Story
Meet Casper! Casper is a 1 year old mixed breed who arrived at the shelter in late May. Casper is a happy-go-lucky boy, with a wagging tail Casper greets everyone he meets with boundless affection. He's the type of dog who will melt your heart by rolling onto his back, eagerly inviting belly rubs and scratches. While Casper walks okay on leash, he sometimes forgets his manners in the excitement of meeting new friends and may need a gentle reminder not to jump up for attention - he's just so excited to see you! His exuberance is matched only by his quick wit; Casper is incredibly treat motivated and learns new tricks and commands with ease. Although Casper hasn't shown much interest in toys, he absolutely loves to run around in the play yard to show off his zoomies! His energetic nature makes him a great companion for active adventures and outdoor activities. If you are interested in taking Casper on a dog's day out or becoming Casper's foster, please reach out to our foster coordinator, Kendelle Federico, at kfederico@guilfordcountync.gov for more information! If you are interested in adopting Casper, please text Kendelle Federico using the information above as he is in short term foster!

Story
Meet Lexi, your energetic and fun-loving canine companion! This spirited girl is ready to be your ultimate running buddy and loyal companion. Lexi is a bundle of energy who thrives on fun and adventure. She would love nothing more than to join you on your outdoor excursions, whether it's a jog in the park or a hike in the mountains. Occasionally, her enthusiasm might show with a jump to say hi, but she's easily redirected and eager to please. Treats are Lexi's weakness, and she'll do anything for a tasty reward. She's already mastered commands like sit and down, showcasing her intelligence and willingness to learn. With her smarts and eagerness, she's a prime candidate for further training and enrichment activities. Playing with toys brings Lexi immense joy. She's happiest when engaged in playtime, whether it's chasing a ball, tugging on a rope, or solving a puzzle toy. Her playful nature adds a delightful spark to every interaction. Despite her high energy levels, Lexi has a softer side too. She's incredibly snuggly and loves to give affectionate kisses. Curling up with her human for some cuddle time is one of her favorite pastimes. On walks, Lexi may pull on the leash occasionally, but her intelligence and responsiveness make her highly trainable. With consistent guidance and positive reinforcement, she'll quickly improve her leash manners and become a more polished walking companion. Lexi's blend of playfulness, intelligence, and affection makes her a wonderful match for active individuals or families who can provide her with plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and love. If you're seeking a devoted running buddy and cuddle companion, Lexi is eagerly waiting to meet you! Lexi has had positive interactions with other dogs and has a wrestle play style. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. Lexi is currently being fostered by Hounds Town Greensboro-Guilford Doggie Daycare and is available for adoption. She can be adopted directly from the facility after an approved application from GCAS has been submitted to us and you've met Lexi in person. If you'd like to meet Lexi, please contact their facility to set up a time! Story
Fiddle recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! 1st DDO: "I was lucky to spend a relaxing few hours with Fiddle today, a mellow and fun-loving boy! He jumps right in the car and is content quietly looking out at the world. We hiked several miles in Gibson Park, had a picnic, then mingled with people at PetSmart. He shared with me that he is: - Friendly towards people - Only mildly interested in wild animals. - A joy to walk (see videos). - Happy to bury some bones. - Not keen on getting his feet wet. - Treat-motivated and gentle with them. - Quick on the "sit" command. - Quiet and never barked. Fiddle is just a handsome, gentle, and fun boy ready to bring joy into someone's home. He's waiting for you at Guilford County Animal Services and can be adopted 12-4:00 pm any day but Tuesday." 2nd DDO: "FIDDLE was such a fun companion for my most recent Dogs Day Out! We started out the morning at the Sweetwater Court Sniffspot, where he spent the whole hour playing with toys, rolling in the grass, and laying in the shade. After that, we spent some time at my parents' house in the kitchen and backyard where he really enjoyed laying on the cold floor since it was a hot day. He was so playful and fun to be with! Before we went back to the shelter, we took a short walk on a shady trail and enjoyed our last hour together. - Fiddle is a 5 yr old Boxer mix neutered male. He is 52 lbs and HW Negative - Loved playing with toys, very playful - Took treats gently - Amazing car rider, barked once when he saw a dog in the parking lot of the trail but other than that not a sound - Very sweet natured and gentle, jumped up a little with excitement but was easily redirected and didn't show any signs of mouthiness - Respectful of the small area we explored in the house which was the kitchen, didn't jump on counters or chew anything - Great walker, no pulling at all" As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Dean recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "We took Dean on a Dog's Day Out and had the best time today! Dean is cute as a button and has a sweet personality too. Dean visited Petsmart, Ross, and Lowe's with us and was quite well-behaved. Next he enjoyed playtime at Sweetwater Court Private Dog Playground and Gardens! Afterward we had lunch at Freddy's and Dean had a tasty pup cup. We visited my dad and stepmom downtown and Dean had a little stroll through the park. Dean also visited our house briefly before it was time to go back to the shelter. Details about Dean: About 1 year old-he is young but past puppy wildness 43 lbs-easy medium size HW negative - Great walker-doesn't really pull at all - Smart-knows sit and down and I believe he has done shake/paw for others - Treat motivated-this will help with future training - Affectionate-loves to be by your side or in your lap - He played a little with a squeaky toy today but overall prefers just hanging out with people - He would be happy snuggling on a couch with you! He didn't have a high energy level today but that could be partially due to the heat. - Good car rider-jumps in easily and lies down for you to hook/unhook from his seatbelts. Sometimes tries to come into the front seat because he wants to be closer to you. - Slightly shy in new situations/around new people but it doesn't take long for him to warm up to you - He was only in our house for a little bit but had no accidents there or in the stores we visited. I think he would be potty trained quickly as he potties promptly upon going outside. - He has the cutest little Boxer face and his fur seems more like Retriever fur" As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
