Story
Penny came to us from Franklin County rescue at 3 years of age. She’s an energetic and happy but also loves to relax when she’s at home and comfortable. She absolutely loves being outside and taking road trips. She does get agitated when meeting new dogs, especially those that are reactive but warms up relatively quickly. She lived with another dog for a year and they got along great. That said I would not recommend her for homes with cats or other small critters.

Story
Tippy Trace is a 4.5 (almost 5) year old pit bull who was rescued from our organization over four years ago after an incident led her to lose her front left leg. Since then, she has been in a loving home with two children (ages 10 and 1.5) and another older female dog. She has had aggression issues towards the older female dog worsening over the last two years, leading to them needing to re-home her now. She does very well with children and is a lover of people. She loves to cuddle and play. She can run super fast and doesn’t even realize that she is a tripod! She loves to pop bubbles and play fetch! Tippy is in need of a dog-less home or possibly one with an older male dog. She would be a great companion for a single person or a family!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Are you seeking the goodest boy? Look no further, as his name is Saint and he is up for adoption. Rescue workers brought Saint in after finding him sleeping as a stray on a bench outside a remote house. They contacted his former owner and learned that he had abandoned Saint. His foster family lives near where rescuers found him. The foster family would love to adopt him, unfortunately their other male does not like him. Saint loves laying on the couch next to his person while watching tv. He lets out his extra energy by playing with toys or zooming around the yard. He can play with other dogs, or he can entertain himself. Although friendly to all people and children, he forms attachments to individuals. He knows sit, stay, up, down, lay down, no, come, leave it, crate and much more. Once you have him do something once or twice, it becomes second nature to him. He will chase a cat, but if you “say leave” it or “no” before the chase happens, he will leave them alone. This dog has everything to offer the perfect family. He is an easy trainable dog. His only downside is not having any people to ensure the best for this goodest boy. The current foster loves to talk about him, so feel free to ask questions. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Story
Nala is a sweet dog that was rescued from an abusive homeless camp situation. She is approximately two years old spayed, female, up-to-date on shots, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. Her past situation has given her some reactivity to other dogs so a solo dog home or very experienced handler is her ideal situation. She has been actively working with a trainer and is making tremendous progress. Her confidence is growing stronger and her reactivity is lessening. She loves all people and kids. She can play a little rough so younger kids would need to be cautious. She loves snuggles, boat rides, car rides, and generally being around her people. Please consider meeting Nala. Fostered in Columbus, OH through New Albany Pet Rescue but will travel for the right placement.

Likes: Pen loves people, dogs, toys, the couch or a comfy bed, good belly rubs and being outside. Dislikes: Chickens (but not eating chicken) Penelope loves life and absolutely knows that she has been rescued. She was deprived of human companionship, as well as canine, when she spent a year inside a lonely rural shelter. She was starting to lose hope. But now, she radiates happiness every time you pet her, or she rolls in the grass, or she lays in a soft bed, or a dog plays with her, or if there is a nice breeze outside, because she missed that so much during the year she was ignored in the shelter. She adores humans and wants nothing more than to be with her people. She is very chill in the house, and basically sleeps if no one is in the mood to play with her. If she can sleep next to you, all the better. If you want a dog who will adore you, and be grateful for any kindness, then Penelope is your girl. Pen's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##2338937##

Story
Roxie is a 7 year-old Boxer/Doberman mix who weighs 67 lbs. She was surrendered to CHA when her owner could no longer care for her. Her previous owner reported that she lived with cats, children, and other dogs. Since being at CHA, she has done well meeting other dogs, but prefers to coexist rather than play. Though she is an older girl who enjoys those leisurely moments, she still has a lot of pep in her step! She loves to play with her stuffed toys, play bowing and throwing them around the room. Roxie also likes exploring and is a great walking buddy with wonderful leash manners. If you`re looking for a playful, affectionate, intelligent dog, come meet Roxie today!

Story
Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited or wants something (we now know that comes from the Boxer in her). Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs around 75 pounds. Gypsy has been with us for 3 years, and we don't know why she has not been adopted yet. She is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog we have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with older children. Gypsy is smart and might benefit from more obedience training from someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is a sweet dog. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy must be in the house as a loved family member. She must be walked on a leash and have a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. To emphasize...although Gypsy generally gets along with all dogs (she currently lives in a home with 14 other dogs both large and small and there are no problems), She either needs to be the only dog in the house or only paired with one other large male dog. Gypsy has been with the rescue for 3 years and a change will be scary. She needs an experienced adopter who is patient understanding, and willing to give her the time she needs to get comfortable in a new home. She is a great dog for a single person or couple. Any children should be over 10 years of age. Gypsy spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. She is now heartworm-free and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy is located in Texas but can be transported after she is adopted. Her adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to several scheduled stops in Ohio - including but not limited to - Columbus, Cincinnati, and Akron OH Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this very good girl. Story
BasilMaleAge: 11.5 yearsWeight: 60 lbsBreed: English Bulldog/Beagle Mix Hey there, I’m Basil. I am a happy and loving guy who would do best in a home without other dogs or kids. I really don’t have much interest in cats, so a home with cats would be just fine.  I am crate trained, but don’t need to be in a crate when you are gone. I am house trained, but I do wear a wrap inside since I am a senior gentleman. I do well on a leash too (I do pull some with excitement, but my harness helps Immensely). I love to wander around the backyard, travel with my human, take naps with my human or just nap by myself on a comfy bed or sofa. My foster mom says I am soulful and loving and I just want to be your best friend. I would love to be with you as much as possible. I also love a good bone, all the treats and a stuffed Kong. I am also on renal support prescription dogfood that will need to continue in my new home and I have a heart murmur that will need monitored yearly (and is common for my breed), but neither of these slow me down. I can’t wait to find my own forever family who will show me all the love and attention I deserve.  If you are interested in meeting Basil apply at www.causeforcanines.org Adoption fee: $225 Must be an Ohio resident & 23 or older. No Children. ##1633287##
