Story
Say hello to Ripley! Ripley would love someone to go at her pace. She is timid at first, but once she gets to know you, she is a lover. Ripley would thrive in a home with an experienced owner who understands her breed. She has been around dogs in the past and did well with slow introductions. Ripley is not a fan of cats. She would prefer a home without them. Slow and proper introductions to resident pets and children are always recommended when bringing a new animal into the home. Ask a TCHS staff for tips on how to ease the transition. Ripley loves to play fetch. She is a high-energy gal who enjoys running and playing with her people. She would love to have durable toys to chew on and keep her entertained. Patient and consistent training using treats is a good way to work on obedience cues. Ask a TCHS staff about training and suggestions for the perfect toy for your new friend from the TCHS Re-Tail Shoppe. *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling 320-252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee. **Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

Story
Hi, I’m Max! 🐾 I’m a playful, devoted, slightly quirky guy with a big heart and an even bigger love for my people. This past year has been a lot for me—my owner passed away last summer and I’ve had a couple big life changes since then. I’m the kind of dog who really likes routine, so I’m hoping my next home is one where things feel steady and safe. Once I settle in, I promise I’ll be the most loyal sidekick you could ask for. A trainer once described me in the funniest (and most accurate) way: I think I’m the lifeguard at the pool… but I don’t know how to swim. Basically, I sometimes feel like it’s my job to keep an eye on things and make sure everyone is okay. When new people show up or we meet someone on a walk, I just need my person to reassure me that everything’s under control. I’m a sensitive soul like that. At home, I’m happiest just being near my people. I don’t always need to cuddle—I just like hanging out in the same room, supervising life. That said, I do have some very strong opinions about personal space… mainly that your space is also my space if I decide it’s time for pets. 😄 I LOVE to play! Fetch and tug are my absolute favorites, and sometimes I try to play both games at the same time (I’m an innovator). Chewy bones, toys, and a good game are the fastest way to my heart. Another great way to win me over? Play with me! I’m all in. When you come home, get ready for the most enthusiastic greeting you’ve ever seen. I take my welcoming duties very seriously. I’ll also happily patrol the yard for squirrels, follow you around the house to keep track of you, and occasionally steal a tissue if you leave one unattended. Finder’s keepers. I can be a little slow to warm up to new people, but once I decide you’re one of my favorites, I’m incredibly affectionate and devoted. In the evenings, when I’m sleepy, I may give you a very dramatic side-eye if you disturb my beauty rest—but that’s just part of my charm. I do have some dog friends, but meeting new dogs can be unpredictable for me, and I appreciate people who let me take introductions at my own pace. I also bark when someone new comes to the house—just making sure the situation is under control! (Treats help me realize everything is okay.) What I’m really looking for is a patient, loving home that understands sensitive dogs and will help me feel secure again. In return, you’ll get a goofy, loving, loyal companion who will always keep track of you, play with you, and greet you like you’re the best thing that’s ever happened. Basically… I’m your lifeguard. Even if I’m still learning how to swim. 🐶💛

Story
Meet Jackson 🐾 Jackson is a striking Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix born in 2017 with a big personality and an even bigger heart for the right person. He’s an intelligent, high-drive “alpha” type who thrives best as the only pet in the home, where he doesn’t have to compete for attention. Jackson can be the jealous type and prefers a calm, adult household without children, as busy environments can make him uneasy. He especially bonds well with women, who have a wonderfully calming effect on him and help him feel safe and secure. This loyal guy does best with an experienced dog owner who understands working breeds and can provide structure, consistency, and mental stimulation. In return, Jackson offers devotion, companionship, and a deep one-on-one bond that’s truly special. If you’re looking for a smart, loyal companion and can offer a quiet home where Jackson can be your one and only, he may be the perfect match for you. ************************************************ Fine Print: All dogs of NWMNAR are screened at the headquarters in Ada, Mn until they are vetted. They are then transferred to foster homes throughout MN and some into ND so they can get used to lifestyles with a family in a home. Adoption fee for an adult dog is $300 + Mn tax. Adoption fee for a dog over 3 years of age is $300 + Mn tax., pup/dog1 year to 3 years is $400 + Mn tax. Under 1 year of age $500 + Mn tax. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NMA/Dog. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet and greets will take place in a public setting along with the adoption if compatible. Dogs can be met in Ada, MN weekday and weekends, or in our alternate office location in Maple Grove, MN on weekends only. Once we receive your submission, our application review team will be in touch with you. Please have patience while they look over your application.

Story
Have you been feeling lonely and lost? Is your house too quiet, too clean? Do you find yourself thinking ‘I would like really like to raise a puppy!’ Lloyd is for you! He is a puppy in every sense of the word: he loves to chew, explore, run, jump, play with other dogs, the cat, people, … and did we mention chew? Lloyd was born in December 2025, and currently weighs about 25#. He is an Australian Cattle Dog mix named for the horse trainer who found him living on a farm. He was the last puppy from his litter and was living with horses and other dogs. His friendly, happy, social demeanor was impossible to miss, and he quickly hitched a ride into rescue. Maybe his floppy ears and diamond of blue in one eye helped him stand out? He has taken his new chapter in stride and now lives with kids, cats, people and dogs in a busy household. Lloyd is a very social puppy who loves everyone, happily greeting visitors to the home and effortlessly charming them. He has puppy energy (go-go-go-nap!) and learns quickly. He walks nicely on a leash and has been practicing his “town manners” when out and about. Even though Lloyd is a busy guy learning about the world, he crates well at night and is content and relaxed in the house. He likes to hang out where the people are with a chew toy, or watching activities in the kitchen, patiently waiting for someone to drop food. The perfect companion for a herding-dog savvy person, couple or family, Lloyd wants to take obedience classes and be part of lots of activities. He loves playing ‘farm agility’ and will be great at any dog sport or as the sidekick to an active human. He’s a handsome guy who is ready to do all the things with his person! Lloyd is being fostered in St. Joseph, MN. Lloyd's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax. He is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. He will be neutered and microchipped at the age of 6 months at one of the vet clinics we work with: the cost of this procedure is included in his adoption fee. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Story
Meet Caius AKA Cookie! Caius is an energetic boy whose favorite thing is running. He has a history of jumping clear over fences, so we think supervised outdoor time would suit him best. Caius will gladly spend the night in bed with you holding your hand. Caius has met other dogs and children in the past and did great with them. He has met other animals including cats and has been a little too excited around them. He is known to chase them, but we think this is a playful reaction. Slow and proper introductions to resident pets and children are always recommended when bringing home a new pet. Ask a TCHS staff member for more information. Caius would love to have durable toys to chew on and keep him entertained. Patient and consistent training using treats is a good way to work on obedience cues.
