hi Peach! This incredible lady is a 4 year Anatolian Shepherd. She was surrendered to our care with another Anatolian when their owner couldn't keep them anymore. She is 106 lbs. Peach is wonderful. She is gentle, sweet and happy. She loves being around people and enjoys lots of pets. She does well on the leash, allows all handling and is generally a very easy going lady. She does great with other dogs. Peach was adopted and then returned after nearly a year in her home when her owner's health began to decline. She will need to meet any resident dogs. She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, 4dx tested and dewormed. Rex is looking for a special home. He is part of a group of dogs all coming from the same home where they all lived outside and where very under socialized. We also now know there were occasional fights for food so we are listing him as no other dogs so he can live competition free. He is truly a gentle giant. He is a fish out of water here in the shelter. Everyone is showing him love and attention, but he isn`t sure what to make of that. He is definitely enjoying it. HIs future adopter has to keep all of this in mind and show Rex how great life can truly be. Things another dog finds normal are all strange to Rex. He has learned to walk nicely on leash but must be double leashed just in case something startles him. Staff would be happy to advise his potential adopter on tips and tricks to help Rex adjust to his new lifestyle.

Meet Mae, URGENT THIS SWEET GIRL WILL NOT DO WELL IN BOARDING, PLEASE HELP! 8 y/o - spayed (HW+ on treatment) apx 60 lbs No cats or very small dogs Foster says: Mae is a loving, loyal, and playful girl who was slated for euthanasia in an overcrowded NC shelter. Mae loves car rides and tearing apart stuffed toys. she always wants to be close by her person (but not quite on top of you). She knows basic commands and does well being bathed. She is well house trained and will communicate that she needs to go outside with restlessness, pointing, and whining. Mae is not vocal unless she has something she needs. She would love most to have access to a yard yet does wonderful in my apartment anyway. Most of her day is spent napping but she is quick to play with you when it is initiated despite her mild arthritis in her back legs. She is tolerant around other social dogs that are medium-large sized, but no small dogs, cats, etc. She will likely do best as the solo pet in the home in a calm, low-moderate activity household. Mae is currently located in a foster home in NC where she was saved and will be transported to the north/northeast when she has a forever home to go to, the foster is in school and can’t take with her.
