This is one beautiful, smart, loving dog!Young, short-haired, and medium size - see all his photos below.Gorgeous coloring, with a beautiful mottled red/white coat, with red ears to match his eye patch...He came with the name `Blondie` but we like to think of him as Red.Clearly an Australian Cattle Dog, this breed is known to be active, loyal, intelligent, trainable, and fearless.We think Red matches those criteria pretty well.He has a lot of energy coming out of his kennel (who wouldn't), but he settles in for a walk, play, rest, or cuddles (yes, he tries to be a lap dog).He hopped right into a car.Likes stuffie toys.Treat-motivated so very trainable.________________________He was taken on a day trip; here is the volunteer's report:`Blondie had a great day trip. He was nervous in the car's back seat but did better when I moved him to the front seat and clipped him in there, and decided he's small enough for front seat privileges anyway. He was awesome meeting people in Winters and especially loved my husband and two young boys he met at the park. He was non-reactive to dogs but seemed interested in playing, and ignored the cats we saw downtown. He can get spooked by loud noises and did not appreciate the generators running behind the food trucks. In general, he was a more laid back than the typical cattle dog but would appreciate an active family as he does have a lot of energy and athleticism. He tried to climb a fallen tree, went right into the water, and easily jumped over rocks when we were walking so I feel like he would excel at agility or dock diving.I'm in love.`________________________________This guy needs an active person, or family with older children. He needs something to do with his smarts and energy.Just come and meet him and you won't go home alone. All inquiries should be directed to the owner, not Yolo County Animal Services. Meet Layla, an energetic 3-year-old Husky / Australian Cattle Dog mix with a beautiful black, white, and tan coat. Layla has been with her current owner for about two years and is now looking for a new home because her owner will be traveling out of state for work and cannot take her along. Rufa  Layla is described as a smart, loyal, and affectionate dog who loves being around people. She enjoys walks, playing fetch, and spending time outdoors, and would do best with an active family or someone who enjoys outdoor activities. She also knows basic commands and responds especially well when treats are involved. Rufa-Yefremenkov Layla is friendly with children and generally enjoys meeting people. She can be a bit excited and may jump up when greeting, which is something she is still working on. She allows people to take toys or food from her without issue. Rufa-Yefremenkov On walks, Layla may growl at other dogs if they appear to growl at her, but her owner reports that she does well off-leash at dog parks once she is comfortable. She can be a little shy with new dogs at first but warms up and enjoys playing. Rufa-Yefremenkov Layla is not spayed but is current on vaccines. She has primarily spent several hours a day outside, and her potty-training status is unknown. Meet Sydney and Adelaide! Sydney and Adelaide are two beautiful 8 month old cattle dog girls who suddenly found themselves without a home when their owner experienced a medical emergency. With nowhere else to go, they were at risk of entering the shelter system but thanks to amazing fosters stepping up, Hearts For Paws was able to keep these sweet girls safe. Now Sydney and Adelaide are ready for their next chapter. These girls are wonderful with people and have been friendly with everyone they meet. They are also good with cats, crate trained, and potty trained - a pretty impressive résumé for two young pups! At just 8 months old, they still have plenty of puppy playfulness and energy, but they already have a great foundation. As cattle dogs, they are smart, eager, and will thrive with families who will keep them active, engaged, and included in everyday life. After an unexpected change in their world, Sydney and Adelaide deserve the security of loving homes where they can settle in, keep learning, and simply get to be happy young dogs again. Even though they are sisters, they don’t need to be adopted together. Adopted as a puppy through HFP back in 2020, Indigo is looking for a quiet, calm adult home as your one and only! ✅ no separation anxiety ✅ housetrained, crate trained ✅ wonderful base of basic training ✅ smart & trainable ✅ cutest submissive grin/wiggle butt when you come home ✅ moderate activity (relaxed inside but loves to fetch and play!) ✅ doing much better at car travel He was adopted as a 4 month old puppy through HFP but sadly returned 3 years later -- he is currently in a Sacramento Foster home but is really in need of a home of his very own as his foster cannot keep him forever. More about Isco: he has a great base of training and ready to impress you with all his cues, including: Sit, Wait/Stay, Bed, Crate, Down and Off. He walks well on leash and doesn’t pull a ton. He LOVES to sniff everything during his walkies aka Sniffaris ( but doesn’t stop to mark, only sniff). He would do best in a quieter neighborhood as very busy places can make him nervous. Moderate energy -- he loves playing fetch in the backyard and a long daily walk would be ideal for Isco. In the home he is relaxed and independent. He has lived with 2 small dogs in the past and may be able to make dog acquaintances with slow intros but does not have a ton of experience with other dogs at this time. He would do best as prince of the palace as a solo dog in the home. Indigo previously lived with a cat who he loved to play with but can chase other cats, he may do well in a home with a well-matched cat friends; we ALWAYS recommend slow intros into the home/early separation for cats/dogs as they get to know one another. Indigo has the CUTEST prance and loves to play fetch. He is treat motivated which makes continued training and intros to people much more of a breeze. Housetrained, Crate Trained, around 55 lbs. Neutered, Vaccinated, Vetted, ready to be yours! Indigo adoption donation is sponsored. You might be wondering what “sponsored” means. A dog is sponsored when their foster or a donor loves them so much that they cover the adoption donation for a future adopter. This in hopes that the pup finds his or her forever family ASAP!

She is good with adults and kids and has done well around children as young as 8. Frankie also does well around other dogs. She may not be the type to jump right into play, but she is comfortable being near them and happy to follow along. Frankie really seems to love being with her person. She is happiest getting ear scratches and tummy rubs and soaking up some one-on-one attention. She walks calmly on leash, hops right into the car on her own, and settles in for a nice nap on the ride. She also takes treats very gently, especially if they are something extra tasty.
