Story
Arriving at TJO as a stray, Tego took a while to become comfortable and settle in. Once he did, though, he made it clear just how much he loves to be around people. He can be quite pushy, though, and can be uncomfortable with some types of handling. He's definitely a dog that's in need of a family who will help him build his confidence and make the world less scary.OTHER PETS:Tego has strong social skills, but he can be pushy and unsure at times. He would be likely to do well with a confident, relaxed dog who will help him build a dog-dog relationship. [Case-by-Case (Must Meet First)] NO SMALL DOGSOWNER EXPERIENCE: Tego can be pushy and overzealous with people at times, so someone who can help him build his confidence and has experience with dogs of a similar temperament would be ideal. [Some Experience]KIDS: Tego is uncomfortable with some types of handling and can be quite pushy, so older kids who are able to understand and respect his needs are ideal. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL:Tego can get over-excited at times, but knows how to settle after a bit. He's a dog who would be likely to enjoy some routine walks with a good nap afterwards, as well as other kinds of mental enrichment. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE:[Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED:Positive reinforcement training will help Tego to not only build a bond with his new owner, but also ensure that he understands basic cues and skills, such as loose-leash walking. Story
Fefe came to TJO as a very nervous stray who was slow to warm up, but once she became more comfortable she started looking for love and attention wherever she could find it. While she can still be wary of new people, she warms up quickly with those who are willing to let her come to them. Even with her anxieties, however, Fefe is a very excitable and high-energy dog, and so would do best with someone who has both the patience and experience necessary to provide her with the right home.OTHER PETS:Fefe is calm when walking next to other dogs who don't pay her much mind, but when they come into her space she quickly becomes uncomfortable and will growl to set that boundary. She doesn't have much interest in interacting with other dogs as it is, and greatly prefers when they leave her alone as well, so she would do best as the only pet in the household. [Should Be Only Pet] NO SMALL DOGS OR CATSOWNER EXPERIENCE:Fefe would do best with someone who has experience with owning strong, high-energy dogs. [Experienced]KIDS:Fefe is uncomfortable with some types of handling, and is overall an intense dog who tends to jump and pull strongly on leash. She would would thus do better with adults who are able to handle both her energy and her strength. [Adults Only (17+)]ACTIVITY LEVEL:Fefe is a lot of dog with a lot of energy. In a home environment, she would do best with both routine daily walks and various forms of mental enrichment to keep her mind and body busy. Once she's good and tired at the end of the day, she'd be happy to curl up and spend some time on the couch with her people! [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE:[Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED:Fefe is still at the beginning of her training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience and confidence while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Fefe not only learn her basic cues, but also help her to feel more comfortable and confident in herself! It will provide a good opportunity for her to bond with her new owner. [Intense]GROOMING:[Minimal]July 13, 2024, 4:53 pm

Story
Gandolph's adoption fee has been covered by Hank of Tudor House Liquors in East Longmeadown in memory of his dog Clover. Thank you Hank! Gandolph is a timid boy who is working on getting back to his ideal weight and is looking for a home that will help him feel safe and work on his confidence so he feels comfortable going on walks and exploring the world around him with his people.OTHER PETS: Gandolph is calm and relaxed with other dogs, even if they are a bit high energy around him. He would do likely do well with other dogs, but to ensure a good fit he should meet any other dogs he would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Gandolph is very timid, he will need an owner with lots of patience to help him settle into his new home as he may be a flight risk; any prior experience with dogs would be helpful in making Gandolph feel safe. [Some Experience] KIDS: Gandolph would likely do well with children that he meets in the community, but those that live with him need to understand not to try to take food away from him. He did not exhibit resource guarding during his behavior evaluation, and was gentle taking treats, but in order to set Gandolph up for success he should not live with young humans. [10+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Gandolph may prove to have more energy than he is currently exhibiting in the kennels once he is settled in and feels safe in his new home. He enjoys spending time outside and using his nose to explore the world around him, multiple daily walks would be good for Gandolph, length can be built up over time as his confidence and leash skills improve. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Gandolph gain confidence and build trust with his new owner as well as ensuring he has a mastery of basic cues and skills. Gandolph can be nervous around new things, and may need extra support and confidence-building in a new home and environment. With the support of his owner and some patience, Gandolph will be able to tackle any challenge set before him. [Moderate]July 13, 2024, 4:53 pm

Story
Marsha is a lot of dog with a lot of energy! Although she's not the biggest dog around, she's got a lot of spark in her and can be very opinionated. Because of her barking and how energetic she is, she would not be a good fit for an apartment & would do best in a house with a fenced-in yard. She's quite the jumper as well, and will not only jump up on people to greet them, but will test the limits of short fences as well.OTHER PETS: Marsha gets very excited when meeting other similar-sized dogs, often pulling forward to greet them and inviting them to play. She becomes very fixated and over-excited with animals that are smaller and would not be a good match for people with small dogs or cats. [Case-by-Case (Must Meet First)] NO SMALL DOGS OR CATSOWNER EXPERIENCE: Fefe would do best with someone who has experience with owning intense, high-energy dogs. [Experienced]KIDS:Marsha is uncomfortable with some types of handling, and is overall an intense dog who tends to jump and pull strongly on leash. She would would do better with adults who are able to handle both her energy and her strength and able to help her gain confidence. [Adults Only]ACTIVITY LEVEL:Marsha is a lot of dog with a lot of energy. In a home environment, she would do best with daily walks, and various forms of mental enrichment to keep her mind and body busy. Story
OTHER PETS: Lucius was interested in other dogs and can get excited around them. He would do well with another calm dog who is confident enough to redirect him appropriately. As with all our dogs, Lucius should meet any dog he would be living with prior to adoption. OWNER EXPERIENCE: Lucius is a very laid back dog that would likely be a `first dog` but someone with experience with older dogs and their needs would be best prepared to help Lucius as he transitions into a stately older gentleman. [First Dog / Some Experience] KIDS: Lucius is a friendly, calm dog who loves pets and would likely get along with all kinds of humans. Because Lucius has some major dental work coming up, his best fit would be with humans who were able to give him his space to heal up and adjust to his new living arrangements. [10+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lucius has short bursts of play that might make you think he was younger than he is, but he is also a fan of making sure he has a good rest after playtime. Daily walks would be a good way to get some calm, low key exercise that would allow Lucius to keep engaging in playtime for many years. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE:**Major Dental Needed**[Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Lucius bond with his new owner as well as ensuring he has a mastery of basic commands and behavorial expectations.
