Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on November 21, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Lucy, a big fan of Starbucks pup cups and veteran car-rider! Although she's sometimes a bit shy when meeting new people, this sweet girl warms up fast in response to baby talk. Once that happens, she becomes a social butterfly who loves exploring the world on walks and receiving attention from the people she meets along the way. Lucy has polite leash manners and remarkable stamina for an older dog, and she's up for just about any excursion. Come and meet this affectionate pup and find out for yourself just what a charmer she is! IN FOSTER: This animal's foster is committed to helping them find a new family! To begin the adoption process, please reach out to the foster directly at: Annie.chris.shared@gmail.com. At SDHS:Lucy has been vaccinated, microchipped and Spayed. She is now ready for her new home! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brindle Weight: 46.5625 Age: 9yrs 11mths 3wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Popeye was brought in by a community member on August 19, 2025.Why this pet is the one for you:Ahoy, Matey! Meet Popeye! This salty little sailor is ready to drop anchor into your home! Popeye's spent most of his life as an outdoor adventurer, so he's still learning the ropes of indoor living - but with a steady captain by his side, he'll be shipshape in no time. This spirited sailor prefers to keep his treasures (like food and toys) close, so his crew will need to be over the age of 10 and help him feel safe by trading items and keeping high-value booty tucked away. He can also display some reactivity towards other dogs, so he's best kept away from dog parks and off-leash voyages. If you do have another pup or older children in the home, make sure to bring them along to meet prior to adopting. With a bit of structure, patience and treats, Popeye will be the best first mate you could ask for! Don't forget to bring a leash and collar for a safe transport home! At SDHS:Popeye has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home! Dog Reactive Dog: Popeye requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about him. Primary Color: Blue Secondary Color: White Weight: 62.6 Age: 6yrs 4mths 2wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Jovan was brought in by a community member on October 2, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Jovan is a distinguished senior gentleman and a true gentle giant. He came to us as a stray, so we don't know much about his past - but what we do know is that he adores calm spaces, cozy naps and sunbathing like it's an art form. He loves being pet and will happily lean in for all the affection you're willing to give. He's done well interacting with other pups in our care and seems to be potty-trained. Like many seniors, he's shown some possible signs of arthritis in our care, but nothing gets in the way of his ability to appreciate the simple joys in life. Jovan is looking for a peaceful home where he can take things slow, soak up the sunshine and be your loyal, low-key companion. If you've got a sunny spot and a soft bed, Jovan is ready to settle in and steal your heart. At SDHS:Jovan has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!Jovan has been chosen as an Employee Pick! To see what makes him extra special click here. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 87 Age: 8yrs 3mths 0wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Pike was brought in by his previous owner on June 27, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Pike, a total sweetheart with a big heart and even bigger kisses! This affectionate boy loves to follow his people around and be part of the action. He's an active pup who enjoys outings and gets excited to hit the road - he may pull on the leash at first, but settles in nicely and walks well after that. Pike already knows how to "sit" and would thrive with positive reinforcement training and a consistent routine to help channel his enthusiasm. He's done well with other dogs on outings but may prefer to be the only dog at home due to some guarding behaviors and reactivity. If you have another dog, bring them in to see if it's a good match! Pike also has a positive history living with cats and children! Come meet this lovable guy and see if he's the perfect fit - don't forget to bring the whole family! At SDHS:Pike has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home! Dog Reactive Dog:Pike requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about him. Primary Color: Blue Weight: 75.125 Age: 5yrs 6mths 1wks
