Story
Meet Oso: Professional Zoomie Expert A 4-year-old dog who somehow missed the memo about slowing down with age. He has the energy of a puppy and the enthusiasm to match. The moment he hits the yard, the zoomies kick in and it’s pure joy at full speed—sometimes straight into you because brakes are optional when you’re this excited. He’s an absolute blast to be around and brings nonstop smiles with his playful, goofy spirit.Oso loves chasing the ball and thinks fetch is the best game ever, even if he prefers when you do most of the retrieving. He’s a big, happy boy who adores people and enjoys car rides, making him a fun companion for adventures. Treats are the way to his heart, and he’s eager to show off his sit and lay down when snacks are involved.Because Oso can get overstimulated, he may be jumpy or mouthy when his excitement peaks. He’s also been noted to have some leash and barrier reactivity and can feel anxious when left alone, so continued training, structure, and patience will be important for his success. With the right guidance and an active home, Oso’s sweet personality and playful energy truly shine. He’s a joyful, affectionate goofball looking for someone ready to help him polish his manners while enjoying life at full speed.Oso has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. Story
Rocky is a handsome Australian Shepherd with a tender heart and a story of resilience. Having come from an abusive past, Rocky needs time, patience, and understanding to build trustâ&#194&#128&#194&#148but once that bond forms, it is incredibly rewarding. He has been thriving in his foster home for the past two and a half months, where consistent care has helped him come out of his shell. While he may be timid when meeting new people, Rocky is a true sweetheart who blossoms with a calm, gentle approach and will need a slow, relationship-focused adoption process. In his foster home, Rockyâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s wonderful personality shines. He is intelligent, loyal, cuddly, playful, and deeply devoted to the people he trusts. Rocky is highly treat and affection motivated and is already learning commands like sit and (lay) down. He is crate trained and mostly house trained, does well on road trips, and continues to make steady progress with walking nicely on a leash. Rocky enjoys engaging with his people and takes pride in pleasing them, making him a great companion for someone who appreciates a smart dog eager to learn and connect.Rocky does well with his female foster dog friend, happily sharing toys and space without any signs of aggression, though his comfort with male dogs is unknown. Rocky has lived with 4 cats, but he does tend to chase them. He has never hurt them. We recommend a very slow introduction with proper training so both Rocky and the cats can be comfortable in the home. True to his herding instincts, Rocky enjoys keeping watch over his home, alerting to visitors with a strong bark and shooing wildlife off of the property without aggression. He has done well meeting visitors and often relaxes enough to accept pets or share the couch, with time. Rocky prefers the company of teens or adults, has limited experience with young children, and would thrive in a home with a securely contained large yard or property where he can safely explore and feel at ease. If you are interested in committing to the gradual adoption process Rocky requires, his foster family is available to facilitate the multiple in-home meetings he may need. Rocky will need time to become comfortable, build trust, and form a connection through several visits. If this is something you are willing and able to pursue, please contact El Dorado County Animal Services (530) 621-5795January 20, 2026, 2:58 pm
