Story
Nala is officially up for adoption! 💕🐾👏🏼 Nala is a sweet, affectionate pittie mix who has overcome many challenges in her young life. This girl is an under 2-year-old pup that came to us in September after being rescued from a homeless encampment where she was not treated well. Despite the abuse and neglect she endured, Nala has a heart of gold and so much love to give to all people she surrounds. Nala, a resilient and loving dog, has faced challenges that no canine should ever have to endure. Through no fault of her own, she found herself in another home where she received little attention, leading her to seek out her own entertainment by darting out the front door. This behavior, while understandable given the circumstances, is not something that should be expected of a dog. These behaviors and lack of proper decompression, training and instruction has left her with dog reactivity. She has worked with a trainer and her foster family continues her training.

Story
Meet Nala, the best, most loyal dog anyone could ask for. She was a street puppy my brother gave me 4 years ago and has been my best friend since then. It has been a hard decision to look for her new best friend, but one we feel is best for her. We have a baby due in October and won’t have time for our long walks or trips to the pool for a swim. we also have to spend out winters out of state to help look over my in laws who aren’t in great health. Nala is very obedient and has completed obedience training. She is a loose leash walker, stays in a heel while walking, will place anywhere you ask her to and stay there until she hears her release word “break”. She is a big cuddler and will try and sneak in bed with you in the middle of the night. She is very healthy and has never had any health issues. She isn’t great with dogs she doesn’t know, but is muzzle trained just in case she is ever in a place where dogs would be around. She loves cats, and older children, unsure about younger.

Story
What a face! Humphrey is a big doofus. When he arrived he weighed 14 lbs. He was living in a crate and being starved to death. But with the right vet care and foster he is now 40 lbs and loving life. He still wants to eat too fast so he uses a special bowl to slow him down. Humphrey is still learning he can go outside to potty and he doesn't have to do his business in his crate. At some point his ears were cut off, probably with scissors, but that doesn't seem to bother him. And it just gives him a special look, along with his squatty muscular body. He needs a strong person to help him keep learning life can be good. He can be reactive with some dogs. No idea about cats but probably should not live with them. He does think he should be a lap dog and loves belly rubs. I am in a foster home so if you are interested in adoptiong me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.  September 14, 2024, 7:53 am

Story
Meet Connor! Connor is the definition of happy go lucky, even if he is a bit distractible at times, but that just means he keeps things interesting! A game of fetch can quickly turn into trying to figure out what a nearby bird is saying to him (he hasn’t shared their secretes so far!) Connor would do best with an active household, and preferably a fenced in yard so that can show you just how goofy he looks when he runs! Connor is 6 months old and weighs roughly 45lbs. He is a pit/bassett hound mix. He has had 3 rounds of DAPP and 1 round of bordetella, and has been dewormed 3 times as well as had heartworm and flea preventatives, and is microchipped. He will be adopted out on a strict alteration contract. He is working towards being housebroken, and has a vague grasp on the sit command, and an eager personality. He’s been around infants and toddlers without incident but of course will need training and supervision. Meet and greets will take place in Clark County, OH. His adoption fee is $300 - a small price to pay for a lifetime of love and antics! Ready to welcome Connor into your home? Story
Nicki came to us in 2020 when her owner passed away. In these three years of searching for a home, Nicki has developed dog reactivity with other dogs and has since been diagnosed with epilepsy. Not only did Nicki have to deal with the loss of her beloved owner, she has struggled to adapt in the shelter environment over the years. In 2022, Nicki met her foster parents. Nicki's fosters provided her with the one thing Nicki has ever desired- a home. We are so grateful her fosters opened up their home to Nicki for an entire year and gave her such a long, deserving break from the shelter. We understood that Nicki's foster parents were only fosters. This being said, Nicki is begging for a forever home so she no longer has to worry about where she will be heading next. With the wonderful care of her fosters, she has incredible house manors and loves family get togethers. She does great with kids and overall wants the company of humans. Nicki cannot be homed with other dogs or cats and while we understand this can limit awesome adopters, we also know that we've had the pleasure of meeting her amazing foster parents and we know there is someone out there waiting to give Nicki the life she has been waiting for. If you cannot adopt Nicki, please share her story. Three years is too long for a dog to spend in a shelter. Let's do right by Nicki and find her forever person.
