If you would like to apply to take Patti home, click the link next to their picture, or Visit our website at Www.godogsgorescue.org and fill out an application! We look forward to hearing from you. Patti is around 9 months old, she is what should be referred to as a ‘small circle dog’ meaning she isn’t a social butterfly that will enjoy new people or a busy household. She’s timid. We are looking for a patient and nurturing household for Patti that will be happy to do some empowerment training with her which we would provide to help her build her confidence. Patti is great with other dogs, housetrained, and currently tends to gravitate towards her foster dad, we do feel a child free household would be the least stressful for her and will require this. Time, patience and commitment to her wellbeing will be key in her new home.

As a Rescue do not euthanize dogs but dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved from animal control and they do euthanise. We can only save them when space is available or have an adopter. Burrata is a sweet bully girl low rider who was brought into the shelter from a neighboring city. She weighs 46#s, around 2/3 years old, heartworm NEGATIVE! She did ok with another dog(is forward/plays) and cats, she learned a lesson! She got slapped and ignored her from then on out. She is a climber! Does have a skin issue, been given a nexgard it will fix it.

Story
Meet Kogi - Take My Lead Dog Kogi is a 1.5 year old pint sized little lady. She's snuggly and shy at first, but you would be too if you ended up at a shelter after having a very loving home. Kogi has been granted a Handsome Dan's Rescue Take My Lead grant which means she comes with $500 in FREE private training, and supplies on top of that, once adopted. Kogi is an enthusiastic girl who has experience with agility, spring pole, sled pull, and running alongside a bike! Her TML credentialed trainer or behavior consultant will get you two started off on the right paw. Once her forever home or person is found, she will be matched to the professional who makes the most sense depending on the situation. Having known Kogi since she was a pup, I know that she is very well socialized to all things in the community, and folks of all ages. Upon assessment now at the shelter, we found that she was a bit afraid of the two dogs we used to assess her dog sociability. So she may do best as an only dog. In case you are wondering how I have known Kogi since she was a pup, I have known her very loving previous owner for years. Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, his housing situation changed and he had to give her up. We have promised him we will find her the very best home possible, and look out for her along the way. Kogi is a resident of the RISPCA where she is dearly loved. To apply for Kogi you can fill out an adoption application here: https://www.handsomedansrescue.org/adoption-application/ Or email heather@obhounds.com

Whether he’s playing with other dogs or chasing after his favorite toys, Jay brings joy wherever he goes. At night, Jay sleeps peacefully in his crate with no issues, making him an easy addition to any home. He’s a loving, playful pup who’s ready to find his forever family! Story
If you would like to apply to take CANELA DIMONE/courtesy post home, click the link next to their picture, or Visit our website at Www.godogsgorescue.org and fill out an application! We look forward to hearing from you. Canela Simone is a female spayed Boxer/Pitty Mix. Her doctor estimated her birthday as 3/2021 based on her size and dentition at her first few appointments. She currently lives in Western Massachusetts as a single pup with me. She is good with people, although sometimes it can take her a moment to warm up to groups that include tall men. She is very excitable when she meets new people and can forget her manners and try to jump up. She is very responsive to "four on the floor"/redirection with treats. She loves spending time with the neighbors' kids (ranging in age from 3 - 10), and does better with not jumping when around smaller humans. She is very partial to face kisses. She has not been around very many cats. The few cats she's spent time with have been for brief periods and she is too interested in them. She acts the same way with stray cats as she does with squirrels and birds, so I do not and would not trust her to live with cats. She has spent a lot of time around other dogs and enjoys them. Generally, she gets along better with male dogs that are her age and younger. She's been attacked at the dog park by two separate female dogs. So, we no longer go to the dog park and she no longer spends time with female dogs (with exceptions for female dogs with owners that I know well). When she is around male dogs she does well and is incredibly playful. She is very rambunctious and likes to roughhouse, so she would do well either as an only dog with a select group of friends or in a house with another young dog that really likes to play. I added two pictures with some of her dog friends. Canela has a few chronic illnesses (skin allergies, IBD, an immune disorder) that are being well managed by her primary vet and her internal medicine specialist. She's very much a happy, healthy girl - as long as she takes her meds and eats her prescription diet. If she eats too many foods/treats that aren't prescribed, she'll have GI issues. If she stops her meds, she'll deal with skin itching and irritation. Additionally, without her meds she'll have episodes of high fevers and lethargy. She hasn't had a full episode in almost 2 years, since she started taking Prednisone. Her only mini episode happened when we tried to taper her down to see if she could handle a lower dose; she could not. She was back to normal within hours of resuming her normal dose and she's been just fine since. She gets her oral medications mixed directly into her food (and eats with no complaints). She also receives one subcutaneous injection a week (this is done at home while she's eating, and she's perfect for it).
