Story
Meet Rexie - Take My Lead Dog Rexie is a young and energetic pup. He is about ten months old and is always ready for an adventure. He would love to be a hiking buddy, to be a running buddy, and would likely excel at agility. Rexie has received a Take My Lead grant to work on some of his over excitement that he is experiencing in the shelter setting which is not ideal for a young energetic dog. We are confident that once out of a shelter, and with some FREE training through his Take My Lead grant from Handsome Dan's Rescue, he will learn to be the best pup he can be. Story
Introducing the most handsome 1 yr old boy, Dave. The beginning of Dave’s life wasn’t the best, but you would never know it as this boy’s smile lights up the room and he is just full of love. 💙🐾 Dave is smitten with every person he meets and is also absolutely fantastic with other dogs and has a wonderful submissive personality. Dave seems to be housetrained and isn’t a destructive boy though he does love romping around with any and all toys. 🐶❤️ Dave adores attention and two and four legged friends and would love a family that includes him on their adventures, whether they be hikes or snuggling up for a Netflix marathon. This handsome boy still gets excited about greeting new people so either a family that is willing to work with him on that or one without toddlers would be best.🫶🏻 This gorgeous, loving boy is ready to live the good life with his forever family and he’s hoping it might be you! 🎉😊 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Mr. Snuffleupagus! This big boy has always got his nose to the ground and tail in the air as he explores and reads all of the most recent updates from his doggy friends. He usually goes by his first name, Gus, but when he's being professional or goes to work he expects people to call him Mr. Snuffleupagus. Gus has lived with dogs and kids before and did well, but cats and small animals are a bit too fun to chase. **if you are interested in Gus, please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and come in during our open hours**

Story
Rufus is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Meet Rufus, a mostly white pocket pittie mix with the most handsome hazel eyes. He's equal parts playful and cuddly and has a great disposition with people and other dogs. Rufus loves his humans and feels much more at ease when they are around - a home where you're home most of the time or have the ability to enroll him in doggie daycare would be best so he never worries about being alone ever again! You'll find him playing with his squeaky toys, napping, and observing the neighborhood from his favorite window when you're hanging at home with him. While not a requirement, we do think Rufus would benefit from having another playful dog companion, or a home where he can regularly socialize with other canine pals. He is still getting used to the leash and going for walks - a fenced yard where he can run around and feel secure would be best. Rufus loves to go on hikes and car rides for some Dels. He is such a lovebug and so ready to start his next chapter. Are YOU ready to find your new best friend? If you're looking for a velcro pup, look no further :) If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Bo is a 6 yr old pittie with an amazing personality and lots to give for an experienced dog lover Bo's amazing traits: LOVES people and loves to be the center of attention Super funny. Wiggling around, showing off his toys, doing happy hops, he does it all Very smart. Well trained in commands, leash trained, muzzle trained, and kennel trained Non-destructive, easy to potty, let's you clip nails Not an excessive barker Bo is a sweet, cuddly guy with a big heart. He had a rough start as a stray puppy and now has problems with reactivity, displacement aggression, and resource guarding that we can no longer manage alongside our other dog. Bo needs a loving, patient home with no other pets or children, and an experienced handler who can consistently follow behavior routines. Bo is very smart and knows his commands very well. We worked with a behavior trainer for a year to create effective behavior management routines and medication for Bo, which we will share with you
