Story
Nova has an infectious enthusiasm for life! She is always eager to make new friends – both human and canine. She thrives on playtime with other dogs and enjoys spending time outside. She is curious and a good listener - it’s easy to let her know playtime is over and it’s time to relax. When it's time to wind down, Nova loves nothing more than cuddling up with her favorite humans and furry friends alike. Whether she's snuggled up on the couch or curled up in bed, Nova is happiest when she's surrounded by love and affection. She has the ability to curl up into the tiniest of spaces, so no one is safe from Nova's cuddles – and who could resist such a sweet and affectionate pup? Nova has been fixed, vaccinated for DHLP-P, Bordetella, and Rabies, micro-chipped, wormed, flea treated, and heartworm tested. ($650 worth of veterinary care.) If you are interested and have a fenced in yard, please fill out an adoption application first. Allow a day or two to process the application and then call Lisa at 614 254-4641 if she has not contacted you already. Adoption fee: $350 We only adopt within the state of Ohio.

Story
UREGENTLY NEED TO REHOME!!!! Wren's unfortunately looking for her new forever home since I'm moving on April 24th and unable to give her the life she deserves. Two years ago I adopted her and she's the best thing that has ever happened to me. She's fearful of new people but give her time (and American cheese) then all she'll want is attention. She's the perfect dog for someone/a couple who doesn’t have any other pets. She loves her people so much and is the sweetest girl in the world. Her favorite activities are to boing super high when she's excited, go on walks, and cuddle with you. Wren's been through training and knows: it, down, stay, place, out (if something's in her mouth), crate, no, heel, off, gimme paw/other paw, pretty (sitting up on her back legs). She's crate trained, housebroken, and prong and e-collar trained. I will provide you with her crate, e-collar, her favorite toys, some treats, and her current food. I'm willing to drop her off depending on your location.

Story
Roberto is a social pup looking to expand his circle and make new friends. Hopefully that will include you! Roberto can’t wait to meet his future adopter! This big, hunky boy is very food motivated and loves to show off his skills for a tasty treat. He knows how to sit and he’s great at posing for photos. He’d love to be a social media star with his outgoing personality and winning smile! Roberto is a strong guy so his ideal adopter would be someone who doesn’t mind his large size while going for walks. When he’s playing with other dogs, he shows his excitement by vocalizing. To make sure any potential canine siblings don’t mind all of his talking, a meet-and-greet is recommended! Roberto has been on several foster sleepovers and has done super well. He's housetrained, has yet to meet a stranger, and loves to sleep in bed touching you (although he has been noted to be a bit of a bed hog!) If you’re looking for a goofy, entertaining BFF and the best wingman around, then Roberto is your guy! If you’d like to learn more about him, please fill out his adoption application. Roberto is 2 years old and weighs 56lbs. All of our animals come fully vetted so he is neutered, microchipped and up to date

Story
We dont give up easy. We will try again to find Milo a foster or adopter that can help him continue his progress. Milo loses his temporary foster this week and boarding is too stressful for him.Milo came to us as a rescue only from the shelter. He is a young boy, only 1.5 years. He is fearful of men and takes time to get to know them. He is fine with women and is a big old home body!Milo just wants to play with his toys and love on his mom. He loves to play and will play rough at times. He also plays too rough for small dogs. Ideally he would do best with no other dogs or a female dog his size. Milo is making progress, but it is slow. He may always be fearful of men he doesnt know. Whatever demons have haunted his past stay on his shoulder reminding him he needs to be on guard. He needs OUR help finding a home, a companion he can trust, a safe place to play with his toys (hell bring them with him), a yard to run in and a soft bed. PLEASE consider fostering or adopting if your home meets his needs. You can apply at ricopetrecovery.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fill out an Adoption Application Is your shadow letting you down? Is it proving to be just a fair weather friend? Are you looking for a new shadow? Well look no further! Meet Miss Bea, aka Meatball. She will happily take the place of your shadow (even on those rainy, gloomy days). She’ll never let you down! Likes: Miss Bea loves food, her people and belly and rump rubs. Pretty much any attention you give Miss Bea, she eats right up. Dislikes: According to Miss Bea, all vacuum cleaners need to die. Otherwise, Miss Bea complains about nothing. She has yet to meet a stranger (well, maybe the vet is just a teensy bit suspicious). Personality: Miss Bea is all wiggles and kisses. Temperament: Happy, happy, happy! Miss Bea is fine with brushing, though she can be wiggly happy during her spa sessions. She is also fine with having her nails done. Energy level: Even with her confirmation issues, Miss Bea is one energetic young lady…if only all that energy could be harnessed, dogs like Miss Bea could very well be the answer to the energy crisis! Favorite activities: Being with her people; eating; sleeping; snoring; chewing safe bones; stuffed and squeaky toys will be met with a swift death. Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Miss Bea has a high prey drive and, therefore, would not do well with cats or other small, non-canine critters. She has not yet been tested around young children, however, due to her enthusiasm and mouthiness, she would probably do best with teenagers.  Miss Bea does quite well with other dogs both male and female, big and small. However, she can initially come on a bit strong (think freight train). She would do best in a home with another dog that can keep up with her exuberance. Not good with: (Cats? Dogs? Strangers? Men? Kids?) - Cats and other small critters (she thought the chickens would make for fun, chaseable, squeaky toys). Housetrained: Yes Crate trained: Yes. Bribe her with a piece of cheese and she will go right in and settle down quickly. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Yes Walks well on a leash? Miss Bea pulls a little but listens well and is very eager to please. Challenges: Dyson vacuums have nothing on Miss Bea! She will need a slow feeder bowl (the slower the better). Miss Bea is working on her mouthiness; taking treats gently; sharing toys; leash manners and jumping up. Any Medical issues? Miss Bea will be having an ortho consult to address her confirmation issues (which don’t slow her down or seem to affect her running and playing). She is currently receiving a daily Cosequin pill to help her joints stay as healthy as possible.  What would be the best kind of home? One with another doggie friend that matches her energy to play and cuddle with. Though she does well in her crate, someone who works from home would be an added bonus as Miss Bea adores her people. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include, but are not limited to: pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Our rescue policy requires the following: Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt a giant breed dog to homes where the dog will have access to highly varnished hardwood steps inside the home. Any inside steps to which the dog(s) have access, must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Methods or devices using pain or force on the dog to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior is prohibited. Applications for giant breed dogs must be submitted by the property owner. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Veterinary records will be checked. All references must be checked before any visitation of the dog is permitted at the foster home. All family members must be present during the home visit to the applicant's home. Any dog(s) in the applicant's home must have an introductory meeting with the rescue dog being considered, before any adoption can be completed. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption. Exceptions to this policy can be found on the Adoptable Dog Page. Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but occasionally mistakes one for a toy when she is over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. She is not too fond of puppies getting in her face either. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She could perhaps use more obedience training with someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved family member, and she needs a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Columbus, Cincinnati, or Akron Ohio. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
BasilMaleAge: 10 yearsWeight: 49lbsBreed: English Bulldog/Beagle Mix Hey there, I’m Basil. I am a happy and loving guy who gets along with kids and I really don’t have much interest in cats, so a home with cats would be just fine. I am a little selective with the other dogs I meet. I prefer friendly dogs.  While I am inside, I do wear a belly band. I am house trained and don’t need to be crated when you leave for your normal workday. I am also crate trained and I do well on a leash too (I do pull some with excitement, but my harness helps Immensely). I love to wander around outside and play with friendly dogs, travel with my human, take naps with my human or just nap by myself on a comfy bed or sofa. My foster mom says I am soulful and happy and loving and I just want to be your best friend. I would love to be with you as much as possible. I also love a good bone, all the treats and a stuffed Kong. If you do have another pet in the house, I would need to be fed separately. This includes snacks too. I like to guard my meals. Because of my age I have some worn down teeth and I did have a growth removed, but thank goodness it wasn’t cancerous. At my last vet appointment the doctor might have detected a murmur so, everyone is keeping an eye on that.  But, it doesn’t slow me down at all! I would love to find my forever family who will provide me all the love I deserve! If you are interested in meeting Basil apply at www.causeforcanines.org Adoption fee: $195 Must be an Ohio resident & 23 or older. Children must be 5 years or older.   ##1633287##
