Story
This is Zeus he is about to turn 2 years old in June, he is a male pitbull. Had him since he was 3 months old. He is the most sweet and loving dog. He is potty trained and would be an amazing addition for a family who can dedicate him time. He loves chasing birds and going on long walks. He has never shown any signs of aggression and is the biggest scary cat. He deserves a loving family who will give him the time and attention.

VINNY'S ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED!! Vinny is being Sponsored by a generous donor which means that his adoption fee is already paid!! His adoption fee has been waived in hopes he can get adopted right away! ADOPTION FEE: WAIVED!! Vinny is a playful boy who can't wait to have a home of his own! At our shelter, he loves toys, splashing around in the water, and car rides. Did you say "walks?" Vinny loves walks and exploring new places and will be a great adventure or hiking buddy with a little leash training. Vinny also likes to play with other dogs and would do best with another dog in the home, but he can play a little ruff so he needs a dog who also likes to wrestle and tumble. When he isn't playing with his friends, toys or on walks, Vinny relaxes in the staff break room and likes the calm environment for his naps. He says it makes it easier to get a lot of attention and to melt onto the floor when he gets all the pets. Behind his sweet puppy dog eyes is a tough background. Good people found Vinny as a stray in remote West Virginia. he is smart, always smiling and figures out food puzzles faster than we can find new puzzles for him to defeat! Vinny has become quite stressed in the kennel environment of the shelter and has some pent up energy. However, when the staff takes Vinny on outings or home for the weekend, he is a perfect gentleman. Vinny just needs someone to give him a chance at being the best friend that he is. Is that you? Follow Vinny on his own Instagram page: @vinnythebeefcake DOGS: Most CATS: NO KIDS: 16+ years old due to his ruff and tumble play style ADOPTION INCLUDES: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE HOMEWARD TRAILS ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: sueb@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Fill out the application and we will follow up with you! We will connect you to his foster! LOCATION: Cash is in a foster home! ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Sue B (sueb@homewardtrails.org) ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for this dog $495 and includes spay/neuter and microchip. Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 75 lbs ESTIMATED AGE: 2 years KNOWN WITH DOGS: Cash is good with other dogs and LOVES to mix it up. He grew up with a feisty 25 lb Cattle Dog mix and loved to play tug-o-war. He would love another playful rough-houser to keep him active! KNOWN WITH CATS: Cash has lived with up to 5 cats, sharing his bed and toys and cuddling with them. He may take a bit to get used to new cats but has a history of living very well with cats. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Cash does well with humans of all ages. He's a bigger happy boy so may do best with kids who can be well supervised and not get knocked over. KNOWN COMMANDS: Cash knows basic commands and redirects well when asked! KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: He is housebroken but accidents in the beginning will happen and he's starting to get used to crating. KNOWN LIKES: Play, people, other dogs, toys, cuddles and more play. KNOWN DISLIKES: ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Does not love being left alone but we think this will get better as he's still adjusting to losing the only person he's known since he was 4 weeks old. But ideally, someone who is home more than less will be ideal. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Cash is AMAZING. He was purchased when he was 4 weeks of age (way too early) but grew up in a loving home with dogs and cats. Sadly, his owner had to move and could not find aplace to rent with a dog so he had to give Cash up. He sleeps well at night and is pretty good about staying on his big bed. He has been able to be off- leash in a fenced area with us and has zero desire to roam away from people. He will chase cats outside-although he is redirectable. He likes to play tug with a rope toy- it's his favorite. He's a strong boy so another strong dog would be an ideal playmate for this boy. He loves a good bone. He also bonds fast with people so he needs someone to love him and get him exercise and build his confidence. . HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington /Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities. Exercise. Mental and physical exercise. Dogs of all sizes. People of all ages. Treats. Treats. Treats. KNOWN DISLIKES: Unknown at this time ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet Finnick!!!!!!!! This boy is nothing but an absolute gentleman. He loves giving kisses, will sit right away for both his food and water. Sleeps all night in his crate with no issues, although I do think he loved his classical music. Listens immediately when asked not to do something or to do something. Really wants to please you and be by your side. Lets my dogs take his toys with no issue, loves following them around and playing. I want to go on the side of medium energy because currently I think my dogs are more high energy than him. He was in a shelter for SEVEN of his NINE months, but like so many rescue dogs is just so grateful for a chance at a normal life. We are getting on a schedule and he really enjoys that when he potties outside he gets a treat. Finnick is on a special food diet that is working wonders for him, he loves the food and it is helping him quiet a bit. He has crystals in his urine but at his last check up he had very little crystals!!! That's right Finnick you are a super star!!! He is nothing next to perfect and anyone that passes him up is missing out on the most loyal and amazing companion you will find. Finnick is a nine month old pup who came to HT from a rural shelter. Finnick is a 9 month old who has spent his entire life in a cold rural shelter. Potential adopters would inquire about him, but once they hear that he is on a specialized diet for crystals in his urine, they turn away and adopt a different dog. The vet does not know if he will outgrow having crystals in his urine or if this will be a lifelong thing he will have. Until it is resolved, he must eat a specialized diet.
