What a great family dog this girl will make!!! She LOVES kids! Always cuddling, gentle, quiet, innocent, and does a happy dance! Chicken LOVES kids. She recently met a sweet 5-year-old boy at the park and her eyes lit up and her tail started wagging as soon as he petted her. She will walk at a heel to kiss your hand and get a pat on the head. Her recall is amazing. She comes trotting toward you to get love. She met my five-year-old son and acted totally comfortable around him, enjoying his attention. This girl loves to run with her person. Chicken would make a great girl for a family who enjoys running, biking, and hiking. This girl has not slowed down with her age nor does she look it. Her favorite event is cuddling near her people. She loves soft blankets, lying near your feet while you work, and cozying into your side on the couch. She doesn't even mind sharing her couch and you with other dogs. Chicken is a large mature girl who still has a lot of pep in her step. We think she is about 7ish years old. Chicken loves going to the river and wading in the water. She is the perfect girl to take along with the family. Chicken shows no signs of not being able to hang with an adventurer. When out at the park she is perfectly behaved. Perfect car rider and easy to handle. Chicken Nugget is a confident older girl who does well with other dogs. She isn't incredibly playful but would enjoy a home with another easy-going dog. What I LOVE about DUKE: he is calm, exceptionally loyal, and loving, perfect to take anywhere. Duke’s current foster is a teacher with no other dogs at home. Duke is okay with hanging out in his crate until she gets home. He is fostered in a suburban neighborhood and loves to take walks with his foster for exercise. He also loves couch cuddles! Duke says he would prefer a home with squirrels to chase in a big backyard and a cozy couch to squeeze his 62 pounds into to get his love scratches on. His age is a complete guess. He may be younger. He does not act like a senior. He is mature and laid-back but does not act old at all. We absolutely adore his energy level, and how lovable he is. He is going to make a best friend for someone. " When I took Duke out on the trail this afternoon, he walked beautifully on the leash! There was a dog on the trail that was not on a leash. Yikes! Duke did not react, even though the dog was barking and walking towards us. I had Duke sit and wait patiently until the dog started to walk away with its owner. Duke would check in with me, and we kept walking. He had a great walk!" Duke is an 8-year-old medium-energy sweet soul who loves attention and going places. He went to a restaurant this week and stood patiently next to the table while we ate dinner. He did not jump on people, bark, or do anything embarrassing. He sat for french fries on command, greeted the children, and wagged his tail when every new person came up to say hello. He did not bark or snap towards other dogs. He was a pleasure to have around out in public! His foster mom says, “ My favorite thing about Duke is he is so happy to see me when I get home and after his walk he loves to couch cuddle with me. Duke is also the quietest dog I have ever met and the perfect car rider. Anyone who adopts him will be so lucky!”- Hannah He will jump right into the car and sit in his assigned chair like a perfect gentleman. His manners are impeccable in the car. Now once Duke gets a bit of exercise down, his leash skills of pulling improve well.... until he sees those pesky squirrels. He thinks they secretly torment him!! Presenting Adelaide Cupcake, the family-friendly funny girl! Adelaide has never met a stranger, she’s eager to please and very obedient. She’s a hugger, and an exuberant kisser. She moonlights as a comedian, with her many funny faces, her goofy gait, and her massive, infectious smile! Adelaide is a pittie mix, approximately 5 years old and 73 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. She looks to be a pitbull mixed breed, based on our experience. She absolutely loves water. When we fill up the baby pool, she wants to stick her head in the water hose and play. Her favorite thing is riding in the car though. She absolutely loves to load up and go for rides She sleeps all night in her crate like a good girl and she’s potty trained and well behaved in the house. We put a hat and tee shirt on her and she seemed to like them. She kept the hat on for a long time! She is dog friendly and will play with her doggy friends for short periods of time but most of the time she is off doing her own thing or loving on any human around her. She would do best with other dogs that are moderately playful like her, but will respect when Adelaide when she doesn't want to play. Adelaide is medium energy and would do great in a semi-active family with kids. She does great with kids, as long as the kids are used to big dogs! Adelaide’s favorite outing is a coffee shop date, she loves her pup cups! She also loves park dates that include playing ball, catching treats in the air, and meeting other hikers on the trail! She’s the bestest car rider!! Adelaide is a little bit of a princess when it comes to her walks, she would rather follow her heart than our lead- she’s learning to be led by hand feeding treats as you walk, and does her best walkies on a gentle leader, a specialized type of leash! When you take Adelaide home, we’ll be sure to send a gentle leader with you, so she can put her best foot forward on your first walk together! She is also crate trained and potty trained but may need a reminder about where the appropriate potty places are once in her forever home. 🐾 Meet Rocky! 🐾 Rocky's journey from a lonely wanderer under a freeway to a beloved, joyful companion is inspiring. This resilient pup, a 57 lb Staffy mix, was found after days of uncertainty, bearing the scars of malnutrition and neglect. Hey friends! My name is Rocco and here's more about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Staffordshire Terrier mix Age: 4 years 6 months approx.  Gender: Male Weight: 44lbs (20 kg)  Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - My name's Rocco and I'm a survivor! My first few years were marked by abandonment as I was left to fend for myself on the busy streets of Guadalajara, Mexico. I spent my days begging strangers for scaps and sipping from toilet bowls (an acquired taste). I was living a bustling gas station which was a rather dangerous environment for me to be in and I was found with several nasty lacerations on my body to prove it. When some kind souls finally rescued me from this perilous existence, my journey to healing began! Over the course of a year, my frail figure and broken soul slowly mended and I was able to pull off a great transformation - not just of the physical kind, but of my spirit as well! My exuberant and loving personality began to show and I started to reflect and return all the heartfelt affection of the people who gave me a second chance at life. My rescuers say my progress towards being the incredible pup I am today is testament to the healing power of love! TEMPERAMENT - I am verrrrry loving and deeply enjoy the company of humans. This also means I can be quite bouncy and energetic around people and I do well with boundaries to remind me that I can't give you hugs ALL the time (dang!). I play well with other dogs too although I can be reactive to some male dogs who try to dominate me and would do well with a family who is willing to work on this with me. Luckily for you, my foster family says I am very obedient, smart, and responsive to training...I've learned several commands in training school! I am also the perfect mix of energetic/playful while outside and calm while at home. If you choose to add me to your life I will repay you 1000x with all the kisses and love in the world! We had more of the litter, but before they could get to us in Washington, California adopters who met them loved their personalities so much, they adopted them. Brooklyn is in a home with dogs and older kids and is doing great. We think an active home ready for adventures and of course another friendly dog would be great! Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

Maralyn, spelled different than the classic beauty but absolutely bringing her own classic appeal. When I met this girl I refrained for a full 3 minutes before I was down on the ground with my arms around her neck. She is squishy and huggable and it shows! They gush over how smart and easy-going she is while expressing that she has a comforting presence. In her foster home she lives with two pugs who she gets along well with, even when they try to crawl and jump on her like a jungle gym. My favorite thing her foster mom shared was their morning routine of starting the day together. One enjoying a spot in the sun the other enjoying a cup of coffee. A quiet moment of companionship and love. On top of being a peaceful companion, Maralyn has learned the art of welcoming guests politely and reading the room for the “dog-people.” Overall she is quiet, never barking frivolously, but definitely for effective communication. Given that Maralyn is house trained and she hasn’t yet mastered opening the door herself, she has to speak up when she needs a little help getting outside. Personally, I love a dog that knows how to ask to be let out, or in, when needed. She also likes to tell you a little about her day when you get home, but again, its never excessive. Its her call for connection. Maralyn is also a gentle gal, from kids to cats she knows how to “make herself small” and sprinkle in little kisses and carefully share her toys. One of her favorite games to play with kids is fetch! She is a smart, loyal girl, with A+ listening skills and a love for belly rubs. **Meet Sweet, Sweet Selma—Always Ready to Smile!** Selma is one of the most beloved dogs here at the rescue- a friend to all, a great emotional-support-dog to the other dogs at the rescue, trusting, loving and caring. Just look at that cute smirk—her smile could brighten anyone's day! With this cutie around, you will never feel lonely because she will want to be with you every chance she gets. **See her cuteness here:** [Watch Selma](https://youtu.be/oVABB6MvxtM) We estimate Selma is about 1 year old and possibly a Boxer and Shepherd mix, but with rescues, that’s just our best guess. She currently weighs around 50 lbs. Here at the rescue, Selma does well in a crate and has been great with her potty training since day one. A social butterfly through and through, Selma has never met a human she doesn’t like. Yelling, crying, rambunctious kids? No problem! She has so much love and compassion for people. On walks, when she sees a friend, she wiggles her body and gently heads their way to say hello, nuzzling her head into your arms, making it impossible to resist petting her soft fur. Selma is a boxer girl through and through, with other dogs, Selma will paw or play-bow to invite them to engage with her, and then begin a spirited game of chase. She’s a great player and does well with both aloof and playful males. That boxer nature also makes Selma an exceptionally calm dog, and a wonderful emotional-support-dog to her canine companions. In our rowdy boarding barn, Selma offers a calming presence and helps keep the energy down for our boarding dogs. Here at the rescue, she’s often a member of our “gentle play” play groups- groups for dogs that prefer a calmer playtime experience. She’ll play chase for a bit, with lots of breaks. She’s friendly, relaxed, respectful and caring with other dogs. When Selma is playing, she also remains fairly people focused, checking in with her people from time to time, and taking lots of breaks from playing to sniff around and re-assess her environment. Selma always knows what’s going on around her- that makes her such a pleasure to be around. Selma was found as a pregnant stray. While she was in our nursery barn tending to her babies, she loved when staff spent time with her. She enjoyed her daily bully stick and would carry it to one of the behavioral staff to hold for her. She’s starting to get the hang of being a home pup and is proudly learning to take treats gently. She’d also love to learn how to cook in the kitchen with you, so make sure your cookies are safely tucked away in their jars! She’s a dream on a leash and will be great to take on walks. Enjoying the flowers and the fresh air are her favorite parts of a stroll. Selma is silly and eagerly waiting to go to her forever home. Selma’s perfect home has at least one loving human to provide all of the pets and snuggle sessions she could ever want. Sadie is an absolute lady with a love of squeaky stuffies, tennis balls, and people! This amazing girl stole all our hearts with her ease and smiling face, we hope she reaches yours too! Her face gives off an older look than her physical health and energy level show. Those details don’t speak to who Sadie is at her core though, this is a dog that only sees the goodness and reflects it right back. Everyone who met her commented that she “made my day” or “her happiness is contagious!” It was hard not be overwhelmed with a smile for seemingly no reason at all, no silly tricks or attention getters, just her company. She is something really special in this world and we can't even imagine how much more she will shine once she finds her forever family. Sadie’s easy-going nature can be seen in all her interactions- with other dogs she was friendly and content in their company, and with our house cat she was perfectly respectful. An ideal home for Sadie is one where napping is encouraged and dog-toys will be purchased. For a canine companion, Sadie would love an easy-going partner-in-chill and cats are welcome! Thanks to her calm and quiet nature, and size, Sadie would be a great fit for the apartment life or a house with a yard. All we think she absolutely needs is a family of her own and a home where she is loved! Sadie is great with kids, in her video she plays with a 6 year old. She’s gentle, patient and not easily overwhelmed by the sudden movements and loud noises that young children make. Sadie is also great with cats, not overly interested and happy to coexist. She’s a champion on leash, with enough stamina and interest to accompany you on long walks, but loves the indoor lifestyle enough to spend hours and hours snuggling on the couch. Sadie is a wonder-dog, and so thoroughly loved here at the rescue- we can’t wait to see her showered in the love of her forever family.
