Story
Meet Rambo, the Anatolian mix! He is friendly and affliative with people - loves being pet! He has attended walking buddies and playgroup with other dogs at the Shelter; enjoying playing with pretty much everyone! A volunteer who has taken Rambo on day trips reports that during time in her house, he would always pottys outside.. so he has a good basis for being house trained! Rambo has gone on outings to the beach and hikes and LOVES IT! He walks nicely on leash, is curious, and up to join in on any and all adventures!Rambo has quite a fan base here at the Shelter. Here are his reviews from volunteers:`For me, the sweetest thing about Rambo is he really likes to lean into physical contact against a leg when being petted.` -Jed`When it comes to playtime in the enrichment yard, he lightens up my heart!` -Jutta`I love the way he unabashedly leans into you like he has known you his whole life. So goofy and eager to please.` -Madeleine`Setting aside his puppy energy, he is calm, even-keeled, and good natured.` -Dave`I love his seemingly endless energy for toys and balls. Even with all of htat, he has a loving tender side and is always down for a good cuddle.` -RobRambo`s adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous Good Samaritan! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Let me introduce you to Cleo, our sweet, soulful Great Pyrenees mix who weighs about 70 pounds. She’s not just a pretty face (though her big brown eyes will melt you); she’s also incredibly smart. She watches everything and picks up on new things quickly—she already knows how to sit, stay, lay down, and “leave it,” and she’s learning more in doggie school every week. Cleo is potty trained and a great passenger in the car. At night, she sleeps soundly on our bed, curled up like she owns the place—and honestly, we don’t mind one bit. We haven’t tried her in a crate since the one we have is too small for her, but she’s been just fine without it. She loves chasing squirrels and once lunged at a neighbor’s cat—she thought it was just another squirrel in disguise—so a cat-free home is definitely best for her. She enjoys playing with other big dogs, but she’d also be perfectly content as the only dog in the house, soaking up all the love. At training, she’s been around small dogs and done well, but since everyone is on a leash there, we can’t say for sure how she’d be in an off-leash setting. She’s up to date on all her shots, and her spay is scheduled for the end of September. Cleo is one of the gentlest, most loving dogs we’ve ever had the joy of knowing. She’s not big on licking faces, but every now and then, she’ll surprise you with a kiss. She really is something special. Please familiarize yourself with our Adoption Process: https://angelsfurryfriends.org/adoption-process/ If interested to schedule an Appointment to meet, please fill out Adoption application: https://angelsfurryfriends.org/adoption-application-dogs/ We are a small, all Volunteer Foster Based Rescue Group, we do not have a Shelter Location. Story
Looks like: Anatolian Shepherd mix Female, 6 years old (estimated), 87 pounds Like her namesake from Peter Pan, Nana is the picture of loyalty and love. This sweet senior has a gentle, caretaker's heart. She bonds deeply with her people and will happily be your steady, loving shadow. Nana would prefer to join a home with stability and predictability. She can be a bit confused by new people entering the home. She is hoping for a patient, understanding home that will give her comfort, routine, and reassurance when she needs it. In return, she'll give you unconditional love and a calm, devoted companionship that only a senior dog can offer. Independent as well as affectionate, Nana is just as content to nap on the porch or lounge in the yard as she is to enjoy a car ride or a slow stroll. She walks beautifully on leash and loves to take in the world at her own pace. Sweet Nana joined us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after she was found as a stray.

Story
Dancer was left at a distant shelter as a under-aged puppy at 6 weeks old. He was dirty and timid so the shelter put him with Prancer cattle dog mix puppy also 6 weeks old. We rescued both of them and now they are doing great at their hero puppy foster home. They will get a great start since their foster home is also a trainer. Both are playful and adorable. Dancer seems to be the more outgoing one. More info. to come as they relax and learn. Dancer is more outgoing than Prancer Video from first 2 hours at their foster home. So cute. https://www.facebook.com/FFRescue/videos/1100628651741940 Update from Foster Home 1/3/25: Dancer has grown quite a bit and he is quite a busy guy. More active. He likes to cuddle but he also will wiggle out of your arms if he is full of energy. He can climb over the 2’ dog puppy pen. No cats. He has a confident and maybe sport dog type of personality. 10/30/25: Poor Dancer is now 1 year old and needs another foster home due to the foster home's 5 year grandson that visits often and even though Dancer grew up with kids coming over he now gets to excited and play nipped the grandson's ear. No broken skin but of course scared the kid and fh. Dancer needs a adult foster home that can guide him and understand cattle dog behaviors. Continue training. In the past he did attend a dozen puppy socials at Zoom Room. Great with other dogs. Now he has teenager energy and can get to excited in play. Need to guide him to calm and listen to commands. FB Video of Dancer and FH's dog playing. So sweet. https://www.facebook.com/FFRescue/videos/1685164315473825October 31, 2025, 12:29 am
