Story
Mittens is an approximately 1 year old male Pitbull mix. He was brought in as a stray at just 17.4 lbs and absolutely skeletal. Mittens is now feeling MUCH better and weighs 28 lbs and is now looking for his forever home. Mittens has been around some dogs, he does get overstimulated at times and can be very rough with his playing with other dogs. He can be a little snappy about taking treats and for this and a few other reasons we recommend him being placed with a family with older or no children. His adoption fee is $60 and includes his neuter, microchip, negative heartworm test and vaccinations. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov to start the adoption process.

Story
Meet Draco! Draco is a sweet boy who was surrendered due to his owner moving into an apartment. He is a good dog, energetic and loves to hang out in the yard and enjoy the sunshine! Draco is 3 years old. He has lived with other dogs, cats and kids. Would do better in a home without cats/small animals (per previous owner). He does know some basic commands and is housetrained. Would do better with female dogs (reportedly) but doesn't seem to have an issue with any other dogs here so far. Draco was diagnosed as a pup with a grade 2-3 heart murmur. We have not done any follow up diagnostics but he is heartworm negative. Draco has no cardiac symptoms at all and should not need medications or additional follow up care to our knowledge. Draco's adoption fee is $120 and includes his neuter, microchip, vaccinations and negative heartworm test. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov for more information or if you are interested in adopting.

Story
Clyde came in with his friend Bonnie.  These poor dogs were left in a public restroom tied up.  Clyde had chewed through his leash but didn't leave Bonnie.  That being said, now that they are safe and comfortable they really aren't that attached and would probably do better separated.  Clyde does best with dogs his size or bigger and needs a slow introduction, he would be great all by himself, soaking up all the people attention.  He loves to play, especially fetch and has tons of energy to burn off.  He still needs some work on his manners but is doing much better on his chewing and seems to be housebroken and is working on his basic commands.  He has not met a cat yet and is most likely too much for them.  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $500 To adopt Clyde email us at kakf3133@gmail.comJune 24, 2024, 3:42 pm

Story
Vatto is really sweet dog that loves walks and cuddles and bathes. Bones to chew. He is a great guy. He just likes to be the only star of the show. He is not kind to other pets in the home. He does well with kids as young as 10. We love him and this is really hard to do but it's not fair to him or his brother to continue having them together. We tried for a long time in fear He would be left at a shelter if we let him go. He is older now so no zoomies but still loves his walks and letting you know if anyone has stepped on your property. He doesn't just bark at everything. He loves to be with family and enjoy a quiet evening. He is crate trained. This is really hard for us but we want him to be happy.

Story
Hi there, my name is Vanessa and I'm about 11 months old. I'm a really pretty young girl. If you have seen my pictures my coat is a reversed brindle. I a DNA test and it summed up I am a Pittie but mixture of many other dog breeds. What does that mean? I'm your All-American Mutt but I'm a smart All-American Mutt. But my foster Mom calls me silly and a Beauty. It's hard to tell by my pictures but as I mentioned my coat is a reversed brindle. I look big in the pictures, but I am not. I only weigh 46#s. I'm done growing unless of course I get lots of treats which what dog doesn't like. I was found as a stray when I was a puppy. I didn't know where my home was, so the AC Handlers brought me to a TN shelter. I got my Freedom Ride from Treasured Animal Rescue. Boy! That was a long ride. So many doggies & cats drive for like forever up North. I saw my foster Mom when she opened the van, and I wasn't scared. I knew right then I my future is going to be much better than what I had in TN. I'm in a foster home that has other foster dogs that are close to my age or size, and we play all day long. We sleep in our own crates and I'm a good girl and don't make a mess. I will give out a yip or a bark when I need to go potty. I love getting my food in my crate and I look for more when the other dogs are done. Who would have thought being a foster doggie I would be so pampered. There are also cats that live here. The resident cats are very dog savvy so they know how to respond to a dog like me who once in a while will bark at them. The foster kitties are learning from the resident cats that dogs bark and speaking of my bark - it's loud! I'm normally a quiet girl but when I have to tell you something, like go outside to do my business or I see the Mail Lady I will bark. I know SIT and give PAW. My best command is "Vanessa, be pretty". Gees, that's a no brainer. I like to spend my day hanging outside but if it's hot out I want to be indoors or under a tree with shade. I like to find one of many doggie bones and enjoy the fresh air with my bone. I don't mind if the other dogs take my bone away or sit next to me. I like to share. I will get zoomies once in a while too but after my zoomie spell is done, I then chill out. I like to lounge around on the couch or by your feet. One day I am going to have a forever family of my own. While I wait for my family I will play with the other dogs and learn new things. When I meet my forever family we can go for a walk, and I will show how well I listen and walk on a leash. Maybe when you bring me to your house, I will have my own doggie bed, or I can curl up on your lap when you watch TV. I will always be your loyal pup because you chose me, and I promise to make you laugh. Can't wait to meet you! Vanessa Vanessa was tested and treated for heart worm. She has received a clean bill of health from our vets. Heart worm is all gone! She will need to be on heart worm prevention for the rest of her life; like any other dog needs to be. S Vanessa is located in our foster home in Aurora.
