Story
Montana (aka Pete) is a six year old mini aussie mix that weighs 30 pounds.  He is a bashful, happy, friendly, very sweet fellow that needs a quiet, stable home.  Montana gets along well with other dogs and is so mild mannered I assume he is OK with cats too.  He loves kids and travels well.  Montana is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and is on monthly flea and heartworm preventive.  His tax deductible adoption fee is a donation to the rescue in the amount of $500.September 2, 2025, 9:45 am

Story
LOWER FEE! Such wonderful puppies these Aussie mixes are! Darby is a 5-month-old Aussie mix who needs some help though. Born in rescue with her 7 siblings, Darby was a happy girl, living and playing with her littermates. Transporting her to her adoptive home several hundred miles away was a traumatic experience for Darby, and she arrived terrified of everyone she meets. Because she expresses her fear by lashing out, we feel a home with no children is appropriate, at least until she gets past this period. We are hoping for a home in the PA/NJ area, as we work with a trainer in Doylestown, PA who will continue to assist to acclimate her into her new home. (Working with your own trainer is also an option. we are confident that this is fixable with a little work) We need a special, patient person for this girl while she works through her issues. (update: 1/24/25 ME) Adoption Fee $150- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport, if needed: $100 **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **February 24, 2026, 4:20 pm

Story
Marmaduke is a big goofy lovebug! He adores children and other dogs. He is very curious about cats and chickens and is probably best in a home without those (or where he can be separated from them). He is only about 1 year old and has been in rescue all his life. He had a medical issue as a puppy that required surgery and he is completely healed from that. He will do best in a home with a secure fenced yard, another dog or dogs to play with that are not tiny since he's so big, and respectful animal-loving children that will love him as much as he loves them. If you are interested in Marmaduke, please fill out an application at our website: forrescue.net He is fostered in the Huntsville, AL area and could be available for transport but transport fees are on top of the adoption fee.

Story
This sweet Australian shepherd mix may be heartworm positive, but don’t let that scare you away. Heartworm is treatable, and with proper care, love, and a little patience, dogs like Ranger go on to live long, happy, tail-wagging lives. While not much is known about Ranger since he was a stray pickup, what I have learned during his time in foster is that he is a kind and gentle soul, a true gem of an Australian shepherd. He is calmer than most but enjoys a good walk. He is housetrained, learning commands and in his foster home he lives with cats and another dog. He will come to you for pets and fully enjoys having his ears scratched. He is crate trained and sleeps in his all night with no issues. He rarely barks. On walks he has been exposed to traffic, other dogs, random loud noises, charging dogs, ducks, geese and people. He just walks on with no concern. He does like to approach people and sit for pets though. The vet feels he is not yet two years old, and he weighs in at 51 pounds. He has been neutered and has all his vaccines and his first shot for HW treatment.

Story
Introducing Ruger (A565134) to our followers! Ruger arrived as a stray just over a week ago, and at first he was understandably overwhelmed. He came in shut down and very protective of his kennel space, unsure of everything around him. With patience and steady work from our kennel staff, those walls slowly started to come down.Once he felt safe, Ruger truly opened up. What we found is a fun loving, people oriented dog who bonds closely with his humans. He loves being outside, playing, and especially chasing a ball (he is still perfecting the “bring it back” part of fetch, but he is enthusiastic about the effort). He also loves toys and is always ready for a little play session. Ruger is showing signs of house training and keeps his space tidy, which is a great start for his future home. He is also working on the command “sit” and is catching on nicely. He has been tested with female dogs and has done fine. It is likely he did not have much previous interaction with other dogs, so he can sometimes struggle to read their cues, but he does seem interested in play and may continue to improve with guidance and proper introductions.Ruger has made wonderful progress in a short amount of time and is now in our adoption area, ready for a fresh start. If you are looking for a loyal companion who just needed someone to believe in him, Ruger is ready to go home. ??Ruger is guesstimated to be 3 years old and weighs 54 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative.Ready to meet Ruger? Just stop by our shelter and head to our dog areas. You can find him in kennel D27. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID.
