The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit cat and dog rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of cats and dogs from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption to match them to their purrfect family by having them in foster homes so that we can assess their behaviors, how they decompress in a home, and find out more about their unique personalities. We ask that you give them time (can take weeks to months) to decompress in their new home, do slow introductions to other pets and let their true personalities have a chance to come through. Three Little Pitties Rescue just celebrated our 5-year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 10,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! Story
Love big dogs?? Keep on reading! Meet Ferdinand Blue. Estimated at 3 years old and a whopping 86 perfect for cuddling pounds. He is sooooo cuddly with people! He will lay in your lap and rub his face into you. He is such a lover boy. This larger than life fella is a stunner. His velvety blue fur is so soft and shiny-- makes you want to rub your face on it! Check out his feet-- styling with tube socks in the front and no shows in the back...lol. And his soft, gentle eyes....uff! Handsome, I tell ya! Blue isn't all looks...this guy has quite the personality. Though he's a big guy, he is a total softy-- and a sucker for little dogs! They're his favorite! He lives with multiples, and though he doesn't play with them, he will let them use him as a pillow or a bridge sometimes! They walk all over him and curl up on him for warmth, and he is there for it. Though he may look big and tough, bigger dogs intimidate him and make him uneasy. He prefers to hang with the littles. He is so patient with them and will share toys and hooves, which are his favorite! You just need to keep many of them around so that there is a hoove buffet. Plenty for everyone! He absolutely adores people-- so much! He will spin in circles out of excitement and try to greet with hugs. All that love will knock you off your feet but with a treat in hand, he is the best boy and will sit at attention and greet gently. A rub under the chin or booty scratch and he melts like butter. Once he loves, he loves hard. He may not cuddle with dogs, but he sure loves a cuddle session with his favorite humans! The way you know you have made your way to his heart is if he starts to lean in and rub his body on your legs like a cat. Now, if he brings a toy or his rope (he LOVES playing tug) and drops it at your feet, you are officially BFFs for life! Like to go on walks? So does he!! He is a perfect leash walker with a head halter, and currently goes on daily walks with his amazing foster momma. She has done an amazing job at basic training. Blue knows sit, down, "too much" with a waiving hand gesture, has excellent recall, "tst, tst" as a positive interruptor to get his attention, goes into his crate on command, and will jump in the car with a "load up". Car rides are his favorite! He will either lay full plop on the seat or stick his head out the window to entertain everyone with his lovely, flapping mouth jowls. Nothing better than having a dog that is fully accustomed to routine and crating. This big boy is very easy to manage, and thrives best with structure. He enjoys spending quiet time in his crate where he will happily wait for you to get back from work or work from home. Can't beat that! This gentle giant is very loving, but prefers a calmer, laid back home. Young active kiddos make him nervous and it will not be the best environment for him, but he loves and has lived with older kiddos, 13 & 17 year old boys, who he adored. I don't know about you, but if I didn't have a house full of dogs, I'd be ready to hit the adoption link. Don't wait too long-- a pup this amazing will not be available for long! He's currently fostered in Blaine, WA, but absolutely worth the drive for any interested adopters that live further! Story
What a great family dog this girl will make!!! She LOVES kids! Always cuddling, gentle, quiet, innocent, and does a happy dance! When out at the park she is perfectly behaved. Perfect car rider and easy to handle. Chicken LOVES kids. She recently met. a sweet 5 year old boy at the park and her eyes lit up and tail started wagging as soon as he pet her. Watch her video here: https://youtu.be/GKQsiN3-c9w?si=6BFHCePXqFsWp44L What I love about Chicken the most is how in tune she is with you when you give her attention. She will literally walk at a heel to give your hand a kiss and get a pat on the head. Her recall is amazing. She comes trotting toward you to get love. She met my five-year-old son, and acted totally comfortable around him and enjoyed getting attention from him. Chicken is a large mature girl that still has a lot of pep in her step. We think she is about 7 years old. This girl loves to run with her person. Chicken would make a great girl for a family who enjoys running, biking and hiking. This girl has not slowed down with her age nor does she look it. Chicken loves going to the river and wading in the water. She is the perfect girl to take along on adventures with. Chicken shows no signs of not being able to hang with an adventurer. She also loves being with her person, so an apartment would be okay if she got the right amount of exercise. Chicken does not want to be left alone in a yard, but to be an integral part of your life. Although she wouldn't mind sunbathing next to you in the yard on a warm day. Chicken Nugget is a confident older girl that does well with other dogs. She isn't incredibly playful but would enjoy a home with another easy going dog. Chicken Nugget is currently in Texas and ready for a virtual meet and greet. We are happy to answer any questions you might have. Story
Duke says he would prefer a home with squirrels to chase in a big backyard and a cozy couch to squeeze his 62 pounds into so he can get his love scratches on. His age is a complete guess. He may be younger. He does not act like a senior. He is mature and laid-back, but does not act old at all. We absolutely adore his energy level, and how lovable he is. He is going to make a best friend for someone. " When I took Duke out for a walk on the trail this afternoon, he walked beautifully on leash! There was a dog on the trail that was not on leash. Yikes! Duke did not react at all; even though the dog was barking and walking towards us. I had Duke sit and wait patiently until the dog started to walk away with its owner. Duke would check in with me, and we kept walking. He had a great walk!" Duke is an 8 year old medium energy sweet soul that loves attention and going places. He went to a restaurant this week and stood patiently next to the table while we ate dinner. He did not jump on people or bark, or do anything embarrassing. He sat for french fries on command, greeted the children, and wagged his tail when every new person came up to say hello. He did not bark or snap towards other dogs. He was a pleasure to have around out in public! He will jump right into the car and sit in his assigned chair like a perfect gentleman. His manners are impeccable in the car. Fall in love with DUKE: https://youtu.be/NU9U3hKYQ_o When taking him to the park to walk, he was a quiet boy the entire time. He wouldn't have cared if a stranger wanted to say hello. The kids playing loudly in the background didn't bother him at all either. Dogs would stroll by and he would want to meet, but he never once barked or growled at another dog. Now once Duke gets a bit of exercise down, his leash skills of pulling improve well.... until he sees those pesky squirrels. He thinks they secretly torment him!! Duke is dog friendly but being a senior gentleman, he doesn't want to play or rough house. His perfect dog mate would be an easy going female or an older female girl who knows how to relax. Relaxing is Duke's jam! Duke is fostered in Texas! We would love to do a virtual meet and greet and answer any questions about this boy. We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! WHAT A GOOF BALL! Legend lives up to his name! Such a happy playful 2 year old pup! He knows his name and wants everyone to know he thinks he’s the cutest Legend there is! Let him charm his way into your heart by watching his video: https://youtu.be/oR4MEeKAkDQ?si=ypHSQKTOqr207T0Q Legend loves to play with other dogs wrestling and sharing toys while playing tug. He is a rough and rowdy player so a home that can keep up with his energy would be best! Even though Legend loves to play he is perfectly content with a bone to chew on. He is fostered with two male dogs that aren't playful and getting along great. He’s treat motivated and a good listener so he will make a great dog for training. He is working on his leash skills and getting better every day. Watch him take treats: https://youtube.com/shorts/hbbzTRt-m8s?feature=share He sits patiently in his kennel and is a SOLID dog!. Legend was hysterical to watch in playgroup as he’s a class clown and he loves to help other dogs feel comfortable to play too. Watch him play here: https://youtu.be/j5QHZF8B5OM?si=GDpioBzR8a672Opn He responds great to verbal commands and is an incredible dog! Legend is fostered by a young college student with 2 dogs of her own and he is thriving with them. Overall, he’s a great dog that would love a home that will cherish him and provide with with love. Story
This dog was brought in as a stray after running free for a couple months and finally a couple ladies were able to gain its trust. The finders toddler was petting on the dog. The dog licked one of their cats and did good with it. He did chase the chickens and he has not had any meets with other dogs but did not engage with them as he was passing the kennels. He knows how to sit, down, walks well on a leash and did good on the car ride here. He was very observant and weary of his surroundings at first when he came into the shelter. He did not show any aggression.

Story
Hey friends! My name is Rocco and here's more about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Staffordshire Terrier mix Age: 4 years 3 months approx.  Gender: Male Weight: 44lbs (20 kg)  Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - My name's Rocco and I'm a survivor! My first few years were marked by abandonment as I was left to fend for myself on the busy streets of Guadalajara, Mexico. I spent my days begging strangers for scaps and sipping from toilet bowls (an acquired taste). I was living a bustling gas station which was a rather dangerous environment for me to be in and I was found with several nasty lacerations on my body to prove it. When some kind souls finally rescued me from this perilous existence, my journey to healing began! Over the course of a year, my frail figure and broken soul slowly mended and I was able to pull off a great transformation - not just of the physical kind, but of my spirit as well! My exuberant and loving personality began to show and I started to reflect and return all the heartfelt affection of the people who gave me a second chance at life. My rescuers say my progress towards being the incredible pup I am today is testament to the healing power of love! TEMPERAMENT - I am verrrrry loving and deeply enjoy the company of humans. This also means I can be quite bouncy and energetic around people and I do well with boundaries to remind me that I can't give you hugs ALL the time (dang!). I play well with other dogs too although I can be reactive to some male dogs who try to dominate me and would do well with a family who is willing to work on this with me. Luckily for you, my foster family says I am very obedient, smart, and responsive to training...I've learned several commands in training school! I am also the perfect mix of energetic/playful while outside and calm while at home. If you choose to add me to your life I will repay you 1000x with all the kisses and love in the world! ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – I am friendly and sweet with older children but can be rambunctious so supervision and an assertion of boundaries is recommended - see here (this is because I don't know my own strength and can be bouncy - for this reason I wouldn't do well in a home with younger children).  Dogs – I do well with other non-dominant dogs (see here and here) but can play a littttle rough (that rambunctiousness again!). I can be reactive to dominant male dogs and would do well with an owner who is willing to work on this with me.  Cats – Unknown  PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – My rescuers say I am great with my leash skills as you can see here, however I may need some additional patience and training. House trained – My rescuer says I am doing very well with this but I may need some additional training and patience.  Crate trained – My rescuer says this is going well but I may need some additional training and patience.  Car rides – I can get nervous in a car and may need some additional training to help me relax and enjoy this relatively new experience. I have been enrolled in training and I know some commands like 'sit', 'stay' and 'no'. I am a very smart boy if I say so myself! Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I have a few small scars on my body from some old wounds - one medium sized scar is on my leg.  I am neutered and vaccinated. NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. Hellooooo out there!! My name is Gizmo and here's my deets: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Staffordshire terrier/Lab mix (just a guess!) Age: 7.5 months approx. Gender: Male Weight: 36lbs (16 kg) Current Location: Baja Mexico RESCUE STORY - Like my super sweet sis, Gucci, I was found abandoned as a tiny pup with all my siblings! You can imagine that we were quite a sight for sore eyes at the time. Thankfully, some pretty nice hoomans took us in and cleaned us up and now I'm ready to find my furever home in the Pacific Northwest with you!! Whaddya say?! TEMPERAMENT - The kind hoomans at the shelter say that I am quite the 'mellow fellow', even as a puppy! What an awesome trait to have. I'm also a very good boy on a leash and I looooove affection and giving hoomans hugs and kisses (my ruff beginnings didn't break my soul one bit!!). I would make the ultimate cuddle bud and would do well in a family that enjoys taking me for a stroll and then snuggling up on the couch (so basically, almost anyone!).  ENERGY LEVEL - Low/Moderate GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown Dogs – Yep!! I get along just fine with other dogs.  Cats – No thank you! ***Located in Houston, TX*** Available for transport. Hi! Kona is an adorable puppy born with 7 other siblings. Mom who is pictured with them wandered into an apartment complex very pregnant and starving. The weather was getting cold and rainy but animal control told the people who lived in the apartments if any food or shelter was placed for her they would not come pick her up. Luckily we were able to make space in a foster home where she gave birth to 8 healthy pups 2 days later. She has been a wonderful mama dog with her pups. Kona is growing into a wonderful, sweet, loving and happy girl and is eager to find her forever home. She is one of the more shy and less outgoing of the litter so would do best in a home where she can go to training and have lots of socialization. Due to breed restrictions the puppies are not available to any rental situations and all applicants must have 5 years vet history with a previous pet. Story
Laika- the happiest, bouncy girl who rolls on her back for love and pets with anyone she meets. She is very submissive and gentle with people. She plays awesome with male dogs and enjoys it! Watch her adoption video here! She is quiet in her crate and well behaved. She has great manners. She is around 60 pounds and estimated to be around 3 years old. Though with rescue, we never have any guarantees on age or breed, we think she may be a boxer pit mix. What we do know for sure is…. Laika is a happy and friendly girl, it seems like her tail never stops wagging! She loves new people and greets them as if they were old friends and can’t wait to lean into them for all the pats! This bubbly personality translates to dog and cat friends as well! Laika did amazing meeting two resident cats at the rescue, and when she was swatted a few times, took it like a champ! She really just wants to play and have a good time. Who can be mad at her for that? If you have a fun and uber dog savvy cat who would love a companion look no further than Laika! When she was introduced to several different dogs, she had the time of her life! We usually only introduce 1-2 at a time but with Laika she was ready for more friends and was excited for the playgroup full of goofballs. She prefers her friends to be rough and rowdy like her when it comes to play style! Laika is currently being fostered in Texas and spends her days running around the backyard tumbling around with her 4 legged foster sibling. She gets very vocal with her play which is sure to tell you she’s having a good time! Laika is very intuitive in other dog’s behaviors and is comfortable expressing her boundaries if they are pushed, then right back to rough housing again! Though she enjoys a good romp and tug of war game, she also knows how to wind down when the time is right. She loves getting on the couch and worming her way into that perfect spot beside you. Her foster family has even nicknamed her “Licka Laika” because she covers you in big open mouth kisses as soon as you plop down! She’s one of those snuggle bugs you always find yourself with a million pictures of to show off to your friends and your Starbies barista of course. Speaking of friends, meet your little’s new bestie! Laika lights up with children and gives them the best gentle kisses. She’s a big softie and wants to hold them… or be held by them we think it’s cute either way! Since some of her excitement is just too much to hold in her thickums silky body, she gets a little jumpy to say hello, so the sturdier the kiddos, the better. When she met several staff member’s kids she was so happy! With a quick curt “no” she stopped her welcome jumps and melted at the kid’s feet for love. With continued correction and positive reward from her family, we are confident she will learn quickly how to navigate small children. Laika is currently fostered right now with children above age 8 who she makes laugh daily with her “loud butt noises”. We don’t judge girl! She’s just a big goofball full of love to give! We hope you’re ready for a lifetime of giving belly rubs because that’s what this girl is all about at the end of a long day… or anytime in between! Whether you’re looking for a dog for your home or apartment? She is your girl! Since Laika has tons of energy to give she will do best in a home with another dog and the opportunity to play often. Laika is a strong and curious on leash(those smelly smells, am I right?) so will need continued leash training, but she is very receptive and eager to please. She enjoys regular walks on her harness with her foster family in the neighborhood greeting all the people and pups that pass her. If you are looking for an all around 10/10 ride or die bestie submit your application now or you’ll miss out on the dog of a lifetime! Currently fostered in Texas- Laika is ready to transport to her forever new home! Don't miss out on this amazing girl! Oh my heck this boy!! Xander Lane will for sure keep you on you toes in the absolute best way. He is goofy, loving, full of personality, and will always keep you entertained and laughing. He's the type of dog that doesn't even necessarily need to be doing anything, just existing and he'll still make you smile with the cute little expressions he makes. One of my favorite things about him is how happy he is all the time and of course the way his tongue peeps out of his mouth. He instantly makes us smile and we know he'll make you smile too. Watch his video here: https://youtu.be/MG2VrOkorno?si=lfTSvRujHmhikXsz Xander Lane is a pittie mix approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 46 lbs and is full grown. He is the perfect fun size, not too big and not too small. He is exceptionally dog friendly and loves to make doggy friends. He is best friends with an 80 lb male that is just as goofy as he is and they love playing together. He also met a massive cane corse who is triple he size and he wasn't intimated by him or anything. All he wanted to do was play with him and Xander even took a correction from the big guy for playing too rough and did beautiful with the correction. Xander would love to be adopted out to a family that has another dog that he can play with and romp around in the back yard with. He also would do best in a home with a backyard. He loves to be outside, rolling around in the grass and just living his good ole doggy best life. Xander is medium energy that will require exercise and mental stimulation. He's not a marathon runner nor will he require that much exercise but a good romp in the yard, short run in the neighborhood, and I'm sure would also make a great adventure companion in the mountains. He will need to polish his leash skill and learn some basic obedience manners but he is treat motivated and eager to please. Which will help make any additional training that much more enjoyable. To our knowledge, he is crate trained and potty trained but may need a reminder about where the appropriate potty places are once in his forever home. We are willing to test Xander Lane with anything you need us to in order to ensure it’s the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know.
