Story
Chico (aka Chi Chi) has a zest for life and is always ready to play! He's on the lookout for a forever home that can match his turbocharged vibes. Ideally, his new owner would be just as lively and ready for walks or fun park hangouts as he is. This clever pup is quick on the uptake, responding to his name and a whole bunch of cool commands like sit, lay down, come, and leave it. While he might start off a bit bashful, once he warms up, he's a social butterfly, eager to make friends and have a blast. And don't worry, even in his shy moments, Chico's all about love and play, no hint of aggression in sight! Age: 2-3 years   Weight: 55 lbs  Vetting: Neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative.  Temperament:  Good with dogs and probably older sturdy kids because of his energy level. Training: House-trained and knows commands For questions about Chico, please email dtv.diyora@gmail.com  To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit.July 26, 2024, 11:57 am

Story
If you are looking for a snuggly girl who loves to give kisses, look no further than Musu! This 7-years old, 70-pound brindle-patched beauty has a soft coat and is very dog friendly! In the shelter she excelled in playgroups and she gets along famously with both of her foster brothers. She loves to lay with them when she isn't laying next to you. You will be wildly entertained with her crazy sleep positions. Musu is low-to-medium energy. After some play time outside where she can prance around and get in some good back scratches, she just wants to be with you. She can pull on leash, but it is manageable, and does not chase after squirrels or birds. She can get overstimulated when on leash but will sit when told to sit as a way to calm down. She has a few chew toys she likes, but overall does not care too much about toys. She would much rather have food! Her favorite part of the day is mealtime. Musu is housebroken and non-destructive. She will eventually settle down in a crate, but it is not her favorite. She prefers to be out and has free-roam in her foster house. Musu has been friendly and gentle with kids at events. However, she can jump when she gets overstimulated and would do best in a home without small children. You can see more pictures of Musu on Instagram @adopt_gargoyle_dcas Age: 7 years Weight: 72 lbs Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative Temperament: good with dogs, good with older kids (gentle with young kids but can jump up for attention).  Training, House trained, crate trained, knows commands  Sit and Wait.  Email for questions: sonaligokhale@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Ado July 26, 2024, 11:57 am

Story
Meet Cooper, a young, exuberant dog, who is ever so sweet. He has two paw print markings on his side to show just how special he is. His tail wags the moment you talk to him. Cooper was found abandoned and skinny on the side of the road, with a scar on his neck from an embedded collar. While it appears, Cooper hasn't had the best life, you would never know it from his appreciative nature and friendly disposition. He is working on gaining weight. Despite his ravenous appetite, he'd rather stop mid bite to get pets and check in with his foster parents. It also seems that he has never had a bed before, but he's really enjoying sinking down in the comfort of a soft bed for a good snooze. He has done well with other resident dogs of all sizes, even a small reactive terrier. Cooper is learning to walk on a leash and to sit and wait (rather than jump) for attention. He’s been a quick learner! He's also been willing to sit calmly in the back seat during car rides. While he is still fairly new to his foster family, thus far he has proven to be non-destructive and able to be on his own, although he would much rather be right by your side.   Cooper loves people and is ready to follow you anywhere or run after a kicked soccer ball. Despite his past, he is still a happy boy exuding an infectious energy that brightens the day. He would make a delightful addition to any family. Story
We adopted her from a rescue at 8 weeks old and she is approximately 6 months old right now. She was listed as a boxer mix, but as a previous boxer owner, I don't see any resemblance. I have no idea what mix she is. She is very energetic and clever. Knows sit, is potty trained. She needs a home with older kids or an active single person as she loves going on walks and wants to be part of a family. Unfortunately, we have very small children and she doesn't realize how strong she is. Her jumping on the littles is an issue. She is still very playful and likes to do playful nipping. We lost our senior dog earlier in the year and rushed to get a puppy. Our kids are very small and unfortunately, we cannot provide the time for training and attention she needs. It's not fair for her to be excluded when the kids are around, so I am really hoping to find the home where she will get the love and attention she deserves.

Yes ON HEARTWORM PREVENTION? Yes - she is HW negative ON FLEA/TICK PREVENTION? Yes GOOD WITH KIDS: Yes GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS: Yes (with proper introduction) GOOD WITH CATS: Mostly - she ignores out cat for the most part, but can be reactive if swatted so we would not leave her unsupervised with a cat PREFERRED CONTACT METHOD & INFO: email -  ali.mentana@gmail.com OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE DOG: Chloe is so sweet and cuddly, but she is also a bit nervous/insecure, so she needs a home that can be firm but gentle with her when it comes to training. She does great with other dogs of all sizes after a proper introduction, and loves everyone she meets after a proper introduction as well - the caveat there being that she can be very protective of her home and untrusting of new people when they first come in. We have found that Chloe does very well meeting new people outside on a leash and then coming inside the house together. She does have some storm phobia, which translates to anxiety around other loud noises as well (fireworks, construction, etc) which she usually reacts to by hiding in a corner until the scary sounds cease. She is on Prozac daily, which helps with her anxiety. She is very smart and treat-motivated, and has shown no destructive tendencies in the home.         Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 25, 2024, 9:27 pm

Story
Goldie is our sweet and lovable 9 year old Boxer mix, around 50 lbs. She's housebroken, very loving and doesn't meet a stranger - this girl loves people. Her owner had to move and couldn't take Goldie with her. She is great in the home, likes going for walks, loves chasing balls and has a sweet personality. She also loves other dogs her size and bigger. She would LOVE to have a fenced yard to run around in. The ideal fence for Goldie is a 6 ft wood fence which she has in her foster home. Goldie chases cats, so no cats in the home please. She is current on shots and also spayed. She’s just waiting for the right home now, is that you? July 19, 2024, 12:10 am

Story
Introducing Maple, an adorable 4-month-old boxer mix with a beautiful brown coat adorned with spots on her belly and distinctive white back paws. Her endearing black nose and chin add to her charm. Maple is a little clumsy but full of curiosity as she explores her world, recently conquering the challenge of stairs. She can be a bit shy around new faces but warms up quickly with a gentle approach. Affectionately known by her foster as "Baby Block Head," Maple loves squeaky toys and has a hearty appetite, especially for pizza crusts! Fun fact: Maple has even been in a commercial, making her your chance to adopt a puppy with a touch of celebrity! If you're ready to give Maple a loving home filled with patience, squeaky toys, and plenty of treats fill out an application here: https://tinyurl.com/LLARdogapp Maple’s estimated DOB is 3/13/24, we guess she will be 50-55lbs full grown. She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and flea free. She has had her first 3 rounds of puppy shots, but may still need some after adoption. She is ready for adoption on 6/20/24! Maple sleeps in a crate quietly overnight. She is not yet potty trained, but working on it!. She needs a patient and consistent adopter that understands how to care for a puppy. Story
Meet Maggie, a furry, fun energizer bunny who craves a loving home with plenty of space to stretch her legs. She's the life of the party and loves getting in on the action, but when she's done, she'll snuggle right up and keep your couch warm. This cutie is a quick learner and can't resist a good treat. She's a pro on the leash and would be thrilled to join you on long walks, hikes, or even a morning jog. Plus, her active lifestyle makes her a pawsome candidate for agility. When she's not trotting alongside of you, she enjoys solving doggie puzzles and going on snif-faris. While she wasn't too sure about other dogs at first, Maggie has made huge strides in making furry friends. She loves to play, but can be too energetic for some. So we'd be happy to set up a meet-and-greet with your current pup and our trainer to see if they're a match made in doggy heaven. Story
Penny is a sweet and gentle old lady.  She is very good with dogs and kids and is very low energy.  She walks best on carpeting or hardwoods with a lot of area rugs that offer her stability.  She does well in the car but needs help getting in and out.  She still has some spunk and will play for 5 minutes but then she wants to chill. She enjoys short walks but she is fine just wandering in the back yard also.  She stays loose in the house and has never been crated.  Her foster leaves for work for 8.5 hours everyday.  She is non-destructive, but she was having some stress when left alone so she is taking trazadone daily to help with this. She comes when called. She knows her name. Her hearing is not the best but she can definitely hear you.
