Story
Mako is ready for his forever home 💙 He may be the type of puppy that makes you wonder why you got a puppy at times, but those ones always end up being the best ones! You are going to learn so much as you walk through life with his silly, clumsy little fella by your side. You also won’t go a single day without laughing at something ridiculous he’ll do, life is much more fun with a Mako in it. He’s the epitome of a class clown, and is looking for a forever home with someone that doesn’t take life too seriously. If you’re looking for puppy perfection, please continue your search. He IS super fun though. He can be trusted to self entertain and as much of a baby shark as he can be, he leaves non dog intended items alone. He’s incredibly social, almost too social at times, and isnt afraid to let you (and everyone else) know he feels left out. He is not shy, nor will he be afraid of or ignore your guests. He has no issues with being alone for a work day, and sleeps through the night only vocalizing when he is up and ready to go out. He travels well, loves his car crate. Has been enjoying getting out for neighborhood walks. He’s busy and drivey and would probably excel as a sport dog, with consideration for his missing limb (not that it slows him down any). This dog is smart. He’s the kind of smart that you have to put to good use and challenge daily. He’s a wizard with a food toy and will help you test all your at home enrichment ideas. As smart as he is, he’s also a bit of an airhead. The amount of times he falls, misses the intended jump, runs into a door or straight into your legs per day will leave you wondering if he lost a few brain cells along with his leg. He means well, but bless his heart. He’d be best suited for a home with humans who are sturdy on their feet and not a fall risk. He’ll do okay in a home with dogs if they are extremely tolerant of his exuberance and full contact play style. Please don’t subject your senior dog to him. They deserve peace that does not exist with him. He runs through life with an open mouth, and while we are getting better, parts of your dog (or cat) may still end up in there. I would prefer his forever home either not have stairs, or have stairs that have carpeting/treads. Same goes for flooring, rugs will help on wood floors as he does slip and we want to protect his other limbs and joints at all costs. Mako is a little love, but he’s still learning how to dog in a way that doesn’t raise your blood pressure. He’ll need you to cut him some slack as he continues to learn boundaries. Not all dogs learn appropriate behaviors at the appropriate time, but we’re trying to catch up! While the drunk frat boy does still show up at times, ive seen so much improvement over the last month or so. He truly gets better and easier to live with each day and I feel like he can definitely be successful in a new place. He’s about 6 months old, 30lbs, fully vetted and ready to be your best friend! He knows his name, sit, down, has an amazing recall, hand target, knows which door to ask to go out from, and keeps his crate clean. I refuse to sugar coat things and act like he’s not a puppy because that helps no one. But if you’re still with me and think he’s the one for you, apply at mercysdoorpetrescue.org. Thank you for considering my little Mako man! 🦈

Story
Pork Chop was rescued from a local shelter where he was due to be euthanized for space. Thanks to his foster, he was able to be given a second chance! This handsome, happy guy loves to run and play. He can be a bit of a rough and tumble player and can be a bit enthusiastic at times, but he’s working on it! Pork Chop has done well with dog friends, but should be in a home without cats. He is strong but super smart so with some fine tuning and training, he will have the walking skills to match his great personality. We are so glad Pork Chop made it out of the shelter and can’t wait to see who he chooses as his best friend for life. If you think you could be the perfect fit for him, apply at mercysdoorpetrescue.org.

Story
MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Ozzie is a 7-year-old, 60-pound Pit mix with the sweetest heart and the softest soul. This handsome boy is crate trained, potty trained, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids — truly the full package! He’s currently working on his leash manners and already knows a few great commands like sit, down, and stay. While toys aren’t really his thing yet, he’s definitely intrigued by the sound of a good squeaker. Ozzie is a love bug through and through, happiest when he’s close to his people — he’d love nothing more than to be your shadow (and he’s happy to share his love with a family of any size!). The first part of Ozzie’s life wasn’t what he deserved, as shown by a long scar down his spine and the way he occasionally ducks when a hand moves too quickly. But despite it all, his gentle, trusting nature shines through. He’s truly a picture of forgiveness and love. In his foster home, Ozzie has been an absolute dream guest — calm, affectionate, and endlessly sweet. He’s working on curbing his excitement when greeting people (sometimes he jumps or paws for attention), and he’s making amazing progress! Ozzie would thrive in a patient home where he can continue learning and feel safe, loved, and cherished every day. A home with someone who appreciates a super soft, living “weighted blanket” would be just perfect. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, the first thing to do is submit an application for approval. All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the rescue location as it is a privately run boarding, training & grooming facility. Individual meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Meet Parkour! A 11 month-old Pit mix, professional goofball and full-time chaos gremlin with a heart of gold. Parkour is deaf, but don’t worry — his nonsense speaks volumes. Give him an inch and he’ll show you exactly how he earned the name Parkour. Couch? Launchpad. Bed? Trampoline. Human laps? Perfectly acceptable landing zones. This boy is peak puppy energy: • Olympic-level leaf chaser (undefeated, unchallenged, unstoppable) • Zoomies that could power a small city • Nibbles everything he loves… which is everything • Treat-motivated? Yes. Treat-obsessed? Also yes. • Attention span of a goldfish on espresso But don’t let the silliness fool you — Parkour has manners! He knows “sit,” waits politely to exit his kennel like the gentleman he is, and he’s working hard on walking nicely on a leash. His kennel is his happy place (door closed = instant nap mode), and he LOVES fluffy blankets, soft dog beds, and burrowing himself into a cozy cuddle puddle after playtime. Parkour gets along great with dogs and even cats — he just wants friends, fun, and maybe a leaf to chase dramatically in the wind. He’s still perfecting potty training, but he’s doing great with a schedule. If you’re looking for a goofy, loving, high-spirited puppy who will make you laugh every single day, Parkour is your guy — flips not included… but definitely implied. MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Yogi is a 2-year-old, 68-pound gentle giant with a heart of pure gold. He is a quiet, sensitive boy who’s happiest simply being near his people. He doesn’t ask for much—just a safe place to rest, a calm environment, and someone who understands that love can be quiet and steady. Because of past trauma, Yogi would prefer to be the only dog in his home. He’s not aggressive—he actually gets along with friendly dogs who visit—but sharing his space full-time is stressful for him. What he really needs is a home where he can feel secure and know he won’t have to compete for comfort or attention. Yogi is a sweet soul who doesn’t understand why he’s suddenly without a family after spending the first two years of his life in a home. He’s grieving, but still hopeful. His Christmas wish is simple: a forever family who will give him the love, patience, and stability he’s been missing. Yogi is potty trained, crate trained and does well on a leash. He enjoys the simple things in life — lounging in the sun, exploring the yard, and spending time with his doggy friends. Does this sound like he could be the perfect fit for you!? Apply today! He’s not just cute—he’s a volunteer favorite who wins hearts everywhere he goes. Ray’s story began in a church parking lot, where he was found waiting for days after being abandoned by the only family he knew. At first, he was understandably shy, gently ducking his head when someone reached out—proof that he hadn’t always been shown kindness. But once Ray realized he was safe and loved, he blossomed into the affectionate, loyal, snuggly boy he was always meant to be. ✨ Ray’s Best Qualities: • Champion snuggler — the ultimate “Netflix and chill” buddy • Smart and eager to please — focuses beautifully during training, especially for treats • Independent when needed — happily entertains himself with toys • Great on leash — enjoys walks and adventures • House & crate trained — well-mannered and ready for home life • Ladies’ man — Ray gets along wonderfully with female dogs but prefers not to share his home with other males • Feline-free home needed — cats are not his cup of tea Ray is the perfect mix of adventure partner and cuddle companion. Story
Poor Jane came to us in need of an emergency surgery. She had a pyometra, which for those who don’t know, is an infection of the uterus that can happen in females who are not spayed. It is fatal if an emergency spay is not performed to remove the infection. It took her some time, but sweet Jane has finally made her recovery and is ready for her next adventure. She has discovered a passion for chasing balls around in the play yard……. and biting trees for some reason. She was attacked by 2 other dogs in the past, so she has a lot of reservations around other dogs and is said to be reactive with them. Since she has been here, we have not had any issues, but a home without other dogs may be ideal for her. However, it may not be out of the question if there are multiple meet and greets and slow introductions. We are not sure how she does with cats or children. She loves to give kisses though! Jane has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has tested neg. for heartworm which is included in the adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this dog, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays)

Story
Poor Beef Cake was found abandoned in a park. Someone kind saw him and brought him to the dog shelter. It was noted on his intake paperwork that he was limping. After he was transferred to us, we took him to get x-rays which revealed a serious fracture in his femur. He had to have a surgery to put in pins and plates so the bone could properly heal. He was so sweet and gentle through the entire process, even through all the discomfort. Beef Cake has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has tested neg. for heartworm which is included in the adoption fee.
