Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 2 years old.. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. A few notes from Jax's amazing foster family! "Our newest foster Jax is available for adoption from Guilford County Animal Shelter! A big detail to consider that doesn't define him, but certainly makes him unique is he is completely blind and partly hard of hearing. But don't let that write you off! While he needs guidance navigating his walks outdoors, he has quickly learned the lay out of our home and gently finds his way around and loooves to stroll the fenced in back yard where he knows he is safe. We have lovingly nicknamed him Roomba! Car rides do make him nervous. However, slow gentle back roads with the window rolled down will make him crack a smile and hang that big block head out the window. He's estimated to be 10 years old, though I would question being more 12, is a stocky medium build, approximately 60-70 lbs, house trained, sleeps a solid 9 hrs, and doesn't make a peep! He loves cuddles and interaction, and loves dogs! I believe he would do great with other dogs in the home that also have more of a laid back quiet lifestyle that can give him guidance and companionship. Being blind, hyper barking dogs that would roughhouse may stress him out as he spends his down time gnawing on a bone and laying on his bed catching a snooze." As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.

We rescued this beautiful girl off the street a few weeks ago, she is almost the perfect dog. Huge cuddler and super loving, but she has dog aggression. She has attacked our other dog and we just cannot keep her and keep her and our other dog safe. She was very thin when we got her. She is gaining weight and has had a full exam. she is almost dog with her rounds of medicine to clear up an infection she had and has had all her shots. She really is a great dog and I want her to go to a loving home.

This sweet boy is approximately one year old and has shown no signs of aggression. He can be timid at first, likely due to past neglect or abuse, but he remains incredibly gentle and trusting. He allows handling without issue, including being picked up, having his paws touched, and enjoying belly rubs. Once he feels safe, he warms up quickly and seeks quiet affection, often resting his head in your lap and enjoying being pet. He learns quickly and responds well to positive reinforcement; he mastered " sit " in a short time (and was very proud of himself!). He bonded easily with another dog and would likely thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion. An adopter who can spend time building his confidence and offering patience and consistency would be ideal. This dog has a calm, loving nature and will make a wonderful companion for someone willing to give him the stability and care he deserves.

Chewy is 6 years old and needs to find a home where he can be the center of attention. We took him in for a friend because she couldn't take him to her new home. He is good around most other dogs but can be aggressive. Was raised around little kids so I dont ever forsee that being an issue. He is kennel trained but has lots of separation anxiety. Also house broken, leash trained and very loving. Official breeds are unknown as he is a mix breed but know for sure he has pit in him.
