet older man. He's got a one track mind for giving kisses, always the love-bug - he will never turn down a cuddle! Since he is older, his hips do hurt him at times and stairs can be difficult for him. Although he does turn into a little jumping bean every time you greet him!! He walks well on a leash and loves treats. He hasn't made any doggie friends yet, but would be open to slow introductions with another dog or would love to be your only!

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Bear, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.petfinder.com.  Bear is the sweetest lab/pit mix. He’s a shy, lazy big puppy that loves his walks, playing with other dogs, snuggling and sun bathing outside. Bear was abused by his last owner so he’s scared of everyone he firsts meets. Once he warms up to someone he loves to cuddle up next to them while he takes one of his many naps throughout the day. Since Bear suffered so much trauma with his last owner he’s still learning how to be a dog. He mimics his 2 sisters every move. They also are his best friends and safety blankets. Bear would need to be in a home with another dog. He would also do best in a home without a lot of commotion. Due to his previous trauma he’s very skittish of loud noises and a lot of movement.  Bears owners are rehoming him because they are having a baby and have decided that they can't keep him now that they are going to be busy with the baby and having people over often, which is stressful for Bear as it takes him a while to warm up to new people.  Bear is an extremely sweet dog that just needs a little emotional support and patience. He is smart and would benefit from continued training. Bear does great at doggy daycare and would make a great playmate for another dog.April 18, 2024, 1:36 pm

Story
This is Sosie, we found her curled up in a ball on the porch of a kids daycare. I brought her back to work (PAWS) with me to scan for a microchip. She had one, and I was able to get in touch with her owner. The owners said they'd come pick her up the following day because of not being able to get off of work before late at night, so I agreed to keep her overnight. After that day my calls were ignored. The owner has never reached back out to me and clearly dumped her on us. However it is their loss because she's a wonderful dog who deserves a loving home with an owner that truly cares for her and her well being. She loves people and loves to cuddle. She has not had one accident inside. She gets a little stressed in the car so I do make sure she's secured while driving or she'll try to get in the driver's lap. She has done well with all the dogs she's met. She also is good with kids. She's really an excellent dog. She needs some leash work, she is a puller and very strong, but she knows basic commands and is eager to learn and just wants to be with people as much as possible. April 18, 2024, 1:36 pm
