Story
Meet Onix — A Sweet, Cuddly Companion Looking for a New Home Onix is a 6-year-old pitbull with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. He is extremely sweet, affectionate, and loves cuddles. He enjoys lounging around the house, being close to his family, and soaking up all the attention you’re willing to give. He is crate trained and does well with a routine. When the weather is nice, he enjoys spending time outside—exploring the yard, relaxing in the sun, and enjoying the fresh air. Due to personal circumstances, we need to find him a new home within the next 2 weeks. We hope to place him with a loving family, preferably with older kids or adults, who can give him the care and stability he deserves. If you’re interested in meeting Onix or would like more details, please message me. He truly is a sweetheart who will make a wonderful companion.

Story
Monday is a 4-year-old, 43-pound bundle of sweetness wrapped up in a petite frame. She’s affectionate, playful, and full of personality—an all-around joy to spend time with! She’s great in and out of her kennel and settles beautifully once she has a chance to burn off some of her playful energy. When she first comes out, she can be a bit mouthy from excitement, but that fades quickly—once she’s out on a walk or away from the shelter, she’s calm, gentle, and focused. Monday rides wonderfully in the car, laying down quietly for the trip. She knows “sit,” walks nicely on leash, and doesn’t react to other dogs—whether passing them on walks or in the pet store, she keeps her cool. She doesn’t always enjoy loud noises, but with reassurance, she relaxes and carries on like a pro. She handles bath time like a champ. Though hesitant at first and needing a little boost into the tub, she does wonderfully and soaks up the praise afterward. Monday loves treats (and takes them gently!), enjoys fetch and tug of war, and always loves to cuddle up for affection. She can have brief timid moments, but with gentle encouragement, she quickly finds her confidence again. Once she’s comfortable, her affectionate, easygoing nature shines through. Monday truly is an angel—playful, loving, and just the right mix of silly and sweet. She’s ready to bring joy, love, and a little bit of goofy fun to her forever home. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Meet Jetson — a happy, playful young dog who’s ready to blast off into his forever home! At 1 year and 8 months old and 52 pounds, Jetson is full of life and joy. He’s energetic, affectionate, and always up for an adventure. Jetson starts his day with enthusiasm and can be a little wiggly when getting leashed up, but once he’s out, he settles into a nice walking rhythm with only mild to moderate pulling. He’s a quick learner who goes potty outside right away and quickly figures out how to hop into the car after one assisted try. He rides well and enjoys being close to his person, so it’s best to keep him safely restrained. This friendly boy is affectionate to his core — he loves giving kisses, leaning in for pets, and jumping up for attention. He’s toy obsessed and loves to fetch, sometimes getting a bit mouthy with toys in his excitement but easily redirecting to a “sit.” Jetson takes treats gently and is both treat and toy motivated, which makes him a great candidate for continued training. With his energy level, Jetson thrives in an active home that can provide daily exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. He does best with adults or older kids who can handle his youthful enthusiasm. He does well for baths and enjoys meeting new people, greeting everyone with a loose, wiggly body and broad tail wags. While he may bark at other dogs in excitement, he shows no aggression and would benefit from a formal dog meet to gauge compatibility. Jetson is the perfect mix of fun, affection, and spirit — a lovable, energetic companion who’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and adventure to his new home. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. Story
Meet Bobo! This 5-year-old, 48-lb darling is the full package—gentle, easygoing, affectionate, and wonderfully well-mannered. She’s the kind of dog who slips effortlessly into your home and your heart. Bobo is fully potty trained, easy on leash, and an absolute star in public. She’s calm, polite, and loves meeting people. She does beautifully with kids and gets along well with other dogs, making her a great fit for many families. In the car, she rides nicely once inside and just needs a little boost to hop up. At home, she’s a low-energy companion who’s happiest simply being near her people. She loves affection and gives it right back, often nudging in gently for more pets. She’s very treat motivated and incredibly smart—she already knows sit, paw/shake, and down. She redirects easily, making her an all-around joy to spend time with. Bobo does have a torn CCL, so she’ll need an adopter who can support her through surgery and recovery. She handles her current limitations with incredible grace, and with the right care, she has every chance of returning to comfortable, happy living. If you’re looking for a calm, loving, well-behaved companion who wants nothing more than to be your steady sidekick, Bobo is ready to bring warmth, sweetness, and quiet joy into your world. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. Story
Meet Hot Chocolate! At just 2 years old and a solid 70 lbs, Hot Chocolate is a giant mug of sweetness wrapped in fur. This handsome boy bounces out of his kennel with a burst of energy, but hand him a ball or Frisbee and he settles right down once he gets the zoomies out. On leash, he’s a total gentleman, and off leash he’s a big old teddy bear who will happily melt right into your lap. Truly, this boy believes personal space is a myth. If he’s not touching you, he at least needs to see you. He just loves his people that much. Hot Chocolate is toy- and treat-motivated, great with kids, and full of affection—though families with very small children may want to keep an eye out only because he doesn’t quite understand how big he is when he gets excited. He doesn’t seem to have a prey drive on walks, and he’s shown positive, friendly body language around other dogs. He’s also an opportunistic snacker, so don’t leave your dinner unattended—if he can reach it, he’ll gladly help himself. If you’re looking for a lovable, goofy, oversized cuddle bug who wants to be your shadow and your best friend, Hot Chocolate is your guy. He’s a big lovebug with an even bigger heart, and he’s ready to sweeten someone’s life forever. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. Story
Meet Cranberry! This 1 year, 7-month-old, 37-lb cutie is a petite, wiggly burst of joy with all the charming puppy energy you could hope for. She’s an enthusiastic girl who starts her days like a little whirlwind—full-body wiggles, happy hops, and a zest for life that’s impossible not to smile at. Once she gets her initial zoomies out, Cranberry becomes a much more manageable walker. She may pull with medium strength at first, especially in exciting environments, but with a bit of exercise and structure she settles into mild pulling and can even offer loose-leash moments. With continued guidance, she’ll only get better. Cranberry is incredibly friendly and loves meeting people. She may jump up in her excitement, so she’s best matched with families who can help her practice polite greetings and be mindful around small kiddos. She’s treat motivated, takes treats fairly gently from an open palm, and is eager to learn—she just needs someone patient enough to channel her enthusiasm. She’s also a great little traveler. Cranberry hops into the car with confidence and can relax once she’s settled, though she may wiggle or shift around occasionally, so being safely secured is important. When her energy dips, she melts into the sweetest cuddle bug. She loves pets, leans in for affection, and absolutely adores belly rubs. With her bright spirit, expressive wiggles, and lovable personality, Cranberry is ready to find a home that appreciates both her playful side and her snuggly side. She’s energetic, motivated, loving, and oh-so-charming—Cranberry is truly a delight and will make such a fun companion for a family ready for a spunky little sweetheart! Cranberry came in with another dog and would likely enjoy a playful canine companion. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. Story
Meet Bruno! This under-2-year-old, 48-lb mixed breed boy is the definition of calm, soulful charm. He may come out of his kennel with a little excitement and some leash tugging, but once he’s outside, that melts away and he settles into an easy, enjoyable walking pace. Bruno loves taking in the world around him—sniffing, observing, and soaking up every sight and sound with curiosity and delight. He’s a pro at car rides, hopping right in and settling quietly for the journey. Out and about, he shows wonderful manners and a friendly, gentle disposition. Bruno greets people with his signature “dog smile” and loves every bit of affection he’s offered. He handles new environments with ease, including busy public spaces, and stays calm and well-mannered wherever he goes. Bruno is full of adorable facial expressions and already knows “sit.” He’s treat motivated, takes snacks gently, and remains quiet—no barking, growling, or whining. He can occasionally be mouthy or grab at the leash when he’s excited, but he redirects easily, and we believe these behaviors will continue to improve in a home with routine and structure. He would likely enjoy a fenced yard where he can run his heart out before settling in for leisurely walks and cozy downtime. With his gentle nature, steady temperament, and affectionate personality, Bruno is ready to become a loyal companion to a very lucky adopter. Bruno used to greet dogs with a loose, wiggly body when he first came to the shelter, but his shelter stress seems to be making him more dog selective. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.
