Story
If you are interested in Kiwi, you can fill out an application and send it to the Abbotsford SPCA! At this time, only local homes may be considered to take Kiwi for a foster-to-adopt arrangement until her spay is complete on May 5th.Kiwi is a lovely dog who originally came into BC SPCA care as a stray. She has been under the care of the BC SPCA for some time now, and now that she is on the mend, she's ready to find her forever home!Kiwi is an energetic girl who will require a family dedicated to continuing her training with patience and consistency. She still needs some work on her basic manners, like polite greetings (she's very excited to say hello and may jump up) and potty training once in a home environment. Kiwi is a friendly girl who loves making new friends! Kiwi can pull a bit on leash when excited but after a minute, she walks very nicely right beside us! More than anything, Kiwi wants to be right in your lap - she is such a snuggle bug. She will happily sink into you and fall asleep anytime you sit with her. Although she settles well on her own, she absolutely adores being with her people and can get very excited to see you. Thankfully, she settles down pretty quickly once she gets her greetings out of the way.Kiwi has been dog-selective but has successfully lived with another dog before; she would need slow and thoughtful introductions to any future canine companions. She has not been introduced to cats or small animals during her time at the shelter. We think Kiwi could do well in a home with older children or dog-savvy kids, as her exuberant personality might be overwhelming for very young children.Kiwi would thrive in a home that can provide her with a consistent routine, positive reinforcement, and lots of love! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Black Weight: 24.9 Age: 0yrs 9mths 1wks

Story
For Pippa, life is one big adventure, and she's always ready to dive in at top speed. She's full of energy, curiosity, and joy, and nothing makes her happier than a good run around the yard followed by some quality time with her people. Pippa's a smaller dog with a big personality, and her compact size makes her a great travel buddy for anyone who loves a co-pilot.Her one non-negotiable is staying close to Copper, her older and deeply bonded companion. Wherever Pippa goes, Copper goes too. Being apart from him makes her anxious, but when they're together, she's all confidence and tail wags.Pippa does have a strong opinion about cats, mainly that they're very fun to chase, so a cat free home is a must. What she really needs is a safe, loving home where she and Copper can stick together and enjoy the good life as a team. If you're looking for a lively dog with a big heart and an equally adorable sidekick, Pippa and Copper are ready to meet you. Please fill the application link below if you are interested in Pippa and Copper! https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 17.6 Age: 5yrs 1mths 3wks

Story
Copper is the kind of guy who thrives in the spotlight. He's happiest when he's got your full attention, whether that's during a chat in the yard or a quiet moment together on the couch. A seasoned soul with a bit of extra padding. Copper still has plenty of pep, especially when there's a game of fetch involved. He'll do just about anything for a snack, which makes him both charming and very trainable and probably why he has that extra padding. As a senior, Copper is looking for a calm, loving retirement home where he can enjoy the good life. He's not in this alone though, he comes as a bonded pair with Pippa, his younger partner in crime. Pippa brings the energy, Copper brings the wisdom, and together they're the perfect balance of fun and companionship. If you're looking to add a little heart and a lot of personality to your home, Copper and Pippa might be the duo for you. https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Brown Weight: 33.1 Age: 9yrs 1mths 1wks

Story
Helloooooo Canadaaaaa! My name is Kyros and here is some info about me: Breed: American Pitbull TerrierAge: 8.5 yrsGender: maleWeight: 28 kgs/ 61lbsHeight: tbd Witnesses saw me being dumped from a car on a busy highway. Terribly shameful thing for someone to do. Thank goodness my rescuer saved me. After my rescue, my old owner was identified and my rescuer discovered that I lived most of my life (5 years) tied outside a garage... through cold winters and hot, hot summers. I lived neglected and tossed away.  Horrible again. I was adopted within 6 months after being rescued from the side of the highway.  My owner and I bonded very well and had some great times together!  He was showing me kindness and helping me to trust and learn some rewarding behaviours.  Unfortunately, he suffered a sudden heart attack and passed away.  So sad.  After that, I was placed in a paid boarding facility, where I am extremely depressed and barely eating.  I am an extremely loyal and protective dog. I often get depressed and stop eating if I am not with a human for a long period of time. I warm up to, and bond with people very quickly.  I stay close to my human and give them a lot of sloppy kisses and love. I can be trained easily once I trust the person.  My motivations have been verbal and physical praise and attention-- show me love and I will follow your command! I was initially reactive towards all dogs, but with training and some socialization from my previous owner, I was able to approach female dogs in a playful way without reacting. See my video. Though still not friendly with male dogs at all (have a bite history with a male dog). I will never be the dog who can be left off-leash in a park, but with proper training and leadership, I can be a very good dog and loyal companion! Through the work my owner had done, I can walk past barking male dogs (with a secure fence separating us) without flinching (before I was adopted, I used to lunge and pull right away), but if one of them crosses a line and annoys me, I will still lunge and snap at them. If my training is resumed, I'm sure I can improve further. I showed definite improvement with someone taking the time to work with me. The best home would be one without young children or other pets. I will do well with 1.5 hours of walking per day and around 30 minutes of running or tug play. It would be ideal to be in a home with a fenced space for off-leash play, since I cannot be left with other dogs. It would be grand if I could go to a Pitbull knowledgeable home.  We're truly an amazing breed! ENERGY LEVEL: Moderate I GET ALONG WITH:Dogs: ok with females (on leash only) and not friendly at all with males.Cats: unknown, but not likelyKids: unknown. I greet kids (7-10 yrs) during walks, but have never lived with one. I seem friendly and kind with them during walks.  Must be monitored. PREY DRIVE: High FEARS:none that my rescue mom knows of! I do get jumpy if someone does a lot of sudden movements around me due to my abusive history. TRAINING: someLeash skills – I am leash reactive, so will need continued work on this. My previous owner was teaching me how to walk nicely on the leash, but I still pull a lot!House trained – I was in a home before, but need a refresher!Other tricks – sit and stay HEALTH NOTES:I am a healthy boy. I am fully vaccinated and neutered. I am also microchipped! My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. I would likely fly through Montreal, see extra costs below. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1304455##

THIS IS NOT A LOVED AT LAST DOG.  Please do NOT submit an application through LALDR. Please contact Mike at Mike_kossowski@hotmail.com  for more information or to adopt. Hi everyone, I am the adorable Auggie and here's some information about me:Breed: Pitbull/Malinois brindle mixAge: ~ 10 monthsGender: MaleWeight: ~ 75 lbsHeight: (ground to shoulder) 24 inches I was saved last year August from a sketchy situation at a breeder, at ~ 3 months old. Even though I was the runt of the litter, I showed the most love and affection to my adopter and immediately won him over. Unfortunately due to some unexpected changes in my person's life, including the loss of a backyard for me, he has had to make the diffcult decision to find a new home for me. For a young dog, I am well socialized and have been professionally trained in obedience skills and tricks. My person says that I did very well at daycare and that I am a sweet loving boy, adored by all! My training also extends to the proper manners, waiting for my food, walking well on leash and being crate trained. My favourite pastimes are swimming, hiking, car rides, fetching sticks and playing tug of war. For a young pup, I have a clean bill of heath and had all my shots and deworming. An adoption fee of $100 applies. https://youtube.com/shorts/xvv1K0rTP8k THIS IS A COURTESY POST. PLEASE CONTACT THE PERSON OR GROUP LISTED BELOW. Story
Meet Flais! This gentle fella was abandoned outside our rescuer's foster home in Zapapoa so we don't know much about the first few months of his life.  He did arrive with several wounds, likely from other street dogs. He's had time to heal and recover from his frightening past on the street, and has received full Vet care including catching up on vaccinations and being neutered.  He's all set and ready for adoption.   There's nothing about this guy that even hints at his rough past; he delights in any kind of human attention and gets along well with all the other pups at the shelter.  Good with kids, he'd suit a family environment where he'd revel in any and all adventures and be just as happy to cuddle quiet evenings away with his people.  He doesn't seem to want to make friends with kitties tho, so it's best he be placed in a non-kitty household! Will you be the one to give this gentle fella the love and stability he deserves?  He will pay you back in unyielding loyalty, never ending cuddles and companionship! VETTING: Fully vaccinated Neutered/Spayed Dewormed SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma) Flea/tick/heartworm prevention No known medical issues or injuries PLEASE NOTE: Flais is currently in Mexico. There will be a $235 fee for transportation to BC. This will be discussed upon approval. ##2301417##
