Easy going? Yep. Big and small dog friendly? You bet! Smart? Oh yeah! If you have made it this far, let us introduce you to.......Monty Moo Cow! This super cutie has a soft and snuggly thick coat, PERFECT house manners and the sweetest habit of holding his toys with his paws while he nibbles on them. He’s a happy-go-lucky lover boy with an affinity for smooching! We think Monty is an Australian Cattle Dog, Labrador mix. He is a rescue, so these are just our best guesses! We estimate his age to be just over a year old, and he currently weighs in around 67 pounds. Perfect portable size! Fall in love with Monty here: https://youtu.be/T4h7I8O-E2Q?feature=shared Monty is currently fostered in a loving home with two big pitties and two tiny chihuahuas. Small dog friendly! He does well with everyone in the house- playful with the younger playful pups, and respectful with the older, slower dogs. Here at the rescue, he did wonderfully with the other dogs he met. He was a good sport with our playful big dogs, playful, forgiving and sweet. In his forever home, we think Monty would be happiest with a medium to low energy tolerant dog that will play at times, but respect Monty’s medium energy. He settles well after playtime, and plays in short bursts before settling. His foster mom describes him as calm, a very good boy, and a fast learner. Here at the rescue we saw a huge improvement in his leash skills in just a few moments of work- he really is such a fast learner. Monty is treat motivated too, and a gentle treat-taker. Monty is really sweet the moment you meet him. He can be a little unsure and shy at first, but soft voices and a few treats warm him up quickly. He loves to snuggle his foster mom, and even sat in our laps here at the rescue. Such a sweet boy! Monty is a total toy lover too! It’s impossibly cute to watch, he likes to hold his toy in his paws and chew, or chase the toy as you toss it. Knowing Monty’s gentle and sweet personality, we think he would enjoy residential or suburban life more than city life. He could live with other dogs, but we don’t recommend him for a home with kitties. We think he could do well as a family dog with kids over ten years old! We are willing to test Monty with anything you need us to in order to ensure he is the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know. Meet Bronco! He is currently 16 weeks old and we think he may be a Cattle dog / Pit mix but with rescue it’s always a guess! This puppy is from a part of the US where puppies are regularly euthanized. So, this puppy needs you! If you choose a puppy from this rescue, it saves their life AND it also allows us to save the life of another in its place. Watch Bronco's video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ_mR7IAi4M Bronco is currently in a loving foster home and loves to play. He has the most adorable big ears. He loves toys and his happy place is next to you getting belly scratches. This handsome boy wants to be your very best friend! Bronco is still young so he will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. Bronco's new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy. When old enough, they will be perfect to go on walks and hikes or show off around your neighborhood. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health. *To fully vet a dog in the PNW or the NE at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Story
**Currently Fostered in Portland!** Sweet girl Wenatchee. She is the social butterfly who will love you your dogs, your cat your kid anybody and everybody. She is a little over a year old so still has that puppy energy but over the potty training phase!. She is a cutie and tiny girl, only weighing about 30 lbs! Wenatchee is a very intelligent dog. Her DNA test found that she is Australian cattle, Australian Shepherd, German Shepherd, poodle and Chihuahua. The chihuahua keeps her small! She’s so fun to train because she loves to learn and loves to make you happy. She catches on so well with new tricks and has been really getting my personal favorite, which is heal. Wenatchee loves cuddles and nothing more than to be around you when at home. She loves to play and would do best with another dog to play with in the home . Her being part working dog she will need mental stimulation as she loves to job. A dream home for Wenatchee would be someone with another moderate or high energy dog or dogs, a kid and family that has time to training her. Her foster mom is working with her to be calm in the home and let the crazy be outside. Wenatchee isn’t to keen on loud noises, mainly being buses semis those kinds of noises so is not the best fit for the busy city life or apartment living, she would much prefer to live in a home with a yard. She is a great fit for someone who loves to hike, run, or keep busy outside! Story
This is Poppy and she is the perfect example of why rescue is our favorite breed! Can we tell you what her actual breed is? Absolutely not! But, we can tell you she is a one-of-a-kind, adorably unique little slice of canine perfection who just so happens to be looking for her very own fur-ever. With a love for splash-pads, heart-eyes for dog-friendly cats, a great doggie-playmate, prepackaged with a handful of tricks and some great house manners, its easy to see why her name is Poppy Perfection! In rescue we cannot guarantee age of breed and thank goodness this isn’t a pop quiz in breed characteristics because Poppy might be the final boss. We see cattle dog, chow, pointer…? Please, if you adopt this girl, share the DNA results when you get them, we know your curiosity will drive you to wanting to know and we do too! We estimate she is shy of a year old and she currently weighs 42 lbs, which is anticipated to be within the range of her full grown size. Take a look then come back to read more about Poppy. https://youtu.be/HScgD7gWS2w Poppy is so fortunate and is currently in a dedicated foster home, with an awesome doggie friend who she gets to regularly learn skills alongside, explore the local parks, and of course- review in all the splash pads. Her foster praises her for being an easy addiiton to their home and routine, including sharing that she is house and crate trained! On top of that Poppy has taken to learning new commands beautifully! She is treat motivated and very attentive which means she is a captive audience for training sessions. Poppy knows sit, down, here, and spin and is ready to learn more! An ideal home for Poppy would be a home with a yard, a doggie companion who enjoys playing-but not constantly, with a family or individual who enjoys walks, hikes or the occasional jog. When meeting new dogs Poppy is polite and has good doggie manners but prefers to take it slow. Her foster shared it took Poppy a few days with her personal dog before they started playing together but once they did it was a fast, easy friendship. Given this, a dog that won’t mind a new roommate who needs to unpack before the fun begins would be best. A pushy dog that is all go and play is fun but not Poppy’s vibe, she has an independent side and feels comfortable doing her own thing so a constant playmate would be too much. Naps in the grass and solo enrichment puzzles are just as important as play for Poppy. When it came time to meet our house cat we all got to enjoy the adorable and immediate connection Poppy had with our house cat Biggie. We had only spent the afternoon with Poppy and had seen her with dogs and people, enjoying herself but with the cat she really sparkled! Cats can be such a variable but from her interactions with our house cat we would consider Poppy cat-tolerant with potential for a feline-friendship with a dog savvy/friendly cat. If you haven’t watched her video or didn’t watch long enough to truly see the connection, please go back and do that- it is too cute! Poppy is clearly an adorably unique girl with a sweet and gentle heart. We know she is going to be a dream addition to one lucky home. ~~THIS DOES IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT ksherman91@live.com  THANK YOU ~~ REHOMING: in Whatcom county, WA-Frankie is a 5year old Blue Heeler. Frankie is a good boy with a sweet heart. He loves his humans and is a great watch dog. He loves outdoor time and playing fetch with a ball or a frisbee. He is the first to greet you when you get home and is sad to see you leave. He is potty trained and incredibly smart, but also a little stubborn. He knows many commands but tests his independence sometimes when off leash.  Frankie is an only dog and would prefer to stay that way. He does well on leash but when he crosses other dogs' paths he tends to bark or try to show dominance. With consistent walks I believe this could be corrected. He loves going on adventures and walks.  He has lived with cats his whole life and is gentle with them but as a cattle dog he tends to herd them.  Frankie is roughly 50 lbs and has medium length black and white hair. He is not neutered.  I do imagine he might take a short amount of time to  acclimate to his new surroundings and people since he has been with us his whole life, but once he gets to know you he will show his affection. , ##2205185##

We have had Memphis since he was 6mos old, he's now around a year old. He gets along great with children; living with a range of 4 to 11 year olds. Gets along great with other dogs and cats as well. Memphis needs a lot more physical activity than our busy family is able to give him. An ideal family would have some property for him to run on, or make frequent trips to a dog park.
