We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Bear, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.petfinder.com.  Bear is the sweetest lab/pit mix. He’s a shy, lazy big puppy that loves his walks, playing with other dogs, snuggling and sun bathing outside. Bear was abused by his last owner so he’s scared of everyone he firsts meets. Once he warms up to someone he loves to cuddle up next to them while he takes one of his many naps throughout the day. Since Bear suffered so much trauma with his last owner he’s still learning how to be a dog. He mimics his 2 sisters every move. They also are his best friends and safety blankets. Bear would need to be in a home with another dog. He would also do best in a home without a lot of commotion. Due to his previous trauma he’s very skittish of loud noises and a lot of movement.  Bears owners are rehoming him because they are having a baby and have decided that they can't keep him now that they are going to be busy with the baby and having people over often, which is stressful for Bear as it takes him a while to warm up to new people.  Bear is an extremely sweet dog that just needs a little emotional support and patience. Story

This is Sosie, we found her curled up in a ball on the porch of a kids daycare. I brought her back to work (PAWS) with me to scan for a microchip. She had one, and I was able to get in touch with her owner. The owners said they'd come pick her up the following day because of not being able to get off of work before late at night, so I agreed to keep her overnight. After that day my calls were ignored. The owner has never reached back out to me and clearly dumped her on us. However it is their loss because she's a wonderful dog who deserves a loving home with an owner that truly cares for her and her well being. She loves people and loves to cuddle. She has not had one accident inside. She gets a little stressed in the car so I do make sure she's secured while driving or she'll try to get in the driver's lap. She has done well with all the dogs she's met. She also is good with kids. She's really an excellent dog. She needs some leash work, she is a puller and very strong, but she knows basic commands and is eager to learn and just wants to be with people as much as possible. May 9, 2024, 10:47 pm

Meet Stromboli - This big boy is a total catch, filled with lots of personality and love to share. Stromboli is currently living in a foster home and this is what his foster family had to say about him: "Stromboli is the epitome of a goofy love bug. He loves his family, treats, and time outside in the sun. After a romp in the yard or walk around the block, this boy just wants to become a total couch potato. He gets along well with other dogs. We are currently working on leash walking and house manners including potty and crate training. He learns quickly and is eager to do whatever he can for a treat! Sweet Stromboli would be a great companion for someone who likes to get outside during the day and snuggle up in the evenings."Stromboli gets along well with his canine foster sibling and may benefit from another dog in his adoptive home. Due to his size and exuberance, he would do better in a home with no cats or small children. Stromboli cannot wait to find his partner in crime and couch potato buddy for life! This gentle giant is Sumo, a 7-year-old Bulldog, weighing in at a mere 125 pounds. This guy was brought in as a stray, so we don't know much about him, but we do think he has lived in a home before. Sumo keeps his kennel clean each day which could be a great indication that he would be easily housetrained. Sumo has been gaining a large fan club due to his incredibly sweet and friendly personality! Although Sumo's size rivals that of many of his four-legged friends he found playgroups a little overwhelming. Sumo now hangs out with other dogs that have gentle and dainty playstyles, which is much more his speed! Recently Sumo was able to go out on a doggy day out and he showed off his gentle and calm personality. He was a breeze to walk while he was out and about! In certain situations Sumo became cautious and timid though, so he will need someone who can reassure him and help build up his confidence. Sumo cannot wait to find that special home that will spoil and love him forever. Sumo is currently living in a foster home. Lady Bug was rescued from a bad situation and has been treated for puncture wounds and skin condition.  Her owner passed away and no one else was able to give her a home.    She is currently in a home but lives on a separate level as she does not get along with the resident dogs. Lady Bug needs a home as the only animal. She is  housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash and has the sweetest temperament of any dog the family has met.  Lady Bug is truly a LOVE BUG with humans. He loves to play but is also very respectful of the other dogs energy. He has also tested well with cats! While he enjoys walks and playing, he is quite the snuggle bug too and would love to chill on the couch with you!  He really is the perfect boy! Approximate Birthdate:  Feb 2023 Adoption Fee: $200 TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL.
