Buddha is a very loving, caring family dog. He has lived in the house with a family of six and four of those will be including children aging from the ranges of 3-16. He’s not even 50 lbs, so don’t let his pictures fool you. He is not too big and not too small, he is just the right size. Otto Lotto is a rescue dog and with any rescue it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. He might be compact in size, but he’s got a huge personality that fills the room and your heart. One of the first things you’ll notice about Otto Lotto is his hilarious, happy-go-lucky personality. This guy lives for the little joys in life. Like flopping around on the couch, turning your pillows into his personal playground, and rolling around like he’s discovered the best day ever. He’s goofy in the best way, and his happiness is contagious. When it’s time for treats or training, he switches into “ready to work” mode but with the same wiggly, enthusiastic energy. Show him a snack, and he lights up with excitement and focus (followed by lots of thank-you tail wags, of course). As much as he loves treats, he makes sure to take them sooo gently! Perhaps it comes with the years of experience in treat taking! Hehe He’s a fun little partner to have around, especially if you work from home, he entertains himself easily and has just the right amount of energy without being demanding. Otto is great with other dogs, especially if they’re more on the chill side like him. He’s friendly and respectful, happy to say hello with a quick sniff, and then do his own thing. He’s not really a rough-and-tumble play kind of guy, but he’s totally comfortable hanging around other dogs, even in big playgroups. His ideal furry companion would be a gentle, easygoing dog who enjoys a good sunbathe more than a wrestling match. But he’s also totally fine being the only dog. He’s confident, content, and absolutely loves people. Speaking of people… Otto is kid-tested and approved! He’s been around a one year old and a four-year-old and handled both grace. He gives space when needed and gives makes sure to give lots of kisses without being overwhelming! With four year old Kobe, Otto played dinosaurs, and listened to Kobe rawr with all his might. He lied down with Kobe on the couch and when Kobe jumped onto the bean bags he relaxed on the floor or gnawed on a ball. When Otto met one year old Luke, he had lots of love to give! Baby Luke was ready for a nap and as we know, babies can cry when they are tired. Otto did not display signs of stress while Luke was prepping for nap time. We think he’d make a fantastic family dog, especially in a home with little ones who want a furry friend to grow up with. Otto enjoys the outdoors and would love a backyard where he can stretch his legs, sniff around, and catch some sun. He doesn’t need hours of exercise, but he does enjoy having space to explore and chill out. His version of play usually involves a few goofy zoomies, a play bow or two, and then it’s nap time. Simple pleasures are his thing. His must-haves? Love, a comfy bed, a lap for cuddles, some yummy snacks, and maybe a sunbeam to snooze in. Oh, and belly rubs. Otto lives for belly rubs. He’ll roll onto his back and hang out upside down like that’s the most natural thing in the world (because for him, it is). When you pet him and he has his upside down having the time of his life, he is gentle with his mouth. He doesn’t get over bearing and we love that!! If you’ve been searching for a built-in best friend and the world’s finest couch companion, look no further, Tom is your guy! At around 5 years old, he’s reached the perfect age: old enough to know the house rules and young enough to still be goofy, playful, and full of love. With his handsome salt-and-pepper face and the softest fur you’ll ever bury your hands in, Tom is the kind of dog who just keeps getting more charming by the day. Tom is a pro snuggler and a certified cuddle bug. His favorite hobbies include leaning his whole body into you, carrying around his favorite toys (especially stuffies!), and making sure your couch never feels lonely. He loves his people deeply, if you want a dog who will choose to be right by your side, Tom is your man. Tom recently enjoyed a full day out with our Director of Behavior and his personality absolutely shined from start to finish. His very first interaction was with her 5-year-old boy and her 5-year-old autistic little girl and Tom handled it beautifully. He rode great in the car with the kids, taking everything in stride like a seasoned family dog. Loading into the car did require a bit of help, which turned into a comical moment everyone enjoyed. Tom may not be the most agile dog in the world, but what he lacks in athleticism, he more than makes up for in affection. Once settled, he was calm, content, and ready for adventure. Throughout the day, Tom met many new people — and every single interaction seemed like love at first sight. He immediately melted into arms and laps, rolling onto his back to ask for affection in his signature way. Several people even asked if his name was Teddy Bear, which would certainly fit given his thick coat, soft fur, and constant smile. Tom also visited the vet during his outing and was fantastic. He greeted the vet with affection, calmly accepted handling, and showed no interest in pulling toward other dogs walking into the clinic. He remained relaxed, polite, and people-focused the entire time. With the children, Tom was excited, joyful, and full of love. He showed particular enthusiasm with the 5-year-old, matching his energy and soaking up attention. With the 3-year-old, he was noticeably more mindful and gentler. Even when she made high-pitched cries, Tom remained completely unbothered. We couldn’t help but wonder if he was especially in tune with her behaviors and emotions. One of the most entertaining moments of the day came when Tom spotted his reflection in a mirror. Believing he had discovered a new dog friend, he had a brief but hilarious standoff - a bark, a stare, and then the realization that it was just himself. Once he figured it out, he promptly lost interest. We get it, Tom… mirrors can be scary lol Tom’s loving nature doesn’t stop there, he also attended doggy daycare and did fantastic. The staff couldn’t say enough good things about him and sent us this message afterward: “We love having Tom! He prefers calm or medium-energy buddies and takes his time getting to know new pups. Cats, however, are a firm “no thank you” from Tom, he has made his stance on felines very clear. 😅 Tom has lived in a home and is potty-trained. He’s got good manners but would love a family willing to help him continue his leash-walking skills so he can strut confidently on all his future adventures. Because he’s calm and people-oriented, Tom is a great candidate for apartment living if you are able to continue the leash work our behavior team has worked on! Pixie is the kind of dog who can brighten your day the moment she walks into the room. Ever met a dog who’s basically a living, breathing burst of confetti with a barrel chest and a PhD in Zoomies? That’s UziBoo- big, playful, goofy, and genuinely sweet with his people- but he does call shotguy each and everytime a car-ride is order. Want to see him in action? UziBoo is currently fostered with an older gentleman he adores and listens to beautifully. His foster will be the first to tell you that UziBoo is a good boy but appreciates structure and a no-nonsense approach. UziBoo has been around kiddos (even as young as 18 months) and does well, but because he’s built like a friendly tank with a love of sudden zoomie-launches, he’s best for a family where the tiniest humans are steady on their feet. On leash, he’s got the basics of leash walking down and responds to guidance, he just needs a little reminder to keep things loose and polite when the happy-hit. Inside he is an affectionate boy and eager to engage. Although he doesn’t live with another dog in his home he is a regular at doggie daycare and is playgroup and boarding approved. He is dog- social and has done well meeting dogs on leash but he could absolutely thrive as a solo dog. If you want a canine roommate for him, we’d most love to see him with a medium-energy female who enjoys some play but also appreciates breaks. UziBoo currently lives in a townhome, so apartment life could work too, as long as his brain and body get daily exercise. One important detail for UziBoo’s ideal home, he will need a cat-free home. When he met our house cat he was all barrel and no pause which we cannot see being a good fit for a feline friendship. At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress! We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
