Story
Tigger is 4 years old, he’s a corgi, chihuahua, labrador, pitbull mix and he’s the sweetest pup i’ve ever met. It breaks my heart to need to rehome him but we’ve come to learn he doesn’t get along with young kids and we have 2 children under 4 years old and we’ve had to keep him crated a lot more than we’d like to and it really isn’t fair to him. He has a super happy bubbly personality, he’d be an excellent companion to someone looking for a happy go lucky dog with lots of energy and spunk around 35 pounds. His special needs include needing some extra love and care because the transition will be hard on him, he needs a slow feeder or a maze bowl because he gets way too excited for his meals, and he needs some work as far as training goes. Only thing i ask is his new family keeps me involved as far as pics and things like that because i’ve had him since he was 7 weeks old and he’ll always have my heart, and that if things don’t work out they reach back out to me so i can help.

Story
Turbeau aka Beau we adopted from Forsyth Human Society in March of 2021. He has come out of his shell and worked on his manners of learning to live inside. He is an energetic and curious boy who loves to play fetch and then is also content to cuddle. He lives with a doggy sister and several cat siblings- gets along with them all. He is protective of food and toys which we have worked on. He enjoys walks and has done well learning to walk with a gentle leader. He is reactive to other dogs when on walks, especially littler dogs. Beau has lots of separation anxiety and general anxiety with new or unknown situations which we have found medication to work best making him more comfortable. He is crate and house trained. He thinks of his crate as his safe place. He would love to be in a home where he is the only dog or a larger female dog. He very much would love to be the center of attention. He also would need a home with no young children.

Story
Meet Scrappy - an affectionate and playful pup looking for his forever home. Scrappy is the perfect side-kick when you’re out and about and loves people once he has been properly introduced to them. He is particular about the other dogs he is around. He’s an expert at fetch and loves tennis balls, squeakers and chew toys. He’s working on his leash skills and is currently not crate trained. Scrappy is incredibly loyal and believes his job is to protect his home and family - so would do best in a stable environment without a lot of strangers. Not recommended in a home that has cats or other small animals.

Coco is a loveable pit. She is house & crate trained and obeys commands. She is extremely friendly and has a lot of energy. She enjoys kids and other animals, especially dogs. I took her in when she was left abandoned, but can no longer take care of her due to moving. If I could, I would. She’s a sweet, good girl.

Story
This is Bianca and Brad, and they are ready to bring a whole bunch of joy and happiness into your house! Bianca and Brad are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Bianca is a pit-mix, intact female (spay pending) that is around 2 years old and weighing 45-50 pounds, and Brad is a Maltese, intact male (neuter pending) that is around 2 years old and weighing 17-20 pounds. They both were found in October 2023 roaming near the Winston-Salem airport as strays and have been in our care ever since. While under our care they have been treated for fleas, ringworm and hookworm and have overcome all those issues and are currently on Heartgard preventative chews. Our intent was always to foster and help them find a new home and that's where you come in! Both dogs are very well adjusted to car rides, big time attention fiends, and they are both very good with people. They have not been around many other dogs and cats, but when they are they get very excited and want to play with them no matter what size. Bianca will try to jump on you to get pets (something we are trying to curtail) and Brad tries as well and will even try to jump on chairs or any other elevated surface to get closer to you. Bianca loves to play frisbee and fetch sticks, but only when she wants to. Brad tries to play alongside her but his size and speed don't really allow that to happen, so he'll sneak some pets in while Bianca retrieves the object thrown. On that note, Bianca gets a little jealous when Brad gets pets so she will attempt to butt her way in so as not to be left out, but it's not a vicious jealousy just one where she wants what he's getting. They both enjoy going on walks though we are working on better leash behavior. Bianca especially likes roaming and crossing paths and even steps over Brad, but he doesn't seem to mind. Brad will find a squirrel and fixate on it from half a mile away but after a little nudging he will forget it and continue onward. We walk them together because they are a bonded set and separating them (either on purpose or on accident) does seem to stress them if it's for longer than say 20 minutes. They do have a slight track record of chewing on things they are not supposed to however we are convinced this is because they are bored and need more face time with people, so adopters should be able to dedicate a lot of attentiveness to them in their new home. With their age and their temperament, they are definitely above average energy dogs but they do well inside or outside and would make a lovely addition to yours and your family's lives, and they would be very appreciative of you for giving them a second chance at a forever home! If you are interested in adopting Brad and Bianca, please complete an adoption application on our website at hsdavie.org

Story
Chocolate Roses recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what her DDO buddy had to say! "I just had the best time on a Dogs Day Out with beautiful Chocolate Roses - a 48 lb., 5 YO Pitt Bull Terrier sweetie. She was eager to jump in the car and quietly chilled out during our drive. We hiked several miles in the woods, had lunch, went to All Pets Considered for a bath, and then checked out Griffin Community Park. She needs time to release her kennel energy, but is then ready to explore with her feet and nose. I learned from out time together that she is: Friendly towards people and dogs. Maintains manageable leash tension. All in with creeks and puddles. Excited at any chance to roll in grass. Quiet, never heard her bark today. Very treat-motivated, but gentle. A tennis ball fetching machine. This is an athletic lady, so she will need a fenced yard to run and play! We ran a bit on the trail and she maintained a good line, so may be a great running buddy. This lady has been at Guilford County Animal Services for nearly two months, so is ready to be adopted from 12-4:00 any day but Tuesday." As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Bentley has a firm swelling on the right size of his face under his eye. This swelling is typically due to a tooth root abscess, but it has not resolved with typical treatment in the shelter. It is possible that he has a persistent abscess or a cyst. To diagnose and treat, he needs dental radiographs. He does not appear painful, and is eating normally. He should be evaluated by a veterinarian to take his dental radiographs and treat as appropriate. If you are interested in meeting Bentley please contact Kendelle Federico at 336-266-4138 via text message or email kfederico@guilfordcountync.gov.

Story
Quote from a 5 year old critic - "Toodie is the best dog EVER!" Toodie recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what her DDO buddy had to say! "Sweet Toodie and I had the nicest day relaxing and getting in some much needed rest after her spay. She took a few minutes to warm up to me but once she realized she could trust me, she was all for the snuggles and pets. She didn't have any accidents all day, was quiet, rode wonderfully in the car, and walked so nicely on the leash." 2nd DDO: "Meet Toodie! She's a 4 and a half year old girl Mike and I had the pleasure of taking out last weekend. We picked her up for her Dogs Day Out, she jumped in the car and laid down ready to go wherever. First thing we did was take her to get her picture with the Easter Bunny at the Natural Dog in High Point. She non stop snorts in the most adorable way when she's pleased! Then a walk at the Arboretum, Ozzie's for ice cream (which she wasn't sure about at first then wagged her tail continuously with every lick to the delight of everyone watching) Then to Hops Spring Garden for lunch. Toodie is a snorting joyous girl. I don't know if I've ever met a dog who LOVES people the way she does. She greeted everyone, and I mean everyone, we encountered calmly and kindly. She especially loves kids, just staring at them and wagging her tail waiting for them to come say hello. She was a big hit everywhere she went. One person we encountered said you can 100% tell this girl is ready for a family life. She will make a fantastic addition to anyone's family." 3rd DDO: "Toodie is a special, sweet girl that my son and I had the privilege to take on a DDO today 4 years old Spayed HW negative Food/treat motivated We started our day at Gibson Park where we walked the trails. I immediately learned that Toodie LOVES to sniff, she had nose to ground almost the entire time and makes the cutest snorting sound After leaving the park we headed to Sweetwater Court Private Dog Playground and Gardens which is always my favorite part. She sniffed around some more, ran around with my son and I, and also just enjoyed relaxing a bit. Next, we cooled off in my apartment for a bit before heading downtown. Toodie is so sweet with people and wants to go up to everyone for a pet. She got lots of attention downtown. She really enjoyed getting a pup cup from Awoo coffee shop and lots of pets here. Lastly, we walked back to my apartment and Toodie just snoozed beside me on the couch the whole time. She made me pick her up and put her on the couch she must've been tired after our day full of fun. Things to know: She is house trained. VERY sweet and loving. Just a precious angel. I would say medium energy. She enjoys running around and walking, but also content to sit with you or lay beside you on the couch after burning some energy. She does pull hard on the leash, but gets better the more energy she burns. She is a strong girly! Especially when following a scent. Apparently, she was previously a loose leash walker, but her stress has had an impact on this. I think she'll improve in time once in a permanent home. Rides great in the car. She lays down almost the whole time and also likes to catch a breeze looking out the window. She took treats very gently, even from my 5 year olds tiny hand. Good with small children. She was very gentle and sweet with my son. She never knocked him down, never jumped on him, he even fell on the ground near her and she just waited for him to get up." To meet Toodie, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
