Story
Hi, I’m Bonnie, a 5‑year‑old Black Mouth Cur and Terrier mix with a big heart, a gentle soul, and a whole lot of love to give. I’m about 50 pounds, beautifully trained, and happiest when I get to be part of my family’s daily life. I’m the kind of dog who bonds deeply, listens well, and thrives when I’m included in the fun. I grew up in a home with male dogs and cats, and I’ve always been comfortable around both. I’m currently living with cats and doing great with them. I also get along wonderfully with male dogs. I’m being rehomed through no fault of my own — the resident female dog in my current home has developed a female‑female dynamic with me that makes things unpredictable at times. I’m a sensitive girl, and I’ve started to feel anxious because of it, so everyone agrees I’d be happier in a calmer environment where I can relax and feel secure. I’m a very smart dog and I love to learn. I walk beautifully on a loose leash, and I graduated from a three-week board-and-train obedience program where I learned all the polite pup essentials like "place," "sit," "stay," "wait," and how to pause respectfully before stepping through a doorway. I’m also trained to a tone collar, so I can respond reliably off leash. I enjoy structure and routine — daily walks, playing fetch in the yard, doing scent work, and working on enrichment toys are some of my favorite things. I’m affectionate, loyal, and love being part of an active family that includes me in their adventures. I would do best in a home with cats and/or male dogs. I’m a loving, steady companion who wants nothing more than to make my people happy and enjoy life by their side. I'm spayed, vaccinated, and on monthly heartworm prevention so everything is good in the health department. I’m currently in Durham, NC, but I can be transported to other locations for adoption. A transport fee may apply depending on distance and volunteer availability. If you’re looking for a sweet, well‑trained, active companion who will give you her whole heart, I’d love the chance to be part of your family.

Story
Meet Lola &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Lola is an approximately 10-month-old 50lb female American Staffordshire Terrier who was found roaming the roads alone… lost and forgotten. Despite whatever she experienced before rescue, she has one of the sweetest temperaments you could ask for. Lola absolutely loves people and just wants someone to love her back. She is the kind of dog who will quickly become your shadow, your best friend, and your most loyal companion.Lola is crate trained and seems housebroken. She has good manners and just pulls a bit on the leash but corrects easily. She just wants to please! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143    Lola is still a little unsure around other dogs, so we believe she would do best:    • As the only dog, or possibly with larger, well-balanced dogs   • Preferably no cats (can be discussed)   • Older children preferred   Must be local if you have other dogs to do a proper introduction. This is important to help set Lola up for success.   This beautiful girl deserves a family who will show her what it truly means to be safe, loved, and never forgotten again.   &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a heart full of love, Lola may be your perfect match.     PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 11, 2026, 1:28 pm

Story
Meet Blu! This big boy was surrendered through no fault of his own and would love to be your permanent playmate! Blu walks well on a harness once he`s gone to the bathroom and gotten his zoomies out of the way. He`s excited to be out and about to explore and watch everything going on around him. Blu will `sit` politely for treats and is gentle when he accepts them. He loves toys! He even like to take them on his walks. Blu can often be seen chasing tennis balls or bouncing around with squeaky toys in our play yards. He has that adorable goofball puppy energy. Blu is house and crate-trained, and is great with kids. He has shown appropriate and playful behavior toward other dogs while he has been with us. Blu would be a great fit for any family. Come in and meet him today!

Story
There are dogs who trust people… and then there’s Stewie, who trusts people in a way that makes you stop mid-sentence and wonder how such pure goodness is even possible.Because here’s the thing - Stewie didn’t get the “people are good” starter pack.He was left chained in a junkyard, starving, hurt so badly he needed emergency surgery just to survive (shout out to "Team Tommie" & RACC for making that possible!). The kind of beginning that usually ends with a dog who flinches at every hand, who keeps a careful emotional distance, who says, “Thanks, but I’ll handle life on my own from here.”Stewie didn’t get that memo.Instead, he greets every human like you’re the long-lost love of his life. There is a full production number involved -- body wiggles, toe taps, joyful squeaks -- the kind of enthusiasm that suggests he might briefly achieve flight. Once he settles down (and by “settles,” I mean drops from “fireworks display” to “light show”), he presses himself into you and contorts his head in this unbelievable way just to look at you. With his one eye.Just to make sure you’re still there.Sit down, and you transform from “human” to “kissing surface.” A beloved, slightly overwhelmed kissing surface. Occasionally, Stewie adds a gentle nibble, like he’s saying, “In case the kisses weren’t clear, I mean this.”Now, let’s be honest - Stewie is not a plug-and-play dog.He needs to be your one and only -- other animals make him anxious. And he currently believes that a leash is less of a “let’s go for a walk” situation and more of a competitive pulling sport where you are, unfortunately, the sled. But then you see him in our shelter office -- calm, careful, quietly brilliant. He doesn’t destroy things. He lets himself out when he needs to go. He moves through the room like a polite dinner guest who doesn’t want to mess up the place. He could easily knock over the food bins and help himself to a feast, but he sits and looks at you with so much hope... you serve the feast to him!Stewie's the kind of pup where you put in a little patience, a little structure, and in return you get something most people spend their whole lives looking for -- someone who is just genuinely, deeply, ridiculously happy that you exist.Animal Aid Society is located at 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton, VA, with visiting hours from 9am to noon, including weekends and holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Story
**COURTESY POST**-- Contact kfour25@gmail.com to learn more. Sheba is not kenneled at Animal Aid Society. Sheba's original owner passed away from cancer. A kind friend of the owner has been caring for Sheba in her home. There are other dogs in this home. Sheba prefers to be an ONLY dog so this has presented a bit of shuffling in the home. To keep the dogs separated, they have to rotate the dogs out of their crates. Sheba would love to have a permanent home where she wouldn't have to be shuffled about. She loves people. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, on heartworm and flea preventative and is in tiptop shape. Could you be the guardian angel that Sheba has been waiting for? Please contact kfour25@gmail.com to meet Sheba and her foster Mom or have any questions answered.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Story
Zeus is a pure bred American Bully. He is a loving dog and is house trained and behavior trained. He is currently 5years old and not neutered because I was getting paid to mate him a few times, so I did not want to make him sterile yet. He loves playing and going outside for walk but I would keep him on the leash at all times because at times he does show minor aggression to dogs that are bigger than him. I have to rehire him because he is too big and active dog to stay with us while me and my wife are currently expecting a child in the next 4 months. If you are interested please contact us for a visit or video call to meet him to see if it is a good fit. He has all his shit and I will continue paying for him medical for the remaining 90 days until the new owner takes over these responsibilities. Just a kind gesture that I am willing to do make for a new family willing to love and keep him safe as we have done for these last 5 years.
