Story
Meet Schnapps! This energetic pup loves going on long walks and exploring new smells. He has an adorable high-pitched bark that he saves just for when you`re visiting him at his kennel he wants to make sure he is not overlooked - it`s the best way to know he`s excited to see you! Schnapps has a high-energy personality, always ready to go-go-go and burn off some steam. But despite his playful nature, Schnapps is also a super sweet mini cuddle bug who loves snuggling up close and giving gentle licks. He`s an intelligent pup who quickly picked up basic commands like `sit` and is eager to learn more. Schnapps takes a little extra time to sit down on command, but once he does, he`s happy to stay there for treats and snuggles. And when he rolls over for belly rubs, you know you`ve got a special bond with this furry friend! Does Schnapps sound like your purfect macth? He would love having a meet and greet with you!Schnapps recently met some social dogs at our shelter but he was too scared to enjoy the experience.  We hope that as he gets more experience in our shelter playgroups he`ll be ready to show us his silly side with other dogs.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. Story
Meet Snow Cone, a sweet 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix who`s looking for her forever home. At first, Snow Cone can be a little hesitant in new environments, but with gentle encouragement, she`ll gain confidence. She knows basic commands like `sit`, `stay`, and `come`, and responds well to positive reinforcement. Snow Cone has a special weakness for peanut butter treats and will do just about anything for them. When she`s not busy sniffing out snacks, Snow Cone loves to snuggle up on your lap and get belly rubs. She`s a true `lap dog` at heart! This sweet girl recently met some social dogs at our shelter.  She was fine hanging out with them but didn`t want to play and didn`t want the young puppies to be in her face.  We think she could enjoy a compatible dog friend in her new home if her family gave her some time to adjust and feel safe.Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out her playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. Story
Rigby ended up at a shelter after being attacked by several others dogs. Although his injuries were not severe, it seems it has made him a bit untrusting at first. Once he is comfy with you, he is a sweet playful happy boy! Rigby's wishlist: 1. Secure yard/no apartments 2. Adult only home 3. A playful, well mannered dog companion under 30 lbs to play chase with 4. Herding breed experienced person 5. Daily walks, playtime and continued training are recommended 6. Possible adopters available for multiple meets Rigby is a sweet, medium energy cattle dog mix. He is thought to be approximately 3 1/2 years old and is currently 23 lbs. Rigby is playful and loves to play chase with other friendly dogs. He feels most comfortable with dogs who are similar in size to him or smaller. He does not enjoy rough play or overly rough dogs who like to wrestle or play fight. He enjoys going for walks and walks politely on a leash. He likes a yard to explore and play in and is an alert barker so no apartments for him. He is crate trained and housebroken in his foster home. Rigby seems to prefer women and can be somewhat intimidated by men. He does well with men who are gentle and understand the needs of a timid dog. He can be shy when meeting new people but has shown he will warm up with slow, gentle introductions and treats. Once he is bonded to a favorite person he is loyal, affectionate and sweet. He enjoys following his person around the house and yard. Children would overwhelm him so an adult only home is recommended. Rigby would do well in a quiet home with a friendly, confident dog companion to pal around with, help show him the ropes and keep him company while his humans are away from home. He would be best suited for a person who has the time, patience and understanding to help him continue to grow more confident and trusting. Rigby currently lives and gets along with dog savvy cats but he will challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. He will chase outdoor cats who enter the yard. Rigby is a sweet, funny little guy who is waiting for his forever home. Story
Introducing Pokey Puppy!!! Pokey's estimated dob is May 2023.  He came to us in poor condition from one of the Central Valley shelters so had little hope of making it out.  Pokey has had good care and good groceries and has flourished.  He appears to be a short stack Cattle Dog mix given his coloration and some of his behaviors.  Pokey is still shy with new people and to some extent other dogs so patience will be needed for his transition.  Once he is comfortable, he is happy and playful.  Pokey has been learning about the wide world and walks the neighborhood everyday.  He will continue to need exposure and reassurance for outings as he matures,  along with solid training.  Pokey is currently 23-24 lbs and will most like be between 30-40 lbs at maturity.  He is a strong and active player so another sturdy playful pup would be good.  Pokey  sleeps in his crate at night.  He has also mastered the dog door.  And he is pretty much potty trained. Pokey's wishlist: 1.  Fenced yard 2.  Daily walks and activity 3.  No young children.  Older respectful children  4.  Continued training  5.  Patience and leadership 6.  A compatible playmate Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Story
Chowder (fka Cider) was adopted from us in 2022. Due to a change of circumstances, his mom can no longer provide him the attention he deserves. Chowder is about 3yrs old and around 30#. Here is a bit of info that describes him and what his mom feels would be his perfect home: Chowder is a great dog with plenty of energy but very happy to hang out on the couch with you. He is great with other dogs when introduced properly but would do best without cats. I don’t know how he is with kids but am sure he would be fine with older kids. Chowders eager to please and happy to learn. He would do well in an active household with or without other dogs. He would make a great running companion or road dog, ready for adventure. He is also super sweet and happy to lay in the couch with you. When left alone he has free range of the house and is fully potty trained but might be a little naughty when cooped up too long. His naughty is moving shoes around (not destroying them) or tearing up paperwork that’s left out. Story
Sam and Maggie are 1 year bonded siblings. Unfortunately, their owner landlord does not approve for these fantastic duo to be at the rental property, and the owner left with no choice but to make a heart wrenching decision to find them a new home. Sam and Maggie are loving, playful, loyal, and very bonded. Please consider welcoming them into your life and heart!
