It's been quite the Journey—in fact, that's where I got my name. Neglected, starved and left in an outdoor kennel with no covering for the first 12+ months of my life, a humane officer brought me an Ohio dog pound where I served 17+ months. Now I’m living in a foster home learning to live in a house, be on a schedule, and lots of love. Follow me @DeafDogJourney on Instagram. I might be an American Bulldog Terrier mix. I have a heart-shaped spot on my side, a diamond around my eye, and my eyeliner is always on fleek. I'm DEAF, but I know how to sit by touch, and come by signal. If I like you, I LOVE you. I prefer not to be alone and I’m very affectionate. I learned how to chew on a bone, not fear the bathtub, and recently passed my cat test. I do not have a bite history or show any signs of food aggression. I love daily walks and jogging with you. I do pull on the leash, and I'm very STRONG, so you need to be a strong, patient handler. It takes quite of bit of walking to get me tired. I will need leash/deaf training. I'm a happy dog, but unfortunately, I don't like everybody. I'm stranger reactive and dog selective, so in-person meet-and-greets with me are required. I will bark at new people and new dogs. I would do best in a home with no other dogs, but the right female sibling MIGHT be OK. Kids usually bring other kids around, so because I'm stranger reactive, a home without kids is best. I love the water, but I'm prone to ear infections. Fetch isn't my thing, and I get itchies from the grass. Finding any home is easy—finding the right permanent home is hard. My team is determined to make sure the rest of my Journey is a happy one. An adopter a few hours of Zanesville, Ohio is not required, but preferred for a pre-home visit. I require a strong, protective pawrent who knows I can be unpredictable with strangers and dogs, and can dedicate time to training.

Pauly LOVES people and taking naps! He needs a new home with NO other animals. He is a Bully with merle coloring, 1.5 years old, weighs about 60 lbs. but short, and we have had him since 4 months old. We adopted him and his brother together, and we also have a third dog. Pauly has always tolerated the other dogs but it is now clear that he needs to be the ONLY PET. We are now keeping them separate. Pauly is a decent guard dog as in, he barks when he hears strange noises. He CANNOT be with another dog. If you are looking for a dog to take to the dog park and to hang with your friends' dogs, THIS IS NOT THE DOG FOR YOU. Other than that, he is a complete couch potato! He has never shown aggression towards humans. He loves to cuddle on the couch for hours and has never gone potty in the house (he's too lazy to get up lol). We love him dearly and wish we could keep him, but we want the best quality of life for all the pets involved.

Found this guy abandoned at a park. No one claimed him and he wasn't chipped. So we got him his shots and all that, andhave had him for a few years. We (the vet & I) put him at about 8 years old. He loves walks and sunshine! Doesn't chew anything! Not even his toys anymore! He's a great dog, except around small children. But we've been working with him, and he's shown much improvement! We've had him a few years, but he's aggressive toward young children, especially when they start running around. So we unfortunately cannot keep him, for the safety of our kids.

Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Balboa is a 3-year-old, 40-pound Bulldog mix with a BIG heart and an even bigger desire to be your loyal sidekick. He’s good with dogs and kids but is a firm NO for cats. He’s potty trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and already knows "sit" and "stay". This sweet boy has faced some tough times, but you’d never know it from the way he loves. Balboa is pure affection — a cuddly house hippo who believes personal space is a myth. If you sit down, he’s in your lap. If you walk somewhere, he’s right behind you. If you stop petting him… he kindly requests that you reconsider. Balboa LOVES car rides — maybe a little too much — and will happily try to climb into any open car door, even if it’s not yours. He’s also very food motivated, likely from past days where meals were hard to come by. Because of that, he’s still working on manners and resisting the urge to do a bit of table surfing. Often called Bobo for short, this adorable blockhead just wants a family who will give him all the love, cuddles, and snacks his heart desires. If you’re looking for a snuggly, loyal, goofy best friend who will always be by your side, Balboa is your guy. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, the first thing to do is submit an application for approval. All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes.
