Story
It's been quite the Journey—in fact, that's where I got my name. Neglected, starved and left in an outdoor kennel with no covering for the first 12+ months of my life, a humane officer brought me an Ohio dog pound where I served 17+ months. Now I’m living in a foster home learning to live in a house, be on a schedule, and lots of love. Follow me @DeafDogJourney on Instagram. I might be an American Bulldog Terrier mix. I have a heart-shaped spot on my side, a diamond around my eye, and my eyeliner is always on fleek. I'm DEAF, but I know how to sit by touch, and come by signal. If I like you, I LOVE you. I prefer not to be alone and I’m very affectionate. I learned how to chew on a bone, not fear the bathtub, and recently passed my cat test. I do not have a bite history or show any signs of food aggression. I love daily walks and jogging with you. I do pull on the leash, and I'm very STRONG, so you need to be a strong, patient handler. It takes quite of bit of walking to get me tired. I will need leash/deaf training. I'm a happy dog, but unfortunately, I don't like everybody. I'm stranger reactive and dog selective, so in-person meet-and-greets with me are required. I will bark at new people and new dogs. I would do best in a home with no other dogs, but the right female sibling MIGHT be OK. Kids usually bring other kids around, so because I'm stranger reactive, a home without kids is best. I love the water, but I'm prone to ear infections. Fetch isn't my thing, and I get itchies from the grass. Finding any home is easy—finding the right permanent home is hard. My team is determined to make sure the rest of my Journey is a happy one. An adopter a few hours of Zanesville, Ohio is not required, but preferred for a pre-home visit. I require a strong, protective pawrent who knows I can be unpredictable with strangers and dogs, and can dedicate time to training.

Story
Oakey Dokey ❤ ❤ ❤ What a befitting nickname! This is pretty much Oakley’s attitude! He is just an easy-going dude. Car rides, walks, hikes, or even just lounging on the couch, being lazy, doing nothing, Oakley is IN! Wherever you are, he chooses to be right there with you! Oakley is fiercely loyal, and when he loves, he loves deeply. He gives you his all. Alone time? Forget it! Oakley will want to be right where you are! Always your sidekick. Be forewarned, he also has a tendency to park his almost 90lb body in your lap and do the cuddles and snuggles ❤ Oakley keeps up on walks and hikes. Don’t walk anywhere near water though, if you are not prepared for the consequences. Oakley will think nothing of jumping in the water! If there are ducks or geese, he will give chase. Oakley thinks chasing after small creatures is just the coolest thing! He will need a thorough wipe down or bath after all these adventures. You see, Oakley has a long list of allergies. Amongst them are grass and trees. Other adorable things Oakley does is bring you his favorite toys (stuffies are his favorite) and ball. He carries them around in his mouth, everywhere. He treats them like they are his babies 😊 Oakley is 4 years old, 90lb American Bulldog. Having been disappointed by humans many times, Oakley takes a little bit to warm up to strangers (treats help) but once he inducts you into his circle, you’re in for life! Oakley is looking for a semi-active family with a good blend of activities and chill time. Oakley prefers to be the only pet in the house as nothing makes him happier than to soak up all your love and attention. This kid will give back twice as much ❤

Story
Dara is a hoot, but also a homebody, and she is the type of girl who would love to be in her jammies back at home by 8pm. Currently living in a foster home, Dara has shown that she is a great cuddler whose favorite place might just be bundled up in bed. She will even bark to let you know when it's bedtime and she wants a snuggle. She's not totally lazy, though. She has a nice, moderate activity level, with bursts of silly zoomie energy on occasion. She enjoys walks and hikes, and is working on being a tugboat on leash - she will at least help you up the hills. Her signature move is wriggling her dumpling self around on her back, partly for the joy of it and partly in case you want to give her belly rubs. Dara could be a little timid meeting new people and visiting new places at first, and she's really come into her own and her goofy personality shines in a home environment. So if you too feel like a bit of an introvert and are looking for a kindred spirit, Dara is your gal. She is also good in her crate, and totally housebroken. She is estimated to be around 4 years old and she weighs a chonky 82 lbs.Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to schedule a meet!

Story
Vinton is a delightfully goofy ham of a dog. His zoomies are epic, his play bows hysterical, and his smile infectious! Based on his big eager greetings to other dogs, happy-go-lucky Vinton would love to find a playmate in his forever home. He'd also make a good adventure buddy, as he's had a blast on hikes, romping around new yards, and splishing and splashing through water. He's also friendly and charming with people, eager to please and show off his smarts.Vinton is deaf, but he has not let that fact slow himself down one bit. Thanks to our volunteers working with him and his natural smarts, he has learned a number of things in sign language: watch me, good boy, touch, sit, down, shake with both paws. Vinton will thrive in a home that continues to work with him using sign language. Fortunately, we have a great support system for those who adopt a deaf dog!Vinton has gone on a number of home visits and he is a very good boy. He is totally housebroken and he does well in his crate. He can be nosey when left loose. He walks great on a leash, takes treats gently, and rarely jumps (and if he does, it's usually gently for affection.) Vinton can be a silly galoot but overall he's smart, social, and eager to please. He's a special boy!Vinton is estimated to be around a year old and weighs 64 lbs.Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet!
