Story
I adopted Winnie from the yolo county animal shelter through a foster home a little over a year ago. Winnie was found abandoned in west sacramento and needed a lot of medical attention. She is around 6-7yrs old. She made a full physical recovery but was left with some fear and anxiety from past trauma. She is very loving, happy and obedient at home without strangers present. She does show signs of aggression when males, children or any stranger comes into our home. Winnie would do great in a quiet home with a patient owner how does not have other pets or children. Once she feels safe she is the best companion and enjoys walks at the park, car rides to the beach and snuggling. She is a really special dog and deserves a home where she feels safe and secure. I can provide more info as needed and will do anything I can to find her a loving home and make the transition as easy as possible. She has everything she needs that can accompany her. She is a sweet girl.

Story
Hi there! I`m Queenie! An adorable pitty looking for a loving home. I was brought to the shelter as a stray and I was very underweight. A loving foster has been caring for me and helping me get big and strong! Read what my foster had to say about me:Queenie is doing quite well!  She is 99% potty trained and she is gaining weight. She walks well on a leash, she likes other dogs and all people, she loves kids too!  She`s a happy girl. She gets very excited so she can jump on people, a home with older kids might be better because she can`t contain her love!  She`s very loving and doesn`t show any signs of separation anxiety.  She`s a great dog.

Story
Hi, I`m Submarine, a 1 year old boy ready for his forever home! Submarine went on a doggie day out adventure on 2/22, here is what his people had to say: `I had a great day with Submarine! We started the morning with a walk and treated him to a pup cup. He loves playing with his toy squirrel and relaxing on the couch for a nap afterward. Then, we took him on a walk at Sac State, and he did a great job while we were there. Submarine was very friendly with everyone he was around and enjoys having anyone around him. He is also very affectionate and also enjoys napping on the couch while being petted.`Submarine went on another doggie day out adventure on 3/1, here is what his people had to say: `We started by visiting Crocker Park to get some zoomies out, then walked along the river on the Robert T. Matsui Waterfront to Old Sac. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and explored the area. Submarine enjoyed meeting new people and getting all kinds of attention! We also drove over to R Street and picked up a yummy pup cup from Salt & Straw. We had a great day with this bundle of love!! He is Mellow, strong but gentle, loves people and loves being pet. Curious and a people-watcher. Active, wants to move!! `

Story
Cuddle Bug’s name says so much — but his heart is saying even more. This sweet boy came to the shelter through a confiscation case, and while we don’t know much about his past, it’s clear he’s been through a lot. He’s shy, sensitive, and still learning that the world can be kind. In his kennel, Cuddle Bug keeps to himself, tail tucked and eyes watchful. Sudden movements and loud noises make him nervous, but there’s hope shining through: on intake, he surprised everyone by leaning in for affection and soaking up love from staff. He’s shown gentle, avoidant behavior with other dogs and recently met a female shepherd in a calm dog-to-dog. No aggression, just quiet curiosity and a desire to retreat — suggesting he may do well with a confident canine friend who can show him the ropes at his own pace.Cuddle Bug is one of those dogs who just needs a safe, quiet place to exhale — where he can build trust on his own timeline with patient people by his side. He doesn’t need much, just a chance. He is a big fan of treats and after he observes you for a bit, will gently approach and take treats ever so gently from your hand. We know there’s a heart out there that beats in rhythm with his. He’s not the kind to push forward and ask to be seen — so we`re asking for him.If you can offer this boy the security, healing, and love he deserves, please come meet him today.Sometimes the quietest dogs have the loudest impact on our hearts. Let’s help Cuddle Bug find the peace he’s been waiting for.* Cuddle Bug`s adoption fee has been paid for with a donation from a community member *
