Story
I rescued my dog Benson last October. He was just under 1 year old so he is about 2 now. I recently got a new job that is going to have me traveling quite often and as much as it kills me I don’t think I’ll be giving benson the attention he needs. I am looking for someone who is experienced with behavioral dogs. He is the sweetest boy and once he gets to know you he’ll give you all of his love. He was a stray at one point so he still will get skiddish and nervous in some scenarios but for the most part he is so well behaved. He’s very silly and loves to talk… he will let you know what he needs trust me. He requires a lot of attention but it is well worth the time put in he will love you to death.

Story
Cocoa von Cologne is a beautiful, 2-year-old Pitbull. She's a tail-wagging bundle of joy who's ready to be your forever friend. This delightful girl exudes happiness from the moment you set eyes on her – her wagging tail and eager demeanor are impossible to resist. Although she might pull a bit on her leash in her excitement, Cocoa quickly responds to directions and settles into the rhythm of a delightful walk. This intelligent girl is housebroken, knows her sit command and takes treats with the utmost gentleness, showcasing her desire to please and her quick wit. In playgroups Cocoa is a social butterfly, reveling in the opportunity to frolic and engage with her fellow canines. If you're looking for a loving, sweet and energetic companion, Cocoa is the perfect match to brighten your days and fill your heart with warmth. (No cats please.) IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Cocoa von Cologne YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Story
Ty von Houston is a beautiful 7-8 year old Pitbull. She is a blue nose Pitt Bull who was grandfathered into WGSR as a puppy when we moved to our facility on Hill Street 7 years ago. It saddens us that she has been living in a kennel ever since. She is fed well and our staff walks her every day, but Ty needs a big-hearted adopter to show her what it’s like to live in a home and be loved by her very own person(s). Ty’s a big, sweet girl who loves getting belly rubs. She walks well on leash and enjoys running and playing with other dogs. She is housebroken and crate-trained. She likes giving kisses and just lounging by your side. Ty also revels in rolling on her back in the grass. She has a wicked tail wag that makes her whole butt wiggle. She has fun playing with puppies/young dogs at the rescue. She’s also treat-motivated and takes them gently. She did a few weeks of in-home training and was amazing. This special girl knows her sit and down commands and likes to show off in our kiddie pool. She is protective of her home, but isn’t that a good thing? Ty needs a loving hero – might it be you? IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Ty von Houston YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Story
Aalto is a 2 year old pit bull cattle dog mix. She's a sweet pup looking for someone who has time to give her the structure she needs to thrive. She needs a structured walk daily. Ideally she goes to a home with an enclosed yard, she is very active. She has leash reactivity which we have been working through with a trainer but she needs an experienced adopter who can provide her continued structure and training. She barks and sometimes lunges at other dogs on walks because of her leash reactivity but if off leash, she would roll onto her back and play with other dogs. She is okay with other dogs when playing. She has never bitten anyone or anything. She is not good with cats. We welcomed our daughter 1 year ago and as our daughter has started to crawl and walk Aalto started to struggle in our home. She is hesitant about the baby and it has gotten to a point that we feel Aalto would be happier with a different family that doesn't have children.

Story
Hi, my name is Blue and I’m a 5 year old pit bull mix. I’m a smootchy boy that loves head scratches and cuddle time. I’m looking for someone who understands that at some point in my life, I didn’t have anything, so I find it hard to share my toys or hang out with other dogs. While I love watching TV and cuddling up to watch a movie with my pawpa, he’s at work a lot and doesn’t have a big house for me to run around in. I would love to have a yard because I love sunbathing and stretching my legs. I’m a loyal companion, I’m trained and have never made an accident in the house

Story
Junior is an affectionate dog who adores humans and gets along well with most dogs. Unfortunately, his tolerance for small dogs has diminished due to their tendency to bark at him. As a result, it's best to keep him away from small dogs during walks. Junior dislikes dogs approaching him at high speeds. He thrives when outdoors and enjoys sleeping in bed with his humans. Junior's loving nature is truly remarkable

Story
I am fostering Avery, a beautiful, two-year-old, female, pit-lab mix, 45lbs, spayed, microchip, all shots. Avery was at the Downey Shelter, and scheduled for euthanasia. I was unable to find a rescue to pull Avery, and the only way to save her was to welcome her into my home through adoption. Avery is well-behaved, and is showing remarkable progress in crate training and house training. She has interacted with my two dogs with no incident. She is affectionate, intelligent, curious, playful, smart, funny, and incredibly sweet. She responds well to direction, is easy to leash, and has a tolerant and obedient nature. I've been taking her to the dog park every day where she loves to run and play with the other dogs. She is so sweet it's ridiculous. Please adopt Avery she will make a wonderful addition to any loving family.
