Story
To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/6/10/nellie Meet Nellie! Nellie is a darling old lady (about 8 years old) who enjoys sunbathing and (short) walks in the grass. She was recently pulled from Avenal Shelter and saved from euthanasia at the last minute thanks to a foster! Months and months of enduring the shelter life only to be put to sleep there — no dog deserves this. While she has tested well with dogs and people at the shelter, she has been at the shelter so long that she deserves time to decompress! The decompression period varies for each dog but one should expect at least about 3 weeks to allow a dog time to start feeling comfortable. At this time, we are recommending that Nellie go to a dog free home. More info to come! $100 Adoption Donation includes: Spay, Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella, and microchip. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more! To apply or see more of Indy, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/12/3/indy Hello there! I'm Indy. I'm a true Christmas miracle! My HFP story begins with a close call – I was set to be euthanized at a county shelter in Sacramento. It wasn't my fault, just a lack of space. But guess what? Fate had other plans for me, and I spent the holidays in a cozy foster home, waiting for my forever family to come and scoop me up! I’m friendly when meeting people and I had been rocking it in the shelter yard with other dogs! My fosters say I'm super sweet and lovable, despite being a bit older. But hey, age is just a number, right? I love laying by your side while you work, and I'm always up for a game of play. Walks? Oh, they're my absolute favorite! I'm a well-mannered pup, potty trained and great in my kennel when my foster leaves the house. A real winner, or so they say! Now, I used to have some bumps on my abdomen but they were nothing serious. They sound scary because their called a ridiculous name: hemangiomas. Weird, I know. But they are no biggy. Look em’ up. They are non-cancerous growths and they have successfully been removed at UC Davis! I take it all in stride. I've still got pep in my step and a heart full of love. More info about my health journey is coming soon, but for now, I'm just grateful for my change of fate. If you're looking for a sweet, seasoned companion who's ready to bring joy into your life, that's me! To apply or learn more about Buddy, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/buddy-fozzy Buddy (Formerly known as Fozzy) was adopted through HFP 3 years ago, but now in need of a new home. He is an easy going guy who would do wonderful in a quiet suburban neighborhood. He loves naps and spends much of the day sleeping on the couch. While Buddy did well meeting dogs 3 years ago while in our program, he has been reactive towards dogs since being adopted and should be an only dog in the home. He is very happy without dogs and will live a very happy life with humans but does not need to interact with dogs. Buddy is very sweet to all people. He would do well in a home with kids 10+ . Housetrained, no separation anxiety, moderate energy and well behaved! Adoption Donation Sponsored by HFP. You might be wondering what “sponsored” means. A dog is sponsored when their foster or a donor loves them so much that they cover the adoption donation for a future adopter. This in hopes that the pup finds his or her forever family ASAP!

Story
**This is a courtesy post. Pikachu is NOT a YCSPCA dog and all adoption inquiries will be sent to his caretaker.** Pikachu, I choose you! Pikachu is a 7-year-old handsome hunk of love looking for his fur-ever home. He is your typical house hippo who loves to chill and go for leisurely strolls around the neighborhood. He is obsessed with tug of war and cuddling on the couch with his foster mom. Pikachu is fully grown and weighs about 60lbs. Pikachu was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Southern California after he was placed on the euthanasia list. He found himself at the shelter after his previous owner was arrested and no one was able to take over his care. He previously lived with a small dog, who was adopted from the shelter. Pikachu is a quiet and gentle soul who is looking for a family that enjoys pittie cuddles and slobbery kisses. He is the perfect mix of independent and social and enjoys attention, but also is happy to keep to himself when you are busy. He is confident and curious and enjoys venturing out into the world to check out all the smells. Like the character, Pikachu, he’ll basically do nothing until you want him to do something and then he is so game!  Pikachu has done well living with another large dog and has been very respectful of her setting boundaries with him. He could do well living with another chill dog, or as an only dog. Pikachu has never been around cats, so his foster mom isn't sure how he would do living with them. Pikachu seems like he could do well living with respectful kids 10 years and older. Pikachu is house and mostly crate-trained. He is a very food-motivated boy and has been doing great learning his basic manners. He has done well being left alone in his crate for short periods and overnight. Pikachu is a sweet and loving boy and could be a great first dog for someone looking for an easygoing companion. If he sounds like he might be the boy for you, email us at dogs@yolospca.org! Pikachu is neutered, up-to-date with his vaccinations, and up-to-date with his monthly preventatives. **This is a courtesy post. *** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS ANIMAL IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER AT: mariahmichel2018@yahoo.com *** Meet Buddy: A Handsome Soul in Need of a Loving Home Buddy is a beautiful ~2 yr old male lab/pit mix with a gentle and loving heart. He's looking for a family who can help provide him structure and training so he can be the best dog possible. He's an energetic boy who would love to go on hikes and be your activity buddy.  He is quite friendly and outgoing, but can be a tad nervous around men he doesn't know.   He is quite the house dog, but needs more space to run and get his energy out than his current owner is able to provide. Buddy has lived with children before, but does better with older kids/teenagers who can respect his space. Buddy knows sit and loves to get his customary treat after doing that task (though he can be a little impatient sometimes)!  Buddy knows his name and will follow you around. He can sometimes be stubborn & knows it (but that adds this personality!). He is scared of the rain but loves to be outside and sun bathe. He’s not scared of big dogs or dogs that bark but the little tiny dogs make him nervous he gets shy. He is a bit like the nosy neighbor because he likes to be everyone’s business but they all love him!  If you’re ready to open your heart to this sweet boy and provide him with the stability and love he deserves, please contact Mariah at mariahmichel2018@yahoo.com This is a courtesy post; Buddy is not at the shelter. Let’s help him find the forever home he deserves!   All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Story
At two and a half months old, Bingo was found alone in a field and scared. It was discovered shortly after that that he had two congenital heart defects. Right now, one compensates for the other. We do not know what this means for Bingo long-term, but he has no idea he is sick and lives life to the fullest. Bingo is a playful young dog that is approximately one year old. Bingo enjoys his dog and human friends. He has no exercise limitations, so we allow Bingo to self-regulate. Although he would not make a good hiking or running companion, he loves running and playing with friends. He has never met a toy that he doesn’t love. He can self-entertain with a ball for a long time. Bingo is crate-trained but can also be left in the house freely without concern for destruction. He loves snuggling on the couch and sleeping on the human’s bed. Bingo has been raised in a home with several dogs and would prefer to live with another doggy resident. Bingo enjoys outings to the park, lake, and patio restaurants. He is a great companion and snuggly buddy!

Story
Zeus is very smart and playful, he loves toys and learns routines quickly. Zeus loves to play chase and tug anytime. He is learning his manners well, but he still barks and gets excited easily so he may do best somewhere he has a little space to play on his own. He is very friendly with other people, he wants to play and will go get his toys and attempt to engage you in tug of war. He likes to chase balls but is still learning “drop”. If you have a couple toys to alternate with, he will fetch. He loves belly rubs. Zeus loves his treats but is pretty mellow about mealtimes. He will take food from your hand gently. We give him food 3 times a day and he often eats it slowly throughout the day, he doesn’t gobble food or overeat. When we need to give him pills he will eat a spoon of peanut butter with meds with no problem. Zeus crates well; he will go in there easily if you point inside and often takes naps in there on his own. His foster parents are home a lot so he is a little spoiled with attention, but he is used to being in his crate alone for a few hours at a time. He is both affectionate and sometimes self-sufficient. He likes to be with you or cuddle, and he also seems comfortable napping in the ‘other’ room. We have not tested Zeus with cats but he has a strong chase/hunt instinct and always goes after birds or squirrels. Zeus is sweet but he does get excited and can jump or be a rough player. He is learning not to jump up so much, but he does seem to like standing up on his hind legs. He is also pretty vocal when he is playing

Story
A few of our VERY lucky boxers have had their ADOPTION FEES sponsored, this includes Butterbean! My foster mama says I am a stout, burley chap who is warm, fun-loving, energetic, and playful, bundle of joy. I thrive dishing out out oodles of love, affection and gratitude. Walks are my jam although we are working on fundamental skills. Potty training is solid. Other pups excite me and I want to greet them, but I’ve been keeping some distance as I was on the mend from an eyelid repair. I dig my foster brother and we peacefully coexist. Squeaky chew toys are heaven and I’m adept at gleefully destroying them. Cuddles with mom and my foster brother are also terrific. I am super food motivate and know sit and down. Essentially, I’m terrific all-around pup. I am learning about physical boundaries and do like to swipe my paws on occasion. I’m likely but suited in home with older kids or without. Can’t wait to meet you! Wags and cuddles, Butterbean (B)
