Story
Calliope is a little over a year old, a beautiful mix of pitbull and (we think) border collie. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and brimming with energy. This playful girl loves the outdoors, chew toys, and most of all, anything involving a ball. She would thrive in a home with a yard and someone who enjoys being active, whether that’s playing fetch, going for walks, or just spending time outside. Calliope does great with other dogs. She has been a wonderful addition for our pit bull this past year. Unfortunately, our pitty has been diagnosed with cancer and can no longer keep up with Calliope’s playful energy. Calliope has been wonderful with our 4-year-old, but due to her working dog nature we think she’d do best in a home with older children or adults only. Calliope is a sweet, affectionate dog who deserves a family that can match her enthusiasm and give her the active lifestyle she craves. She wasn’t the right fit for our current situation, but we know the right fit is out there

Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi! My name is Fig!   ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I am the MOST adorable young lady!   HOW OLD ARE YOU? Best we can tell, I was probably born around May 2024.   WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I am a super cute low rider bully mix.   HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? My ideal weight is around 35 pounds. I am working hard to attain that weight through a low calorie diet because I have gained a few extra pounds as I have gotten healthy and comfortable in foster care. At the moment, I weigh 40 pounds.   WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I have a wrinkly face, a cute underbite, and short, chubby legs. My coloring is fawn, and, in the sun, I glow like a beautiful star. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention my gorgeous light green eyes!   WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? As I mentioned, I am watching my calories, so my foster parents feed me a good quality, low calorie kibble.   WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am the sweetest girl ever! One of my favorite things to do is cuddle with a human on the couch because I love the attention. Attention is really the thing for me…I want to be the center of attention, the star of the show, and the life of the party! I am still young, so I have a lot of energy for walks and playtime. Let’s play fetch or tug with my toys!   DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: I am pretty chill in the morning and will wait patiently for my humans to start the day. After dealing with the morning business, I love to go for a walk or a car ride, followed by lots of couch cuddles and naps. After some playtime with my foster brother, we both like to bake in the sun like the potatoes that we are! In sum: naps, cuddles, playtime, and sunbathing would be the perfect day for me.   WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I love pretty much all the toys! Nibbling on my squeaky stuffies is the current favorite, though.   DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? Yes! I know how to sit and stay, and I will “go to apartment,” which is my fancy bedroom pen where I eat my meals and sleep. Oh, and perhaps my best trick is getting any and all humans to sit down on the couch and let me get up on their lap! I am an expert at that trick!   WHAT SCARES YOU? Oh, I am definitely not a fan of loud noises. I am slowly making friends with the vacuum cleaner and the blender—but those things still seem pretty suspicious, if you ask me. To help keep me from getting too scared when I’m alone, my foster mom makes sure I am relaxed and comfortable by turning on the television with soft music.   HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I have hung out with some older kids (over 12 years old) and I did very well. That was fun! I do tend to get excited and jump up on people to get their attention, so it would probably be best if I am in a home with older kids only.   DO YOU LIKE CATS? I haven’t been around any cats, so I can’t say one way or the other. It is probably best that we stick to dog friends for me, thanks.   HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I live with two other dogs in my foster home and we get along great. Introductions were taken slowly to set us up for a successful friendship, and I think that slow intros are key for me. It will help me to have time to get used to a new home, then gradually increasing exposure to any resident dogs in stages. I am playful and fun, and if we do this right, I will be an amazing friend for your dogs!   IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? I would be on the couch, lying comfortably right next to my human or, better yet, lying comfortably ON my human! I will fall asleep as the happiest little nugget in your arms!   HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I am a strong and healthy girl! After I get to my goal weight, I will just need to maintain it and we are good to go!   WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster parents, my foster brother Fez, and my foster sister Hazel. My closest companion is my foster mom, who is my cuddle buddy on the couch as she reads or watches television.   WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I am really great in my “apartment” when my humans leave the house! I settle quickly on my bed and calmly wait for them to return.   WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep comfortably in my cozy apartment. We have occasional slumber parties where we all pile into my foster parents’ bed, and I am such a good girl! I sleep through the night like an angel.   DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I love walks! I get really excited to see my leash come out and then it is so much fun to get out and about in the neighborhood. Sometimes I will just stop mid-stride to spend some time taking in the amazing smells (who doesn’t love all the smells, right?).   DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? I mentioned above that it’s all about me getting all the attention, right? Yeah, that’s the thing. I have a habit of nipping fingers and jumping up on people when I greet them. I am working on not doing this because I know I should be sitting quietly waiting for people to pet me. It’s hard because I love people so much and want to get their attention right away. I hope to learn how to control my excitement better. I will benefit from a forever home that will continue to work with me on my manners and training for good behaviors.   ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? My foster parents make sure that I have access to the backyard on a regular schedule to help prevent accidents in the house. I’ve done great! I sleep through the night with no problem (yay, me!) and I will take myself outside if the door is open. But it is helpful to have a reminder to “go potty” because I sometimes get caught up in all the fun that is happening inside the house and forget to go out.   DO YOU LIKE WATER? I don’t like the hose at all. But I absolutely love a warm, soapy bath. I get all blissed out to the point that I actually fell asleep while bathing the other day!   WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that my foster family makes me feel safe and loved. While I am learning good behaviors, they are so patient with my training. I feel very lucky to have a foster family that is helping me get used to a whole new, wonderful way of life. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I was found roaming the streets of San Francisco. I was extremely skinny and was brought to SF Animal Care and Control. Luckily, I didn’t have to stay at that place very long before NorCal Bully Breed Rescue got me out of there and brought me to my foster home. While in foster care, I have gained weight, my coat is shiny, I give wet sloppy kisses, and I am a great companion dog now. It is time for me to find my forever family! Are you ready to bring me home with you? **FIG’S ADOPTION FEE IS $300.** If you are interested in adopting Fig, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas (which means Sacramento County, parts of El Dorado County and parts of Placer County). Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi there, friend! I’m Charlie! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I’m a boy! HOW OLD ARE YOU? I am around two years old as of September 2025. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I’m a bully mix. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I am the most darling 40-pound house hippo! WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I’m one handsome little devil, if I do say so myself. I’m a lowrider with a beautiful grey coat. My best features are my big smile and fabulous blocky head! WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I'm not too picky, I love kibble and mini marshmallows the most, though. Yum! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am a sweetheart. I love everyone I meet, dogs or humans! I just want to be invited to the party. I love cuddles and belly rubs, and playing with other dogs is the MOST fun thing ever! DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: That’s an easy question, because I am easy to please! Human and dog companionship makes any day perfect. Let’s definitely include some naps in the sun and playtime with my toys! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I love chewing on my Bene Bone. DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I know how to hop like a bunny when I am excited and how to use the furniture as my own personal obstacle course! Those count as tricks, right? WHAT SCARES YOU? I’m a pretty brave boy! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I am a sweet guy, but maybe I’d be best with older children because I like to nibble with my front teeth, like I’m eating corn on the cob, and maybe little kids would be scared of that. DO YOU LIKE CATS? They’re not as cool as dogs, but I’m fine sharing my space with them. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I love dogs! We have so much fun playing together. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Next to my human. I’m happy anywhere you want to go. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? Now that NorCal Bully Breed Rescue got me surgery to open my airway to help me breathe, I am feeling GREAT! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and grandma, and an unspecified number of dogs (several fosters that come and go, I can’t keep track!) WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I am the best boy in my crate. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I am sleep very well in my crate. It’s my safe space. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? Can’t say I’m a huge fan of leash walking, actually. It’s still pretty new to me, so I might learn to enjoy it eventually. But early in my stay at my foster home, I’m not thrilled with the walks right now. DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? Not really. I don't even bark or cry! But I suppose if you’re going to make me label it, the “corn cob” nibbling I mentioned earlier could be called a not-so-great habit. But I’m not biting or even putting my mouth all the way around. It’s just little nibbles with my front teeth. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? I am kinda new to this potty outside concept, so I have some learning to do. I’m a very good boy and will learn with consistency, time, and patience. DO YOU LIKE WATER? I’m pretty thick and not really built for water sports. But maybe if you get me a life vest to keep me safe, we could explore the idea of a swim? WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that I am safe and have friends and toys! IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL YOUR FUTURE ADOPTER? I’m SO ready to start the next phase of my life with my forever family! Let’s do this! **CHARLIE’S ADOPTION FEE IS $300** If you are interested in adopting Charlie, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas (which means Sacramento County, parts of El Dorado County and parts of Placer County). Story
(Miss Moo is not in our rescue. This is a courtesy post for a local foster.) WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Moo Deng (aka Miss Moo) ARE YOU A GIRL OR A BOY? Girl HOW OLD ARE YOU? Around 8 years old WHAT BREED ARE YOU? Pit bull mix HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? Around 50 pounds WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am a grey and white senior angel queen. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? Blueberries and raspberries, carrots, and anything with chicken! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am very laid back and easy going. I can be playful and enjoy toys, but my preference is to be lounging on the couch snuggling with my people. I am silly, curious, sweet, and love meeting new people. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: My perfect day begins with breakfast followed by a nice calm walk. Then, I would like to lay on the couch, snuggle, and nap until I have recovered from my walk. I would enjoy a trip to the pet store to pick out a new toy, where I can come home and promptly rip out all of the fluff. On the way home, I will insist that I get to hang my head out the window to feel the wind. I might also like a ride through the car wash. After play time, I will be ready for dinner and another calm walk. After my walk, I will be ready to relax for the rest of the night, snuggling on the couch with my people. It doesn’t take much to make this girl feel loved!! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? Anything fluffy and anything with a squeaker! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I can sit and stay! WHAT SCARES YOU? My only fear is not finding a forever home. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? DO YOU LIKE THEM? I love children! I have encountered many kids on walks and I always greet them with tail wags and kisses. I have no issues with kids. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I am not cat safe! I have a strong prey drive. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I can be selective. I am most comfortable with male dogs my size or bigger. My foster parents avoid small dogs that could be misconstrued for prey, and I have had issues with female dogs in the past. I am also perfectly comfortable being the only dog in the house. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? On a comfy couch with lots and lots of blankets! HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I am in great health! I am a senior girl, so I can be low energy sometimes, but no health issues! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? In my foster home, I live with two humans! My favorite companion is my foster mom, Nicole. My foster dad is cool, but not as cool as mom. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? When I am home alone, I stay in the living room. Foster mom closes all doors so I cannot access other rooms. I typically hang on the couch while they are away! WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep on the couch in the living room and sometimes, if I am lucky, I sleep in bed with my foster parents. I can be a bed hog though. I am very respectful and sleep wherever they ask me to, even if it’s the floor. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I love walks and walk great on the leash. I love to explore and sniff. DO YOU HAVE ANY "NOT-SO-GREAT" HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? FOR INSTANCE, DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD? I can be mischievous when home alone. I have pulled a box of fruit snacks and a bag of tortillas off the counter. On both occasions, I ripped the packages open and ate what was inside. This is easily avoided if food is kept out of my reach when I am home alone. Otherwise, no bad habits that anyone has identified! ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? (MEANING DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE) I am house trained and know to potty outside! DO YOU LIKE WATER? I love water and love to annoy my foster parents with my wet drippy snout after I drink it. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that my foster family buys me toys, gives me snuggles and attention, and makes me feel safe. I also love when they take me on adventures and let me hang my head out the window in the car. HOW DO PEOPLE GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? If anyone has questions about Miss Moo, they can text her foster mom, Nicole Vanek at 219-743-5891, or message us on TikTok! Moo’s TikTok is “Miss Moo”https://www.tiktok.com/@miss.moo63?_t=ZT-8xZ1mbKYMVZ&_r=1 ⭐️ Miss Moo is located in the Sacramento area but her fosters are willing to drive her (within reason) to the perfect home. Moo’s adoption fee is $175. ⭐️

Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi there! My name is Opal! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I am the most darling girl! HOW OLD ARE YOU? Best guess is that I was born in mid-2025. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I am a pit bull mix… the best breed around in my opinion. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I am a perfectly proportioned 25 pounds of preciousness. WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am a small gal, with white fur and a really cute mocha-colored spot over my eye and on both my ears. Foster mom tells me I have a very long tail… seems perfect to me. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I like puppy food and Fruitables treats, but I am not picky! And just for the record, fake plants are not edible… I definitely don’t care for those. WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I can be a little shy at first, whether meeting new dogs or humans. But I am very friendly and cuddly after I warm up. Once I feel at home, I am ruling the roost with equal parts play and snuggles. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: Sleep, eat, play, repeat! I am easy to please. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I love ALL toys! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I am a work in progress, but I know how to sit, which is pretty impressive, in my opinion! I also go into my crate very easily for bedtime and nap time. But if you’d like me to play hard to get, I’ll take a bribe (or two or three) to “convince” me to go in. WHAT SCARES YOU? I am a pretty brave young girl! As I said, I might seem shy at initial meetings, but that’s just me being cautious, not really scared. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I got to hang out with some 8- and 10-year-old girls, and they were fun! I haven’t been around little kids yet, though. I am still very young and am learning not to be too mouthy. But as I get older, I will learn not to bump kids around! I just like to play. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I haven’t met any cats. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I love other dogs and play well. Please set me up for success with slow and proper introductions! If I start to get over-excited with my friends, I take a short time out to calm down and keep playtime fun for everyone. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Oh, that’s easy… I’d probably be somewhere surrounded by tasty steaks and other delicacies. But my second choice is on my person’s lap snuggling. You like puppy smooches? HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? All good! Healthy puppy with a long tail over here! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? Well, the lady who feeds me is my favorite, of course, but I sure do love my foster dog brother, Noodle. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I hang out in my comfy crate during the day while everyone is away. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep in my crate and am perfect in it. Not one accident yet! DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I am a work in progress! I am new to the whole walking thing, but I am learning quickly. And it is definitely NOT my fault those pesky squirrels keep taunting me! The outdoors is new and everything makes me want to chat. Hello, hello, hello! DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? Sometimes I greet people with my puppy paws, but I am working on staying down. I just get so excited when humans come to see me! ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? I’m doing great! As a puppy, I need a routine to help me learn good habits, and will need you to be patient with me as I learn where and when you want me to go. But once we get it figured out together, I’ll be such a good girl! DO YOU LIKE WATER? If you are speaking of a warm bubble bath, sure. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? Having a place to sleep and get regular meals is just the best. And having a playful companion is the super best part! It is nice that they are patient with me and help me learn how to be a good pup! IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL YOUR FUTURE ADOPTER? I’m SO ready to find out how much fun life can be with my forever family! I’m really excited to be part of a family of my own. Will you please take me home and love me forever? **OPAL’S ADOPTION FEE IS $300** If you are interested in adopting Opal, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas (which means Sacramento County, parts of El Dorado County and parts of Placer County). Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hello! I am Martini! ARE YOU A GIRL OR A BOY? I'm a girl. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I think I'm about three years old. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I am an American Bully mix. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I am 50 svelte pounds. WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I look like a lot of fun. But, I'm also a stocky girl with a black/tri-colored coat and the hugest smile! So yeah, I’m gorgeous! WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? Oh, I think the easier question here would be, “What do you NOT like to eat?” And the answer would be, “Nothing!” If you’re offering, I’m eating! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I'm a bunch of fun. I'm outgoing and love to run around. I love everyone I meet, and everyone I meet says I’m a bundle of fun! DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: I love everything everyday. I'm super happy whether we're outside hanging out or lounging inside. I'm your gal! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I'm not really into toys. Occasionally, I'll chew on a Nylabone. DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I know how to eat all the food in my bowl. Pretty tricky, right? I come when called and I kennel up nicely. WHAT SCARES YOU? Not a thing. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? DO YOU LIKE THEM? I haven't been around young children. I think kids eight years and above would be best as I have some smooth moves that only older kids can appreciate. DO YOU LIKE CATS? No cats for me. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I like other dogs with a proper introduction. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Free fallin' in love with you. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I’m all good! Ready to take on all that life has to offer! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I hang out with several other dogs. We can run and play all day. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I am so happy hanging out, usually belly-up, in my kennel. I catch up on my beauty sleep and truly love my down time. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? Same as above. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? Sure do! If it gets me out and about in the big fabulous world, count me in! DO YOU HAVE ANY "NOT-SO-GREAT" HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? FOR INSTANCE, DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD? Hmm. Is wagging my tail nonstop with a giant smile on my face a not-so-great habit? No? OK, then no, I do not have anything to report here. My foster mom says I am PERFECT, and I tend to agree with her! ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? (MEANING DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE) Yes I do! I’m such a good girl! DO YOU LIKE WATER? I like to drink water but no pools/ponds or lakes for me. I'm not a swimmer, I have more of a powerlifter physique. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? They took me in when no one else would. I was stuck at the shelter until they came and fell in love with me and took me home. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? That's water under the bridge. Nothing but great days ahead as long as I'm with you. Let’s have some fun!
