CARLY is an independent pup, just investigates everything, wants to see what other pups are doing and loves to play and wrestle with the others. She loves to eat and reminds me when she is hungry. She is working on potty training. Her adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in meeting Carly, please fill out the adoption application on our website. www.foreverhomedogs.orgAll adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. - Tends to be a linebacker-type player with other dogs, which some dogs may not appreciate; will likely do best with a select group of rough-and-tumble dog friends with a similar play style (dog intro required) Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro recommended)- Needs a teens and above homeThis pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Story
We are a litter of 8, and our rescue story had lots of surprises! What started as a call to save 4 puppies quickly turned into a full-on puppy treasure hunt. Surprise! There were even more of us hiding under a storage container… and our sweet mama too! With some yummy food and gentle coaxing, we were all scooped up and brought to safety together. Now we’re warm, cozy, and living the good life with soft blankets—and we’re ready to find our forever families! We are happy, silly puppies who love zoomies, climbing on everything, chewing all the toys, and wrestling like tiny champions. When we finally wear ourselves out, we turn into snuggle pros and happily crawl into a lap for a nap. If you’re looking for nonstop fun, endless puppy kisses, and the best snuggle buddy around, we might just be your perfect match! Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Meet our Irish Folklore Litter — a group of ten enchanting red heeler/Labrador mix puppies who bring a little myth and a lot of joy with them. Named after legendary creatures from Irish folklore, this playful bunch is full of personality, curiosity, and charm. These pups are a wonderful blend of intelligence and energy from the red heeler side, paired with the affectionate, people-loving nature of a Lab. They’re social, adventurous, and eager to learn, making them great companions for active homes or families looking for a fun-loving addition. With ten puppies in the litter, you’ll find a mix of bold explorers, sweet snugglers, and everything in between. If you’re ready for a loyal best friend with a touch of magic, one of these folklore-inspired pups might be your perfect match. The Irish Folklore Litter will be available for visits (in-person or virtual) on Sunday, February 15 or after. They can be pre-adopted. They will be 8 weeks old and ready to go to their new homes on Saturday, February 28.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2649063##

Story
Hi, I’m Gabe! I’m a 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix, and shelter life has me feeling pretty anxious. I’m really hoping someone will bail me out so I can finally relax and let my true personality shine. Once I feel safe, I’m a very affectionate boy who loves being close to his person. I’ll do best in a calm home without other pets or small children, where I can settle in and build confidence at my own pace. With a little patience and love, I know I can be a loyal, loving companion. Maybe you’re the one I’ve been waiting for If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Story
Hi, I’m Jocko! I’m around 2 years old and best guessed to be an Australian Cattle Dog/Terrier mix. I have nothing but love to give, even though my life didn’t always look like this. Before coming here, I spent my days living on a short chain—but thankfully, I’ve been given a second chance at a much better life. I do well with other dogs and even cats when introductions are slow and proper. I’m a happy, affectionate guy who’s ready to enjoy the world. My only little quirk is that I can jump short fences, so I’ll need leash walks or a taller fenced yard. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s excited to finally live life to the fullest, I’m your guy If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment.
