Story
Introducing Pokey Puppy!!! Pokey's estimated dob is May 2023.  He came to us in poor condition from one of the Central Valley shelters so had little hope of making it out.  Pokey has had good care and good groceries and has flourished.  He appears to be a short stack Cattle Dog mix given his coloration and some of his behaviors.  Pokey is still shy with new people and to some extent other dogs so patience will be needed for his transition.  Once he is comfortable, he is happy and playful.  Pokey has been learning about the wide world and walks the neighborhood everyday.  He will continue to need exposure and reassurance for outings as he matures,  along with solid training.  Pokey is currently 23-24 lbs and will most like be between 30-40 lbs at maturity.  He is a strong and active player so another sturdy playful pup would be good.  Pokey  sleeps in his crate at night.  He has also mastered the dog door.  And he is pretty much potty trained. Pokey's wishlist: 1.  Fenced yard 2.  Daily walks and activity 3.  No young children.  Older respectful children  4.  Continued training  5.  Patience and leadership 6.  A compatible playmate Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Adoption fees range from $350-$475 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us. We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!

Story
Rigby ended up at a shelter after being attacked by several others dogs. Although his injuries were not severe, it seems it has made him a bit untrusting at first. Once he is comfy with you, he is a sweet playful happy boy! Rigby's wishlist: 1. Secure yard/no apartments 2. Adult only home 3. A playful, well mannered dog companion under 30 lbs to play chase with 4. Herding breed experienced person 5. Daily walks, playtime and continued training are recommended 6. Possible adopters available for multiple meets Rigby is a sweet, medium energy cattle dog mix. He is thought to be approximately 3 1/2 years old and is currently 23 lbs. Rigby is playful and loves to play chase with other friendly dogs. He feels most comfortable with dogs who are similar in size to him or smaller. He does not enjoy rough play or overly rough dogs who like to wrestle or play fight. He enjoys going for walks and walks politely on a leash. He likes a yard to explore and play in and is an alert barker so no apartments for him. He is crate trained and housebroken in his foster home. Rigby seems to prefer women and can be somewhat intimidated by men. He does well with men who are gentle and understand the needs of a timid dog. He can be shy when meeting new people but has shown he will warm up with slow, gentle introductions and treats. Once he is bonded to a favorite person he is loyal, affectionate and sweet. He enjoys following his person around the house and yard. Children would overwhelm him so an adult only home is recommended. Rigby would do well in a quiet home with a friendly, confident dog companion to pal around with, help show him the ropes and keep him company while his humans are away from home. He would be best suited for a person who has the time, patience and understanding to help him continue to grow more confident and trusting. Rigby currently lives and gets along with dog savvy cats but he will challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. He will chase outdoor cats who enter the yard. Rigby is a sweet, funny little guy who is waiting for his forever home. Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Story
Meet Tio, the canine comedian of the shelter! This jovial jester is known for his playful antics and love for squeaky toys. One day, Tio decided to explore a local bakery, lured by the irresistible scent of fresh bread. He managed to sneak in, causing a hilarious ruckus among the bakers as he joyfully pranced around, squeaky toy in mouth. The bakers, unable to resist his charm, gave him a good-natured scolding before calling the shelter. Now, Tio is ready to bring his light-hearted humor to a forever home. He's the perfect companion for those who appreciate a good chuckle and a playful spirit! He can be selective with other dogs, so a slow introduction with any resident dogs is very important. A dog introduction will be required prior to taking him home. Adoption fee: $200

Story
Tessa is a pretty tan/w white female, with gorgeous eyes. She looks Pit Bull with maybe cattle dog She is a Heinz 57. Tessa is nearly 12 weeks old weighs 25 lbs. She is very playful with litter mates, other dogs and humans. One of our sanctuary dogs acts like she is Tessa and Tanners mother…it is adorable. Tessa, and siblings were left in a tub on our front porch. The puppies were starved for attention, and love human interaction. They are smart and taught themselves how to use doggie door quickly just by watching the other dogs. They don’t mind getting a bath or blow drying. They Love stuffed toys and squeaky toys and are affectionate puppies. They use potty pads at the sanctuary and will go outside to potty. We have started vaccinations and dewormed them as well as micro-chipped. She will be spayed when we are able to have that done. They are looking for a loving home now. Tessa is an affectionate, sweet and loving puppy. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. Story
Sutter is a 6 month old Cattle dog possibly mixed with something else. He was abandoned as a pup in the city of Sutter and found malnourished. He’s since been nursed back to health and is a happy, lovable dog. His rescuer wanted to keep him but he liked to chase their cats and his puppy-ness was just a little too much for them to handle being elderly with health conditions. Sutter is currently thriving in a foster home with 4 huskies. Sutter knows sit, plays well with other dogs of all sizes, great with kids, adjusts quickly, sleeps all night on his bed in his foster parents bedroom and learned to use the doggy door and potty outside within his first 24 hours. He’s very smart! And super loving! His foster parents are working on his jumping manners and walking on leash without pulling. Are you Sutters people?
