Story
Come meet me during our events Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM at the Homeward Trails Manny Law Adoption Center, 11116 Fairfax Station Rd, Fairfax Station, VA. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: adoptioncenter@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Adoption Center ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Adoption Center ADOPTION FEE: $475. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 40-50 lbs. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Bob co-walks nicely around other dogs but has been learning to be less nervous about playing with them during his time at the Adoption Center. KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not currently know how Bob is with cats. If that is needed, let us know and we'll work on getting that information! KNOWN WITH KIDS: We do not know how Bob is with kids, though he can be energetic and jumpy. KNOWN CUES: Sit, Down, Place (go into) Crate. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Bob is very energetic coming out of his crate and can be very excited when interesting things are happening around it. KNOWN LIKES: Sniffing, exploring, treats, human affection. KNOWN DISLIKES: Unknown. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Bob was seized from a household because he was emaciated after a court case giving custody to a rural shelter partner in Twin County. Since then, he has earned back a lot of his weight and is a happy, well-adjusted boy who grunts and snuffles like an adorable little piggy when he's enjoying sniffing around the yard. Bob loves a good walk, and despite his size, he is not a big puller on the leash, unless he's found a good scent to trail. He is also redirected easily by asking him to "Sit." He is pretty sure he's just a lapdog who wants to spend a lot of his time snuggling with his human friends. Bob was neutered during his stay with Homeward Trails, and he was previously treated to prevent the spread of ringworm. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital, Union Veterinary Clinic and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.

Story
Meet Finnick! Finnick has been living in the shelter system since he was only 8 weeks old, but is finally in a wonderful foster home! He is a happy, friendly, intelligent boy who deserves a chance! Finnick can be shy around new people and may take some time to warm up. Finnick has really grown to like visitors in his foster home, and continues to make progress meeting new people. Treats go a long way towards making this boy your new best friend. He needs a home that will give him the time and patience to help him settle. Once settled, Finnick has shown to be pretty low energy and happy to lounge around with his people, soaking up all the attention. Finnick is crate trained, but may whine a bit as he learns a new routine. Finnick is SO smart! He knows lots of commands and tricks. The training possibilities are endless. Known cues: Get up, get down, sit, spin, roll over, lay down, paw, crate, place, wait/stay, drop it, and leave it. Good with Kids? Would be best with children over 10 as he can move quickly when excited but may possibly knock a younger child down by mistake. Good with Dogs? Finnick likes to walk with other dogs but isn’t the most confident with making dog friends so any introductions should be done slowly. Finnick can be a resource guarder, so we recommend for him to be the only dog in the home. Good with Cats? We do not currently know how Finnick is with cats. If that is needed, let us know and we'll work on getting that information! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 55 lbs Want to hear some fun facts about Finnick? 1. He is a great listener. He will leave something alone if you tell him "no" or "leave it" 2. He loves belly rubs. 3. He loves crawling on his belly in the grass and rolling around in it. You should look at the videos on the website. 4. He walks great on a leash. 5. He enjoys the outdoors 6. He is treat motivated. 7. He knows many commands. 8. He is playful and goofy! 9. He loves playing in the water. 10. He loves car rides and will sit or lay there quietly. ___________________________________ If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: trailshomefarm@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Foster Home in the NOVA area. Story
Hi!!! My name is Leah. But, my foster mom calls me Yoda because I have wonderfully independent ears! I am crate trained, house broken and walk well on the leash. I enjoy car rides and am a perfect co-pilot. I only chew on toys for aggressive chewers. I don't bother anything that isn't a toy. I love the outdoors and playing with my foster canine brother. My foster canine sister is older, and while I stay in touch with her, I give her space to snooze or whatever. I have impeccable house manners, and the best place to be is by your side. I am a little shy but love attention, and take direction well. I am very food motivated, but treats should be taken gently! I hope to meet you soon! Thank you for your interest in Leah! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=18088 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Leah, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.

Story
Meet Athena, a sweet senior girl at almost 7 years old. Abandoned with her 10 pups in Puerto Rico in the middle of a violent rain storm, she was rescued by a good Samaritan who took them inside to safety. Traveling up to Virginia in 2019, she found a wonderful home with a family that loved her very much. Four years later, her family had a small human of their own, and Athena did not do well adjusting as they became mobile. Athena is physically healthy, though a pesky floating kneecap can sometime bother her if she's been running around a LOT. She may also have some allergies that affect her skin. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Athena does well with other, as long as they do not have too much energy and respect her boundaries. KNOWN WITH CATS: Currently unknown KNOWN WITH KIDS: Athena would prefer to not live with kids. KNOWN CUES: Sit, down, paw, and excellent recall! KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: She is housetrained, and can be left on her own for long periods of time. KNOWN LIKES: Affection, swimming, car rides, and playtime with humans ___________________________________ If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail trailshomefarm@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Trails Home Farm LOCATION: Trails Home Farm, Delaplane, VA HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Any dog at the Trails Home Farm or in foster require an appointment for any approved adopter to have a meet and greet. Story
Kaiya is a 55-pound, 3.5 year old Staffordshire Terrier mix with a heart full of love and a serious talent for cuddling. She adores people and truly believes she’s a lap dog. She’ll happily curl up with you any chance she gets! Kaiya is fully house trained and has great manners indoors. She thrives on human connection and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, affectionate best friend. She is reactive with other dogs and animals, so she’ll need to be the only pet in the home. She is not great on a leash due to her reactivity, so someone with a yard and privacy fence is also ideal, but not necessary. She is used to being alone for upwards of 8 hours while we have been gone at work. Kaiya has some funny quirks like bunny hops, sploots, a love of crunchy vegetables, and is a great feet warmer!
