Story
Animal Profile: Nutmeg is an estimated 3-year-old, 70 lb neutered male mixed breed listed as a lab mix but likely with some bully too -- who knows? He was rescued from the high kill Bakersfield Animal Shelter where he was assessed to be timid but friendly with people and respectful of other animals; Nutmeg is very affectionate once he has a chance to get to know you. He has a gentle mellow energy. Foster Update: Nutmeg is one sweet boy! While he can be a little shy at first, once he warms up he loves to be social. He will need a slow introduction to any potential dog friends, but loves to run and play in doggy daycare once he is comfortable. He loves to play ball and could do it all day. Nutmeg has been working hard on his obedience, and will thrive in a home where his new structure and skills will be kept up on. While he loves to run and play, at the end of the day he would love to snuggle up with his person.  Nutmeg has been in foster care with the trainers at A Dogs Best Friend in Vancouver, WA. He is a board and train grad, and has wonderful manners. Nutmeg is house and crate trained, and knows the commands sit, down, heel (on a loose leash), place and come. He participates in doggy daycare and enjoys his time with his trainers, but Nutmeg would love a family to call his own. Adoption Info: Nutmegs adoption fee is $550 which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go to the care for all dogs in the rescue. Apply online at www.doggoneseattle.org Animal History: Nutmeg was rescued from Bakersfield Animal Shelter and arrived to foster care in the Seattle area on 6/19/22. He will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.November 30, 2023, 2:46 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Meet Ryder! He's an estimated 2-year-old, 55 lb neutered male bully mix. He came to the shelter as a stray and was a staff favorite. They described him as friendly, fun and adorable.   Foster Update: Ryder is a handsome and energetic dog who loves to play.  He gets lots of compliments, in part because of his muscular physique -- he looks like he hits the gym every day! Ryder loves to be by his people and becomes quite cuddly when you hold him or rub his belly. He’s always ready to chase, tug on a rope or fetch, although he hasn’t quite caught on to dropping the ball after he retrieves it. Ryder doesn't typically bark at other dogs but he is strong and has a rough-and-tumble play style. He loves to bump and go under/over other dogs. Ryder will need a tolerant and sturdy canine companion if in a home with another dog.  Ryder is crate trained, doesn’t mind getting showers and does not chew on furniture, shoes, or socks. He does get excited when you let him out of the crate or guests come over, and is working on impulse control and leash manners. He’s a strong guy and will need a strong owner, structure, and continued training. He typically will stop most undesirable behaviors with a firm “NO,” except when he’s pulling on the leash, in which case it takes a bit of patience and re-direction. Experience with pit bull breeds would be ideal. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current core vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, health certificate, heartworm test, transport from California to Seattle. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was rescued from euthanasia at Tulare high-kill shelter in California and arrived to foster care in Seattle on Thurs 7/20. He will be available for adoption after evaluated in foster care in the greater Seattle area.November 30, 2023, 2:46 pm

Story
Hi, I'm Zeus! I'm a 5-year-old staffy. I've had some ups and downs, but I'm ready to find my forever home. I really need somebody that's going to give me a structured life, with rules and boundaries. I enjoy structured walks with time to play on the playground, and tug is definitely one of my favorites! I will play fetch for a while ... pretty cool that I just learned to bring the ball back instead of just chewing on it. I don't mind cats, but with other dogs I need a slow intro. Mostly, I just want to share your snacks and cuddle on the sofa with you. Animal Profile: Zeus is an estimated 5-year-old, 60 lb neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier who is looking for a loving forever home to call his own. His former owners shared a rental home with his current caretaker and then just up and left. He has been taken care of (rather than surrendered to a shelter) by this good Samaritan ever since, and we are helping to find him a new home. Zeus is now crate trained and house trained and has obedience training too! He is friendly with all people and has lived with older children without any issues. Zeus was previously leash reactive but now walks politely with training tools; he will need an adopter willing to use a training collar to manage his leash reactivity. Zeus currently lives with other dogs and does fine with that as long as toys are not in the picture; he is prone to resource guarding toys (with other dogs, not people) and so toys would need to be managed in a multi-dog home. Zeus does live with cats and is OK with them -- good boy! He is currently fostered in Vancouver, WA and ready to meet you! Adopter Profile: Bully breed experience preferred Securely fenced yard required Balanced dogs considered Cats OK Adoption Info: Zeus’s adoption fee is $550, which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Training Info: Zeus has been fully trained with A Dog's Best Friend in Vancouver WA. Training for adopters will be included with his adoption.  Animal History: Zeus was owned by a couple who left him in a shared home; another resident (who is a dog trainer) kept him to help find a forever home versus bringing him to a shelter, and has fostered him since summer 2022. He is currently fostered in Vancouver WA and available for adoption.November 30, 2023, 2:46 pm

Story
Animal Proflie: Meet Elenor! She's an 8-year-old Staffy with a lot of love to give! She is an excellent trail companion and will happily snuggle with you on the couch at the end of the day. She can live with other animals and has experience with cats and rabbits! We expect she'd do okay with chickens as well. She'd share space with balanced dogs, no problem. Elenor has been lovingly raised since she was a puppy but now -- as her humans have a young toddler in the home -- is looking for an adult-only home to spend her golden years. She is not a fan of the erratic nature of little humans! This beautiful pibble is loving and loyal, house trained and crate trained, and loves to go on walks, hikes, or just chill. She has a nervous personality (not a social butterfly) but warms up quickly with treats. Elenor has had two rear CCL repairs and she's ready to hit the trails! She loves adventures and can take on a few miles without an issue. She would love a semi-active family in her golden years to keep her up-to-snuff (she's proud of her figure). Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400: Elenor is spayed, up to date with core vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchipped, and has a recent health check with a veterinarion. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Elenor was adopted as a puppy from a rescue organization that is no longer in existence and the owners had a baby. Elenor hasn't adjusted to the baby in 3 years and the owners are rehoming as friends of the rescue.November 30, 2023, 2:46 pm

Story
Meet Modelo, the beefy dog with a big heart and an even bigger appetite! With his striking blue eye and light black speckles on white fur, Modelo is a true one-of-a-kind pooch. If you're looking for a dog that's full of life and zest, then Modelo is the pup for you! He's always on the go and loves nothing more than playing with his toys. In (not actual) fact, Modelo has a bit of a toy obsession - he's collected so many over the years that his humans had to rent a storage unit just to keep them all! Despite his toy addiction, Modelo is also a big fan of the great outdoors. He would love a yard to play in and explore. Just be warned, he will want you to play with him! He loves interacting with humans. He is housetrained, kennel trained & knows sit and shake. He still can learn more tricks and commands and is looking for someone to show him the way! Modelo is a bit of a goofball and has a great sense of humor. He loves making his humans laugh and will do just about anything for a treat. He's also a bit of a foodie and enjoys trying new snacks and treats. His favorite? Beef, of course! This big, beefy boy is looking for a forever home with a family that can match his energy and love for life. If you're ready for a furry companion who will keep you on your toes and make you laugh every day, then Modelo is the dog for you! To see more videos and pictures of Modelo, copy and paste this link: https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-57 You can apply directly for Modelo by clicking the "Apply For Adoption" Button All of our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Meet Champ-ersaurus, the big, gentle dinosaur dog who will steal your heart with just one wag of his tail. Despite his intimidating size, Champ is a lover, not a fighter, and is always eager to please his human companions. He's a quick learner, too - he knows how to sit and shake on command! Even though he was picked up as a stray, we can tell he’s had human interaction, he's potty-trained & used to being in a house and a yard. He doesn’t like the crate, yet isn’t destructive when left alone at his fosters home. He loves to get on the bed and is the happiest when he’s there. He loves kisses and snuggles and will normally take over the whole bed when he’s allowed up. While Champ is dog-friendly, he will give a few passive warnings if he is confronted with aggression from another dog. He does well with evenly matched dogs & likes having a play pal. Camp has had the most fun romping in the yard with some of the younger pups and plays gently with them. Champ doesn’t care much for cats & is not the best fit for a household with feline friends. Champ is definitely a people-dog - he prefers human companionship. If you're his owner, you're the apple of his eye! He's leash-trained and very calm on walks, even when encountering other dogs. And he loves going for car rides - he won't jump out unless invited to do so! At the shelter he was a volunteer favorite and gave the best hugs when they would come to visit him. Camp doesn't care if you are a man or a woman, he loves them all. He likes treats and takes them with ease. While Champ is a calm and well-behaved dog, his excitement can override his listening skills. We think he would do much better in a home with children over the age of ten, as he may accidentally knock them over or get a little too passionate with his zoomies. A yard and room to run would be fantastic for Champ. Champ loves toys, but he's not sure what a ball is for - he's more of a slow-moving tank than an athlete! He'll jog or run alongside you if you ask him to, but he's not very athletic and prefers to take things at his own pace. Maybe morning coffee in the yard where he can zoom or rest as he so desires! Champ-ersaurus is a wonderful dog who just wants to be loved and approved of by his humans. If you're looking for a big, loving dog to join your family, Champ is that guy. He will be an easy add to a home with another pup, or a fun family looking for a new addition. To see more pictures and videos of Champ copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Champ by clicking the “Apply for Adoption” button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-172 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org.
