Story
Meet Ollie! A bouncy three-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix currently living in Baltimore, MD, whose heart is as big as his playful spirit and whose stunning blue-and-white coat makes him a showstopper wherever he goes. Ollie is the kind of pup who turns everyday moments into joyful adventures! Whether he's chasing a ball across the yard, diving into a spirited game of tug-of-war, or burrowing under blankets for a snuggle session, Ollie lives for connection. His relationships with other dogs are mostly friendly, he enjoys playtime and socializing, but he can occasionally give a grumpy reaction, so he’d do best with a guardian who understands dog body language and knows how to set him up for success. At 50 pounds, Ollie is a medium-sized bundle of love and energy who’s great with kids (ages 1–9) and adores people of all kinds. He’s crate trained, house-trained, and knows his basics like sit, lay down, wait, and come, although he’s still working on his leash manners. He sometimes gets a little too excited when he sees other dogs on walks and needs help staying focused around distractions. With consistent positive reinforcement and an experienced pet parent to guide him, Ollie will continue to blossom! His ideal home? One with a backyard would be a dream come true! A canine sibling (especially a female) to play with could be a great match and a guardian who can dedicate time to continued training would be perfect. Ollie is healthy, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines, ready for the next chapter in a loving active home. Are you ready to welcome this cuddle-loving, ball-chasing, tail-wagging joy machine into your life? To learn more about adopting Ollie, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com! Who’s ready for a lifetime of playful romps and blanket snuggles with this sweet boy?

Story
Meet Riley! A sweet and snuggly three-and-a-half-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier currently living in Lancaster, PA, whose heart is as big as her gorgeous black coat with its charming white chest patch. Riley is the ultimate love bug—she’ll happily spend her days curled up beside her favorite people, offering endless affection and soaking up all the cuddles! Weighing 30 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion for someone looking for a low-maintenance, affectionate pup who adores calm routines and cozy companionship. Chew toys and soft blankets are her go-to comforts, and she’s never happier than when she’s snuggled up next to you. She’s house-trained, rides well in the car, and has attended both doggy daycare and overnight boarding with ease. Riley is especially gentle with children—she's had a wonderful bond with the toddler in her current home—and she knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lie down thanks to previous obedience training. While Riley gets along well with the laid-back dog she currently lives with, she does experience anxiety when encountering unfamiliar dogs on leash. This has led to leash reactivity, and most recently, Riley bit another dog that passed by her yard. This behavior is out of character for her, but it highlights the need for a calm, dog-savvy guardian who understands reactivity and can continue helping her through positive reinforcement and structured management. She’s not a candidate for homes with cats and would do best as the only dog in a peaceful setting without a lot of canine traffic, such as a rural home or quiet neighborhood. Despite her struggles with other dogs, Riley’s devotion to people is unwavering! She’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly loyal—a true couch buddy and loving companion. Her gentle nature with people makes her a wonderful match for a family or individual who wants a close, one-on-one bond with their dog. We’re including a full month of behavioral guidance from our consultant to help Riley settle in. Her new family will have compassionate support every step of the way to feel confident, connected, and at home. Could your home be the cozy, calm retreat Riley needs to thrive? Story
Meet Brandy! A sweet and snuggly seven-and-a-half-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix from Bridgeport, CT, who’s ready to be the star of her very own home. With her stunning fawn-colored coat and soulful eyes, Brandy is a loyal companion who thrives when she’s the center of your world. Weighing about 60 pounds, she strikes a lovely balance between playful energy and calm cuddles—perfect for someone looking for both affection and activity. Brandy’s favorite things include belly rubs, rope toys, and soaking up the sun outside. She’s deeply affectionate and often rests her head on your lap just to feel close. She knows several commands such as “sit,” “high-five,” “come here,” and “get in your bed,” and she continues to make great progress with consistent training and positive reinforcement. Brandy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and fully house-trained. She’s currently working with a professional trainer, and the difference is already showing. She now walks calmly on a leash using her training collar, responds well to guidance, and has even joined a friend on walks without barking or lunging. Her trainer recommends more socialization and regular outings—and Brandy is rising to the challenge with grace and continued improvement. While Brandy hasn’t done well living with other dogs in the past and prefers not to share her home with them, this simply reflects her desire for a peaceful, predictable environment where she can feel secure. She has done well around cats and would thrive in a home with adults who understand her breed and are committed to helping her continue to grow. A fenced yard would be the icing on the cake for this sun-loving girl. Brandy is ready to shine as your one and only—bringing warmth, loyalty, and companionship to the right home. Story
Meet April! A spirited seven-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix currently living in Pittsburgh, PA, whose expressive black-and-white face and cheeky grin are just the beginning of her charm. April is a 65-pound bundle of sass, smarts, and snack-loving hilarity! Named after a famously sharp-witted TV character, she lives up to her name with a personality that’s as bold as it is endearing. Her favorite pastimes include lounging under cozy blankets, snacking with enthusiasm, giving side-eye worthy of an Emmy, and obliterating “indestructible” toys like it’s her full-time job. Spoiler alert: nothing is safe from her joyful destruction—but don’t worry, she’s got excellent household manners and sticks to what’s hers! Fully housetrained, crate-trained, and calm when left alone, April is happiest in a low-key, adults-only home. She’s a fantastic nap buddy and a sweet hostess when friends come to visit—tail wags and charm are always on the menu! April knows a whole list of commands, including sit, down, wait, “find it,” paw, “around,” and “up,” and she enjoys brushing up on her skills with a little positive reinforcement and some quality bonding time. April has a history of reactivity to unfamiliar dogs, and in one past incident, after escaping from her yard, she was involved in a fight with another dog. During the effort to break it up, a neighbor was bitten in the chaos. Because of this, she was previously thought to be best as the only pet in the home. But over the past few weeks, April has surprised us all in the best way! She’s currently being fostered by a caregiver who has two mellow but energetic dogs and April has absolutely thrived with them! She’s more confident, relaxed, and social than she’s been in a long time. While she still needs slow, structured introductions to new dogs, her reactivity has improved, and meet-and-greets are going more smoothly than ever. It’s been amazing to see her blossom with canine companions, and we believe she could truly shine in a home with doggie siblings who are playful yet chill. April is still not a match for homes with cats or children, and slow intros with new pups are key. But her progress has been heartwarming, and it’s clear she has the potential to be a fabulous member of a dog-friendly household. When it comes to humans, she’s a goofy, affectionate sweetheart just waiting to be your couch companion and snack soulmate! We’re also including a month of professional behavioral support to help April settle into her next chapter with ease and reassurance. Could April be the four-legged friend you've been waiting for? Email us at adopt@joyfulpets.com—she’s ready to meet her next snack-sharing sidekick!

Kalle and Maya

American Pit Bull Terrier

Female, 12 yrs 4 mos

Story
Meet Kalle and Maya! A lovable pair currently living in Doylestown, PA. Kalle, a wise and spunky twelve-year-old white-and-black mixed breed, and Maya, a gentle brindle sweetheart who’s eight and a half years old—who are looking for a peaceful place to enjoy together. This inseparable duo brings double the snuggles and twice the heart! Kalle is the larger of the two at 70 pounds, with a big personality and an even bigger love for stuffed toys (which she proudly shreds with glee). She’s clever and curious—she knows commands like “paw,” “sit,” and even “high five!” Kalle is sweet but initially standoffish and slow to warm up to new people. She’s shown some herding behavior and nipped at heels in the past, including a bite incident with a neighbor last year. Despite this, she’s typically very good and responsive once she feels safe. With patience, her loyalty shines bright, and she becomes a loving shadow to her favorite person. Maya, tipping the scales at a cuddly 35 pounds, is passive and gentle with everyone but becomes uneasy if approached too quickly. She earns the affectionate nickname “vampire dog” thanks to her love of nighttime strolls and preference for indoor comfort. Maya is cuddly and calm, often found snoozing right next to—or directly on—her caregiver. She’s a quiet soul who can get startled by fast movements, but with a gentle approach and some treats, she melts into a devoted companion. Both girls are house-trained, microchipped, spayed, and up to date on their vaccinations. They’re crate-trained and have been through obedience lessons. Though neither loves thunderstorms, they’re otherwise calm and relaxed, especially when curled up with their person. They sleep well when left alone and truly shine in a home with a fenced yard and predictable routine. Kalle and Maya are bonded at the heart and need to stay together. They’d thrive with a guardian who understands their quirks, offers patient love, and provides a steady rhythm to their days. They’re not fans of cats and tend to be shy with other dogs, so a solo spotlight suits them best. We’re including a full month of behavioral guidance from our consultant to help Kalle and Maya settle in. Their new family will have compassionate support every step of the way to feel confident, connected, and at home. Could your loving home be the next chapter in Kalle and Maya’s story? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more—these two are ready to fill your life with warmth, loyalty, and late-night cuddles!

Story
Meet Milo! A lively three-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/German Shepherd mix currently living in Hudsonville, MI, whose sparkly brown coat with charming white accents is just the beginning of his irresistible appeal. With a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging, Milo is the perfect blend of athletic energy and soulful snuggles! Milo is a 50-pound bundle of loyalty who has completed formal training with Off-Leash Training and responds like a champ to commands like "come," "sit," "heel," "place," and "off." He thrives with structure and positivity and is crate trained, house-trained, and well-mannered both indoors and out. Whether you’re heading out for a run or settling in for a cozy cuddle on the couch, Milo is all in—and then some! Milo is friendly and playful with other dogs, and he thrives in an environment where he can socialize and stretch his legs. A home with a securely fenced yard is important for his energy and happiness. He’s the kind of dog who will follow you from room to room, happily becoming your shadow during the day and your cuddle buddy at night! However, Milo is not compatible with children. He has shown aggression toward them in the past, so he needs an adult-only home with experienced and attentive caregivers who can provide a calm and consistent environment. He’s not a fan of car rides and gets a bit unsure around stairs, but with patience and gentle encouragement, he’s learning to build confidence in these areas. His loyalty runs deep, and his love is genuine. Milo adores attention, thrives on human companionship, and is always eager for his next adventure with someone who understands his needs and celebrates his unique personality. Milo is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to bring joy, loyalty, and a whole lot of heart to the right home. Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more!
