Story
Bruce came from the East County Animal Shelter in Dublin. He came home already potty trained and very friendly. He is very quiet and does not bark but loves to talk. He is very sweet and loves to jump up and give hugs. He loves seeing other dogs while on walks but can be very shy at dog parks. He is currently 1 year and 3 months old and about 80 pounds. We are looking for someone who has yard space since he loves to play. He is a super sweet puppy and is well mannered. He does have a bit of separation anxiety since he is still young but with the right person, he will be there to welcome you home. He is loyal, smart, energetic, and friendly with dogs and people of all ages.

Story
Meet Kahu! This gentle giant came to the Shelter as a stray and in some serious need of a confidence building. A wonderful team of foster parents stepped up to help this girl gather real world experience (aka hanging out in a home and learning how to dog). She is currently in a foster home with a family. She is still shy but has come SO FAR since coming into the Shelter. Kahu would thrive in a home with a dog savvy adopter, a fenced in yard and a social, confident resident dog. She is mastering house training thanks to her foster parent and access to a yard. She goes for daily walks and has even befriended some other dogs. Although she has not necessarily played - she is enjoying sharing trails along with the other pups. There is a dog-savvy rockstar of a child in her foster home who Kahu enjoys going on walks with. Kahu is looking to continue blossoming in an adoptive home. Could that be with you? Come schedule a meet and greet with her at the Shelter today. From 10/5 through 10/31, we are having a “Spooky Low Adoption Fees” promotion. All cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies will have a reduced adoption fee of $31, while small animals will have a fee of $13. No tricks, all treats!Come on in to meet your new BFF today at 1001 Rodriguez Street, Santa Cruz from 11-6pm. All adoptions are first come, first serve in person at the Shelter, and must be completed before 4:45pm

Story
Teddy is a very special boy who needs a very special adopter. Teddy spent a significant amount of his life as a stray dog and he takes a long time to build trust in new humans. Once he trusts you, he is a total love bug. While building trust, he prefers to watch from a distance. Teddy is very smart and wants to be part of a family. He loves to run the perimeter of his foster yard and enjoys being both inside and outside. Over the last few months, he has built enough trust with his foster that he now likes to sleep beside or on her bed. Teddy loves to play in water and has a fun game of dumping water bowls and buckets whenever the mood suits him. Teddy currently lives with several dogs (both large and small) as well as cats. He does very well with other animals and is very careful to be gentle with his 6 pound Chihuahua friend and kitty friends. He also gets along great with his 110 pound husky foster brother. Teddy loves long walks or hikes, playing with other dogs and getting brushed. He is still working on feeling comfortable on the leash, but has made some good improvements while in foster care. He is mild-mannered and loves to settle down to chew on a crinkly toy, bone, or antler. Teddy is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption. If you would like to meet Teddy to see if he is a good fit for your family, please fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Upon receipt of your application, one of our passionate volunteers will call you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet.

Story
Olla is a 2 year old Belgian Malinois. I got her at 4 months old from a family friend. Olla is such a devoted companion. She loves being anywhere with her person she doesn’t demand intense workouts, she has a blast with a ball being thrown or a run or walk or simply hanging around near you. She’s potty trained & great in car rides. She is extremely loyal which brings me to her behavioral issues, when someone gets near while in still position she does get aggressive. She also recently built a habit outdoors jumping on the walls to be let in the house. I am currently unemployed and do not have the funds to seek professional help. As much as I want to keep her a majority of this decision is based off my roommates who just do not want her here anymore and I can’t afford to go anywhere else. Olla is an amazing dog, very capable of learning and being trained. One has to understand her, gain her trust, and be patient. In return she will be such a devoted companion.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gentle-hearted ShepherdCoco is a 2.5 year-old Malinois / German Shepherd mix who weighs approximately 78lbs.  Coco is just a sweet, gentle-hearted boy. Curious, goofy, loving, and energetic - he loves everyone, and sees the best in them. Coco currently lives with two older 4-legged brothers and, while he would love to live with a fur-sibling, he is not part of a bonded pair. As long as he has fur friends to play with, Coco will be a happy boy! When playing with his human pals, Coco is very verbally responsive and wants to please. He knows several commands and loves to play complex games with his toys. When he gets a bit over-stimulated, he puts himself into a timeout under his foster family's kitchen table to rest and reset! Sweet Coco has been perfectly house trained since day one, loves car rides, loves to go for walks and is learning not to pull in excitement when he meets new friends - that is Everyone! Despite his size and youth, Coco does not need long hikes to manage his energy. 15-20 minutes a couple times a day and play sessions with his fur siblings are great exercise for Coco. Coco knows the benefit of "Sit", "Down" and "Touch" to get his favorite treats, and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. Check out Coco's profile on Rocky Kanaka! https://rockykanaka.com/one-leg-short-but-full-of-heart-a-german-shepherds-inspiring-escape-from-adversity/ Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.   Adoption fees for dogs: http://www.svpetproject.org/info/adoption Stay up-to-date on what our dogs are up to by following us on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/svpetproject Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 21, 2024, 5:45 pm
