Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bella...Yes, that Bella - the loyal, soulful girl who takes her role as your shadow very seriously.  Bella is a 3 year old spayed pit mix with a huge heart and even bigger capacity for love.  Once she bonds with you, you're her person, period.  She's affectionate, goofy, and happiest when she knows exactly where her humans are.  Bella enjoys her walks and generally does well on a leash, though she may pull at times when she's excited (life is just very thrilling sometimes).   She's crate trained at night and settles well, but she does have some separation anxiety and would do best with someone who understands this and can help her continue to build confidence when left alone.  Poor Bella was brought into the rescue with 4 other pit bulls who were abandoned when their owner died, she was locked in the room with her deceased owner and this seems to have created a lot of anxiety and separation issues that she has come a long way on but still has some work to do.  Bella's ideal home is cat free and with older kids who understand dog boundaries.  A family or person willing to be patient and consistent and she does great with other dogs and is currently living with 2 big male dogs.  Bella is also up to date on vaccines, neg heartworm test, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $350 To adopt Bella, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 6, 2026, 11:53 pm

Story
Hi there, my name is Vanessa and I'm about 1 1/2 years old. I'm a really pretty young girl. If you have seen my pictures my coat is a reversed brindle. I had DNA test, and it summed up I am a Pittie but mixture of many other dog breeds. What does that mean? I'm your All-American Mutt but I'm a smart All-American Mutt. I weigh 55#s. It's been almost a year since I've been in my foster home, and I've seen so many of my foster friends come in and find their forever families. In some ways, I am happy for them. They get those magic words "forever home" and I wonder when it's going to be my turn. When I lay on the couch with my foster Mom, she tells me "Vanessa, there is a family out there for you - you just wait." I look at her adoringly and I believe her. I trust my foster Mom so much. She's taught me so much in my year with her. She taught me how to SIT, COME, WAIT, walk on leash and no jump. The last one is work in progress. I've met so many new people and new dogs that my circle of friends gets bigger and bigger. She calls it socialization and manners. She tells new people I have to learn manners where I don't bark or jump when I meet new people. I get so excited when I meet new people, but I do calm down. It takes me about 2 minutes to calm down. You scratch my butt I'll be your BF in no time. When all my foster friends were finding their forever homes my foster Mom said V (that's her nickname for me) we need to expand your social circle - let's go to doggie daycare. Can you believe a rescue dog like me went from being a stray, living in a ditch to being the life of the party at doggie daycare? Well, believe it because that's me! I love when I go to doggie daycare. The staff knows when I come - butt scratches! I get to play all day with about 10 new friends and when I come home, I snore all night. In my foster home there are small and other dogs my size and I'm good with all of them. There was once a little dog that was so crabby that I was actually scared of him. I stayed away but I eventually made friends with him. Even with his crabbiness he got a home, so I know with my cheerful demeanor there is a home for me. There's also cats here in my foster home. Some are the resident cats and some are foster cats. Pitties are known to not be the greatest with cats and I can attest to that. I am not mean to them at all, but I will chase them. The cats here are all dog savvy. In the one year I have lived in the same home with numerous cats and dogs I can say I can live with other cats. It's the Human that has to make it work. Know what my foster Mom's trick is? Baby gates and teaching me "Vanessa, off." At nighttime I sleep in my crate. If there are no cats in the home I won't need one. I don't get into anything. I'm past the chewing stage. I do like sleeping on the couch, but I also like my crate. I know the command "go kennel" and I give you a bark (btw my bark is loud) when I got to do my business. There is also a bell by the door that I hit with my nose to tell you I gotta go out. So, about my barking? I have to tell you a story. One day, there was a bad storm, the nice neighbors tree fell down. All the electrical wires came out and there was all these booming noises and popping sounds. (transformers). Nobody got hurt but ComEd was in our backyard in the middle of the night. I did not like that! I had to tell my foster Mom, and I barked & barked. I woke her up to alert her to the booming/popping noise and this strange person in her yard. I might not make a good watch dog (I'd give too many kisses), but I did a great job in alerting my people who I love so much. I hope one day I have a family of my own. I hope maybe they will have another dog I can play with and maybe teach me manners so I can master the NO JUMP. I would love to continue with my new family on my daily walks and I would be so lucky if my new home has a fenced yard, and I have a young boy/girl that can play ball or frisbee with me. I do that now. I chase it but I get distracted & don't bring it back. I'll learn one day because I'm so smart. I know there are so many Pitties like me needing homes, and we all are so special. We just need the chance for someone to read our profiles - so I thank you for reading my profile. I hope I get the chance to meet you so I can win you over and you can fall in love with me.
