It's been quite the Journey—in fact, that's where I got my name. Neglected, starved and left in an outdoor kennel with no covering for the first 12+ months of my life, a humane officer brought me an Ohio dog pound where I served 17+ months. Now I’m living in a foster home learning to live in a house, be on a schedule, and lots of love. Follow me @DeafDogJourney on Instagram. I might be an American Bulldog Terrier mix. I have a heart-shaped spot on my side, a diamond around my eye, and my eyeliner is always on fleek. I'm DEAF, but I know how to sit by touch, and come by signal. If I like you, I LOVE you. I prefer not to be alone and I’m very affectionate. I learned how to chew on a bone, not fear the bathtub, and recently passed my cat test. I do not have a bite history or show any signs of food aggression. I love daily walks and jogging with you. I do pull on the leash, and I'm very STRONG, so you need to be a strong, patient handler. It takes quite of bit of walking to get me tired. I will need leash/deaf training. I'm a happy dog, but unfortunately, I don't like everybody. I'm stranger reactive and dog selective, so in-person meet-and-greets with me are required. I will bark at new people and new dogs. I would do best in a home with no other dogs, but the right female sibling MIGHT be OK. Kids usually bring other kids around, so because I'm stranger reactive, a home without kids is best. I love the water, but I'm prone to ear infections. Fetch isn't my thing, and I get itchies from the grass. Finding any home is easy—finding the right permanent home is hard. My team is determined to make sure the rest of my Journey is a happy one. An adopter a few hours of Zanesville, Ohio is not required, but preferred for a pre-home visit. I require a strong, protective pawrent who knows I can be unpredictable with strangers and dogs, and can dedicate time to training.

Pauly LOVES people and taking naps! He needs a new home with NO other animals. He is a Bully with merle coloring, 1.5 years old, weighs about 60 lbs. but short, and we have had him since 4 months old. We adopted him and his brother together, and we also have a third dog. Pauly has always tolerated the other dogs but it is now clear that he needs to be the ONLY PET. We are now keeping them separate. Pauly is a decent guard dog as in, he barks when he hears strange noises. He CANNOT be with another dog. If you are looking for a dog to take to the dog park and to hang with your friends' dogs, THIS IS NOT THE DOG FOR YOU. Other than that, he is a complete couch potato! He has never shown aggression towards humans. He loves to cuddle on the couch for hours and has never gone potty in the house (he's too lazy to get up lol). We love him dearly and wish we could keep him, but we want the best quality of life for all the pets involved.

Dara is a hoot, but also a homebody, and she is the type of girl who would love to be in her jammies back at home by 8pm. Currently living in a foster home, Dara has shown that she is a great cuddler whose favorite place might just be bundled up in bed. She will even bark to let you know when it`s bedtime and she wants a snuggle. She`s not totally lazy, though. She has a nice, moderate activity level, with bursts of silly zoomie energy on occasion. She enjoys walks and hikes, and is working on being a tugboat on leash - she will at least help you up the hills. Her signature move is wriggling her dumpling self around on her back, partly for the joy of it and partly in case you want to give her belly rubs. Dara could be a little timid meeting new people and visiting new places at first, and she`s really come into her own and her goofy personality shines in a home environment. So if you too feel like a bit of an introvert and are looking for a kindred spirit, Dara is your gal. She is also good in her crate, and totally housebroken. Meet the big friendly galoot that is Tyson! This hilarious goober has a big personality to match his big head. At around 5 years old, Tyson has some manners that come with maturity but retains a very silly spirit to keep you laughing.Tyson is a total goofball and super playful! He loves toys and it`s hilarious to watch his jowls and wrinkles flapping in the breeze when he romps around the yard. He is up for a casual game of fetch, or is content to simply settle down and enjoy some chew time. Tyson is also quite people-oriented. He looks at his favorite humans like they are the best thing in the world. Though he likes his toys, he is even more passionate about getting butt scratches and pets. This gentle giant also has some manners down. He listens well seems eager to please. Though he is a lumbering 80 lbs and can be strong, volunteers report that he is often shows decent leash manners. He also seems house-trained, and he knows how to sit. With other dogs, Tyson was sociable for his play group assessment and he tends to be politely curious passing other dogs on walks.While Tyson certainly has some fun spunkiness, we suspect he would also be grateful to be a couch potato too.
