Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Sweet Luna came to our rescue with puppies. She was an incredible momma. All of her pups have since been adopted but she is still patiently waiting on someone to call her their girl. She loves walks and just discovered how much she loves the sand volleyball court! This sweet girl came to DASH fearful and shy with little confidence. She has made great strides in the DASH Prison Training Program. Her handler says " Luna is better than a good pet, she's a good friend and a great roommate". When you wake up, she's looking at you like "What are we going to do today?", but she is not afraid to be alone either. She will do best with a person who responds in a calm, relaxed approach. She is highly intelligent, affectionate and loyal and attaches quickly to one person. She loves everyone though. She's a great dog who just needs a chance with a family that has time for her. She will need time to decompress, with love and patience to show her she is safe and part of the family. Luna is not cat-friendly but is sociable with other dogs, just not puppies. She has not been "kid tested" so proper meet & greets are always in order. We are excited and anticipate Luna finding her perfect home. Rescue Luna and she'll rescue you. Apply today!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2025, 5:09 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Caden is a young Heeler mixed who loves everyone.  His trainer says he is very bright, affectionate and a happy pup.  He loves cuddling and taking naps with his person but only after a good fetch session or a brisk walk.   Caden is a calmer boy who has lower energy and very affectionate with his humans.  He is friends with everyone and all dogs.  Caden is housetrained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash.  He is currently in the DASH prison program where he is working on basic training skills to make him the best dog for his future family.  He is very food motivated which has made him easy to train however, he can be food aggressive and doesn't know when to stop eating.  Due to his current foster placement he has not been introduced to children of any age or cats, so proper introductions to both are needed.  If Caden sounds like your perfect match then apply today to meet him at https://dashrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoptionVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 21, 2025, 3:37 pm

Story
Piglet (affectionately known as Piggie) is a handsome 8-year old male Pit Bull Terrier/Red Heeler mix who came to the HSOV during the overnight/early morning hours on January 26, 2024 when he was placed in one of our outside kennels near the front door of our shelter. Piglet was wearing a collar but, unfortunately, there was neither an id tag nor a dog tag on his collar ... And he was not microchipped. No information was left with Piglet, so we don't know if someone found him as a stray or whether his owner left him with us for some unknown reason. Piglet has a white short smooth coat with beautiful red/brown ticking and a large brown patch on his right side, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with amber-colored eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large floppy ears. Piglet might possibly have some Pointer ancestors in his family tree since at first glance he appears to have physical traits of that breed .. But he never went 'on point' when HSOV Kennel Tech Bradyn Morris helped him with this photo session on the afternoon of February 3, 2024. Piggie was full of energy and ready for 'fun-and-games' or an extra-long walk instead of posing for boring still-life pictures, but he humored us with a few great poses. Piglet weighs 64.2 lbs and is strong on the other end of a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Piglet was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody called or came looking for this magnificent boy. We've learned that Piglet was actually left in the outside kennel by his family :( .. And his real name is Brutus. An individual who was a friend of the family provided information about Brutus. He is NOT good with children (especially when food is involved), and he is NOT good with cats since he will cause mortal harm to them. Piglet aka Brutus is tolerant of other dogs. He does best with those who tend to leave him alone and aren't 'in his face'. We had listed Piglet's age as being 2-3 years old when he was first posted. We learned later that he was older than we originally believed and was likely 8-years old when he was left at our shelter. Piglet would love to find a fabulous home with someone special (possibly as an ‘only child’). He will be neutered before an adoption is finalized but could be fostered while he is awaiting that procedure.

Story
The Wine Litter was born 11/9/25 and can go home with adopters starting 1/4/26.  Their mom is an australian cattle dog/heeler. Dad's breed is unknown, but we suspect they have some shar pei in them. We expect the puppies to be large size once full grown.  This litter will not be suited for electric fences or apartments.  Adoption fee is $400. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, flea and heartworm current. Apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet and greet can be set up once approved.  ##2579843##
