KingMaleAge: 1.5 yearsWeight: 55 lbsBreed: Pit Mix Hi! I’m King! I am a goofy and loving guy who gets along great with other dogs and cats. So, far I know I do really well around kids at least 10 years and older. I am house trained and crate trained and can be left for the duration of your normal workday. My favorite treats are anything edible and my favorite toy is my Kong. I really, really enjoy cuddling and lounging around, going to the park and taking walks. I know lots of commands too, like: “sit”, “bed”, “paw”, “down” and “get your toy”. I love learning new commands.I cannot wait to find my very own family who will give me new words to learn and all the love and attention and cuddles that I deserve. If you are interested in meeting King to adopt him at: www.causeforcanines.org. Adoption fee: $350. Must be an Ohio resident and 23 or older. Children must be 10 years old or older.  ##2003201##

Story
Keeley is a very sweet, loving girl. She is house trained and walks well on a leash. She does fantastic with our other laid back female pittie. Unfortunately, she is not getting along with the cats in our household, so we have made the difficult decision to re-home her. She does have some cage anxiety, and does not do well in a kennel, but has done well confined to a bedroom when we are not home.

Story
Love isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. And Relay has the heart and soul to go the distance by your side! Relay is a fun and happy go lucky guy who takes life in stride. He just doesn't want to hear any jokes about three-legged relay races - he already knows them all! This fun loving tri-pod loves to play with his dog friends here at the shelter and would likely do well in a home with another dog. Relay has a rough and rowdy play style. Meet and greets are recommended for any potential canine siblings to make sure they and Relay would be a good match. If you are looking for a confident adventure buddy, Relay is your boy! He is always up for a game of fetch or tug or to head out on a walk or hike. Relay is an active dog that would do best in an active home to help keep his mind and body busy. Looking for a brewery or restaurant buddy? Relay has been a favorite to take on doggie day outs from the shelter where he loves to hang out on patios and enjoy some good company! When he’s not working on his fitness, Relay loves to snuggle up with his favorite humans and his “emotional support ball”. He’s sweet and snuggly and his heart is as big as his blocky head! So don’t walk – RUN - to meet this sweet handsome and athletic boy today! He’d love to pass the baton to a family of his own to love! If you’re interested in meeting Relay, race now to his adoption application and fill that out to schedule a meet and greet. Please note that meet and greets are by appointment only. Relay is 3 years old and weighs 61 lbs. All of our animals come fully vetted so he is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines and preventatives.

Story
Meet Lana! Gender: Female Age: 12 years Current Weight: 75lbs Expected Adult Size: Large (50-100 lbs) Breed: Pit Bull Energy Level: Low Dog Friendly: Dog selective.  A more submissive dog would be best. Cat Friendly: No Kid Friendly: No Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence required, any height Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home/Adopter: Miss Lana is the the sweetest old lady who loves to be right in your lap at all times. She doesn't like to be crated, but does tolerate it for short periods of time. Her ideal house is a quiet, lazy house that will let her catch all the suns, give her all the treats and a comfy couch sleep on while she lives out her golden years. Likes: She loves to sunbathe, play dress up in her sweaters (because she is always cold), snuggling on the couch, and getting all the snacks. She loves to give kisses and likes her paw held when she's nervous. Short walks are best for Miss Lana since she's had a few knee surgeries in the past. She loves to paint, do puzzles and other enrichments with her friends at Camp Bow Wow! Dislikes: She has anxiety with new things and takes a while to acclimate. She doesn't like to be alone, she isn't a fan of men, and doesn't see very well, which can cause her to be jumpy sometimes.  Additional Considerations: She is potty trained but has had a long history of UTI infections that have left her a little leaky at night, so she wears diapers in case she has an accident while sleeping. She is muzzled on walks not because of the risk of her biting, but because she believes she has a stomach made of steel and can process sticks, grass, or other neighborhood "treasures". She is a fighter and we were able to have her mass cell tumors removed when she joined our rescue. What makes this dog special: Lana has quite a story! This is the goofiest old lady you will ever meet! She has some special needs, but that just makes the love she gives so special! She will melt your heart every time she looks at you. She loves to be tucked in to her blankets and a goodnight kiss on her head before bed. She has daily meds that she takes gently from your hand for her old lady anxiety and pain. She is an amazing girl who has so much love left to share with this world! Lana's adoption fee is $195 (or $65 if you are 65+). All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Lana, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1149955##

Story
Meet Phoebe! If you're into snuggly pitties with giant heads, it doesn’t get much better than this. Phoebe has the largest head-to-body ratio we've ever seen. It's a real melon. She uses that velvet bowling ball to snuggle up close and give you kisses just for hanging out. In her perfect world, she spends 50% of her day cuddling and 50% sprawled out in the sun. She absolutely loves sunbathing on the rocks, in the grass, on a raised bed... anywhere, really. Phoebe is very mellow 3 year old pup. While she enjoys a walk or running around the back yard for a bit, she's not a dog that will require a lot of exercise. She has some mild hip dysplasia that she takes medication for, so if you're looking for a young but lazy dog, she's perfect! Her foster family alternates between short walks and back yard play to make sure she’s getting enough exercise without overdoing it. For this reason, and due to her dog reactivity, Phoebe requires a home with a privacy fence so she can lounge around in peace (miraculously, her stout body can succesfully jump a chain link fence). Phoebe has made it clear that she doesn’t want to share the spotlight with other dogs, so she will need an owner that is comfortable owning and managing a dog that is reactive to other dogs. She really wants to play with the pups on the other side of the privacy fence, and we think she's probably capable of having a few trusted pups that she could have playdates with, but she acts like a real nutjob when she initally sees dogs (on walks, at the vet, on car rides, etc.). And because she would chase a squirrel to Mexico, we have a feeling cats would be a bad idea, though we haven’t tested it. Phoebe is wonderful with new humans, including guests in the home, but she is clumsy and sturdy and a bit too rough for a home with kids. And really, she just wants to be your baby. Phoebe is a bit smaller than she looks in photos, but still weighs about 65lbs. She does well for baths, is potty trained, and she's wonderful in the crate. She will sleep in her crate through the night or while you’re away with no issues, but won't turn down the opportunity to sleep in your bed either. She does the cutest little grumble/howl when you come home or when she's ready to play. She's a smart, sensitive girl who feeds off of your energy and generally knows when it's time to play vs. time to settle down.  Phoebe has a very sweet disposition and becomes everyone's best pal. To meet her is to love her. While she may seem a little difficult on paper, she will be the most amazing addition to a laid back household that just wants a snuggle buddy. Approved applicants can email us directly to arrange a meet & greet, or you can apply to adopt at RESCUEDohio.org. ##1189045##

Dog's Name: Sadie Gender: Female Current Age: 2 years, Adult (1 year or older) Current Weight: 65 Expected Adult Size: Large (50-100 lbs) Breed: Pitbull Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendliness: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog. Cat Friendliness: Yes Kid Friendliness: Yes, any age Apartments: No Physical Fence: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exercise Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home / Adopter: Sadie will be happiest with a family who likes the occasional walk and doesn’t mind an 8pm zoomie session! Sadie will need someone who is strong to walk her while she gets better at leaving squirrels and chipmunks alone (she continues to make progress all the time!) Likes: Loves playing with her sister Star, throwing stuffy toys around for herself (then chasing them), tennis balls, making sure to chase any squirrels out of the yard, and giving lots of kisses! Dislikes: Can be weary of some men but quickly warms up (especially with some peanut butter/treat encouragement!) What makes this dog special: We describe Sadie as a “slow burn”—she takes a little bit to get comfortable, but once she is it’s so worth it! She loves giving face kisses and snuggling. She makes funny “snuffling” noises while cuddling which has resulted in us nicknaming her Piggy. She’s so great with her 2 year old human roommate! She gives him his space, even while he’s walking around with a snack. She’s food motivated which has made training a breeze! She’s already learned “wait” at doors and gates. Sadie is a 2 year old mix who recently lost her family.  She came in with her best friend, Star, and we'd like to keep them together.   Sadie and Star's adoption fee is $500. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Sadie, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##2050392##

Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but occasionally mistakes one for a toy when she is over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. She is not too fond of puppies getting in her face either. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She could perhaps use more obedience training with someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved family member, and she needs a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Columbus, Cincinnati, or Akron Ohio. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
BasilMaleAge: 10 yearsWeight: 49lbsBreed: English Bulldog/Beagle Mix Hey there, I’m Basil. I am a happy and loving guy who gets along with kids and I really don’t have much interest in cats, so a home with cats would be just fine. I am a little selective with the other dogs I meet. I prefer friendly dogs.  While I am inside, I do wear a belly band. I am house trained and don’t need to be crated when you leave for your normal workday. I am also crate trained and I do well on a leash too (I do pull some with excitement, but my harness helps Immensely). I love to wander around outside and play with friendly dogs, travel with my human, take naps with my human or just nap by myself on a comfy bed or sofa. My foster mom says I am soulful and happy and loving and I just want to be your best friend. I would love to be with you as much as possible. I also love a good bone, all the treats and a stuffed Kong. If you do have another pet in the house, I would need to be fed separately. This includes snacks too. I like to guard my meals. Because of my age I have some worn down teeth and I did have a growth removed, but thank goodness it wasn’t cancerous. At my last vet appointment the doctor might have detected a murmur so, everyone is keeping an eye on that.  But, it doesn’t slow me down at all! I would love to find my forever family who will provide me all the love I deserve! If you are interested in meeting Basil apply at www.causeforcanines.org Adoption fee: $195 Must be an Ohio resident & 23 or older. Children must be 5 years or older.   ##1633287##
