Story
Meet Riley! A sweet and snuggly three-and-a-half-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier currently living in Lancaster, PA, whose heart is as big as her gorgeous black coat with its charming white chest patch. Riley is the ultimate love bug—she’ll happily spend her days curled up beside her favorite people, offering endless affection and soaking up all the cuddles! Weighing 30 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion for someone looking for a low-maintenance, affectionate pup who adores calm routines and cozy companionship. Chew toys and soft blankets are her go-to comforts, and she’s never happier than when she’s snuggled up next to you. She’s house-trained, rides well in the car, and has attended both doggy daycare and overnight boarding with ease. Riley is especially gentle with children—she's had a wonderful bond with the toddler in her current home—and she knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lie down thanks to previous obedience training. While Riley gets along well with the laid-back dog she currently lives with, she does experience anxiety when encountering unfamiliar dogs on leash. This has led to leash reactivity, and most recently, Riley bit another dog that passed by her yard. This behavior is out of character for her, but it highlights the need for a calm, dog-savvy guardian who understands reactivity and can continue helping her through positive reinforcement and structured management. She’s not a candidate for homes with cats and would do best as the only dog in a peaceful setting without a lot of canine traffic, such as a rural home or quiet neighborhood. Despite her struggles with other dogs, Riley’s devotion to people is unwavering! She’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly loyal—a true couch buddy and loving companion. Her gentle nature with people makes her a wonderful match for a family or individual who wants a close, one-on-one bond with their dog. We’re including a full month of behavioral guidance from our consultant to help Riley settle in. Her new family will have compassionate support every step of the way to feel confident, connected, and at home. Could your home be the cozy, calm retreat Riley needs to thrive? Story
Meet Brandy! A sweet and snuggly seven-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix currently living in Bridgeport, CT, who’s ready to be the star of her very own home. With her stunning fawn-colored coat and warm, soulful eyes, Brandy is a loving companion who thrives when she’s the center of attention. She weighs 60 pounds and strikes the perfect balance between medium energy and calm cuddles, making her a wonderful match for someone who’s looking for both play and affection! Brandy adores belly scratches, tug-of-war with her favorite rope toys, and lounging outside on sunny days. She’s incredibly affectionate and will often come over to rest her head on your lap just to let you know she’s there for you. While she enjoys her active moments, she’s equally content napping nearby or curling up for snuggles at the end of the day. She knows commands like “sit,” “high-five,” “come here,” and “get in your bed,” and though she can be a little stubborn, she’s eager to learn with positive reinforcement and patience. Brandy is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, so she’s all set for her new chapter! However, she’s had some challenges living with another dog and has been involved in fights, making it clear she needs to be the only dog in her new home. This doesn’t take away from her loving personality—it simply means she’s at her happiest when she doesn’t have to share her space. Brandy hasn’t been exposed to children, so a home with adults or a couple who understands her breed would suit her best. While she’s not a fan of other dogs, she does great with cats and would love a fenced yard where she can safely explore and play. Brandy is looking for a home where she can shine as the only pet, surrounded by a family who appreciates her affectionate and loyal heart. Are you ready to welcome this beautiful girl into your life? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet Brandy and discover the joy she’s waiting to bring into your world!

Story
Meet Milo! A lively three-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/German Shepherd mix currently living in Hudsonville, MI, whose sparkly brown coat with charming white accents is just the beginning of his irresistible appeal. With a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging, Milo is the perfect blend of athletic energy and soulful snuggles! Milo is a 50-pound bundle of loyalty who has completed formal training with Off-Leash Training and responds like a champ to commands like "come," "sit," "heel," "place," and "off." He thrives with structure and positivity and is crate trained, house-trained, and well-mannered both indoors and out. Whether you’re heading out for a run or settling in for a cozy cuddle on the couch, Milo is all in—and then some! Milo is friendly and playful with other dogs, and he thrives in an environment where he can socialize and stretch his legs. A home with a securely fenced yard is important for his energy and happiness. He’s the kind of dog who will follow you from room to room, happily becoming your shadow during the day and your cuddle buddy at night! However, Milo is not compatible with children. He has shown aggression toward them in the past, so he needs an adult-only home with experienced and attentive caregivers who can provide a calm and consistent environment. He’s not a fan of car rides and gets a bit unsure around stairs, but with patience and gentle encouragement, he’s learning to build confidence in these areas. His loyalty runs deep, and his love is genuine. Milo adores attention, thrives on human companionship, and is always eager for his next adventure with someone who understands his needs and celebrates his unique personality. Milo is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to bring joy, loyalty, and a whole lot of heart to the right home. Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more! Story
Meet Augusta! Augusta is a striking almost five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix currently living in Indianapolis, IN, whose intelligence and devotion make her an extraordinary companion for the right person. Weighing 65 pounds, she is strong, sturdy, and full of personality. With her beautiful tricolor coat and deep brown eyes, Augusta is a head-turner and a loyal companion ready for a fresh start. Augusta is a recent training graduate who has worked hard on her leash manners, impulse control, and focus. She walks beautifully on a leash alongside her person and has embraced crate training, happily settling into her cozy retreat when asked. She thrives on consistency and enjoys focusing on her handler, making her an excellent partner for continued positive reinforcement training. Her love for people shines in her constant desire for snuggles and companionship. She is incredibly smart and food-motivated, quickly picking up on cues when treats are involved. While she has made great strides in training, she still benefits from a structured home where her boundaries are respected. She has a history of being defensive when she feels uncertain, including one incident where she bit a neighbor on the ankle. Because of this, she would do best with an experienced pet guardian who understands how to manage her interactions and provide ongoing structure. Augusta thrives with an active lifestyle and would do well in a home where she can enjoy physical exercise and mental enrichment. She is best suited as the only pet in an adult-only home with a guardian who has experience handling high-energy dogs and is committed to maintaining her progress. With patience, training, and a consistent routine, Augusta has the potential to settle beautifully into a home where she feels safe and understood. To ensure a successful transition, we offer a free consultation with a canine behaviorist to help Augusta continue her progress in her new home. If you’re looking for a devoted companion and are ready to invest in a rewarding journey with Augusta, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more. Could you be the experienced family Augusta needs?
