Story
Chance is a very friendly, loving boy. He is 3 years old, and lights up every room he walks in to. He loves attention and cuddles. He is food motivated, so he is easy to train. He is obedient, and does what he is told - e.g., stay, drop, stop it, etc. He knows sit, down and paw (shake) as tricks. He knows not to do things - e.g., avoid certain furniture, not eat certain foods, etc. He needs a home that can give him attention and cuddles, and he is full of energy so he is a great personal trainer! I am fostering him while he finds his forever home. I even lost weight while with him as he makes me want to go outside. I wish I could keep him, but I cannot. He is so amazing and brilliant.

Story
Meet Bodhi! Bodhi is an active guy looking to be your best friend. He enjoys playing with toys, going for hikes, and showing off his smarts. He already knows `sit`, `wait`, `stay` and `down` and would love to bond with his new family through positive reinforcement base training to learn more. Shelter staff and volunteers have been pairing Bodhi up with other Shelter dogs for play sessions and group walks. He has learned a lot from these positive experiences and would benefit from continuing these things in his adoptive home. Bodhi would thrive from one on one play with a dog instead of a dog park or dog beach environment. Bodhi has lived with teenagers in a previous home. A home with sturdy children is likely a fit. Bodhi is house trained and ready to spring into his new home. If you are looking for a BFF - come meet Bodhi today.

Story
Meet Diego! He is a sweet guy who is looking for a soft place to land. Diego has been social with staff and volunteers. He enjoys going for walks around the property with staff and volunteers. When meeting dogs at the Shelter, Diego broke into adorable playbows and solicited play with dogs. A home with another dog may be a fit but any resident dogs are recommended to meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. We do not have any history of Diego with cats or small animals.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Important:   We're a small (but mighty!) volunteer-run organization. To be considered for one of our adoptable animals, you must first submit an   application   at stfrancisanimal.org. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, a volunteer will contact you within 72 hours only if it's a possible match. Stormi was found alone, shivering in the rain under a bush in San Jose at 6 months old in December 2022. She was adopted in January 2023, becoming part of a happy family with a young couple and their large dog. The dogs did well most of the time and loved to play. However, the family’s other dog wasn’t always keen on Stormi, with the resident dog initiating fights. While her family loves her dearly, they made the difficult decision to rehome her for her mental and physical well-being. Stormi is 1.5 years old, about 50 pounds, and still has puppy energy, but is a sweet cuddle bug as well. She loves to play with toys, especially playing tug, but will also happily gnaw on a chew toy. She loves to de-stuffy soft toys (gotta get that squeaker!). She adores adventures and will run her little heart out at the park. She’s a big fan of chasing anything you throw, but she can’t promise she’ll bring them back. (Bonus: That means you get your steps in too!) If given the opportunity, Stormi would likely love and excel at agility courses—she’s smart as a whip and learns quickly. Stormi is a lover and snuggler who always wants to be with you, freely giving kisses at every opportunity. She loves to be on the couch with her humans but will also chill in her doggy bed for naps. Stormi’s mom took her to work several times a week. Stormi loved getting to say hi to all her coworkers. Stormi was so happy to be in the office that she sometimes gave folks sneaky elbow licks or demanded pets and love. She would love to have a backyard, but has made do with a small outdoor courtyard. She will do best if she has free access to an outdoor space to go potty. She can hold it for several hours but has a small bladder and needs to go out frequently. Stormi loves people and warms up quickly, but given her rough start in life, Stormi prefers greeting new people on her terms. She does best when ignored and allowed to sniff, choosing for herself when she wants pets or attention. (We get you, Stormi—personal space is personal space!) Once she’s decided to be friends, Stormi is friends forever. Stormi is crate trained and very food motivated. She’ll do just about anything for a treat. She has some training and can sit, lay down, get in to heel position, load up (into the car), get off, back it up, get out (of a room); she is working on wait, stay, come, on your bed, and heel. Stormi still pulls on leash and needs someone who can work with her on leash manners as well as other skills. Storni loves people and other dogs, and despite the scraps with her dog brother, has been fostered in a home with many resident dogs and numerous doggy visitors as her fosterer runs doggy day care and boarding out of his home. Stormi has been great with all the other dogs and has had no incidents while in foster. She has been great with the resident cat at foster in the house, but when outside is prone to chase cats. Stormi has met older kids and does fine, and for the first 2-3 weeks after being rescued lived in a home with teenagers, but otherwise has not lived with kids. She would likely do fine in a house with older kids. Stormi is healthy, spayed, and up to date on all her shots. She has several scars from the fights she got in with her dog brother. Stormi gets very anxious at the vet, so she takes anti-anxiety medication several hours before a vet visit and wears a muzzle in the clinic. Stormi is an amazing, and beautiful, dog who is a lovebug through and through. She generally has two modes: high energy chaos monster and crashed out cuddle bug who just wants to lay near you. She wears her heart on her sleeve, or rather her face in the form of her heart shaped nose. Stormi is hoping you will take her home and let her love you and be loved furever.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 12:09 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cuddle Bug Alert! Amazing April is a gorgeous 74 pound 6 year-old pittie mix. According to her foster mom, April is an excellent cuddle-bug whose love language is giving kisses…lots and lots of slobbery kisses! And did we mention this smart girl has a thing for carrying a favorite toy in her mouth on walks? How adorable is that? At home, April likes to be included in whatever’s going on. However, she will gladly retire to her crate for quiet time or when her people need to be out of the house. Her foster mom says April does fine if left at home in her crate for a few hours. Car rides are always a welcome treat for April and she's a great dog to bring along to visit friends or explore new places. She loves her walks and is enthusiastic about exploring her neighborhood.. April's been working on her reactivity towards dogs that bark at her and has made a lot of progress so far — she just needs some help redirecting her attention and keeping a safe distance.  Like many dogs of her breed, April has a sensitive stomach and skin so she'll need ongoing vet care to help manage that. A special non-prescription diet and regular allergy medication keeps April happy and healthy. April would do best being the only pet in a dog-savvy home where she can continue her training, get lots of opportunities for enrichment and play, and receive all the love she deserves. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Handsome, calm gentlemanTustin is a 76lb, approx 6 year old American Pitbull Terrier mix. Sweet Tustin was not given the best chances in his life. He lived at the shelter for nearly a year when he was adopted out to someone who refused to keep him on leash, which landed him back in the shelter. Soon after, he was returned to that person and they walked him into a situation where he was attacked by anther dog, suffering a fractured cheek, torn ear and many lacerations. Because of his medical needs and the dog fight, Tustin was placed on Final at the shelter. It is a testament to this dog's character that he never gave up. And thanks to some amazing folks who saw his gentle beauty, he found a foster home with SV Pet Project. Tustin has been working hard on the important things in life - decompressing, relaxing, and being loved. While he still has a small surgery planned, we expect he will soon be ready for his forever home. This beautiful boy is housetrained, loves the car, walks great on leash, and is gentle and sweet with every human he has met. Because of his recent trauma, any home with a dog will require time, patience and proper management to help Tustin to feel safe and secure. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.   Adoption fees for dogs: http://www.svpetproject.org/info/adoption Stay up-to-date on what our dogs are up to by following us on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/svpetprojectVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 19, 2024, 6:46 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Snuggly Senior Bully!Boo is a 42lb, 10 year old female pitbull mix. Sweet, happy Boo is such a delightful girl! She loves to play with toys, LOVES snacks, rides great in the car, is a champion crate user, and lives for the snuggles with her humans! She is house trained and knows how to use a doggy door, too. Poor Boo likely spent most of her life being neglected, and her skin and fur have suffered for it. She is currently being treated for skin infections and has already begun regular allergy medicine, which is helping her a great deal. Currently, Boo lives with another female bully mix, indicating she can coexist with other dogs. However, Boo is selective about her canine companions, especially while she heals and decompresses. She is not suited for homes with cats or small dogs, as she shows too much interest in them. Out of the home and in public, Boo does great! She is not leash reactive, walks great on leash, and enjoys meeting new people! The years of neglect she suffered have left Boo with some scars, but she is an incredibly resilient and happy girl. With proper care and consistency to manage her allergies, this sweet senior will give her forever family love and laughter for the rest of her days!
