Her journey hasn’t been easy—this brave girl was found curled up under a bush during freezing temperatures, trying to stay warm. Though she was elusive at first, all we found were signs of her gentle spirit: a blanket, a Milk-Bone, and some food left behind. Not long after, Stowa made her way to the shelter—and she’s been winning hearts ever since. Stowa is truly a wonderful, wonderful girl. She greets everyone with the sweetest energy and the goofiest, most heart-melting grin, often showing off her pearly whites in the most charming way. She walks beautifully on a leash, is food motivated, and absolutely loves other dogs. Despite her rough start, Stowa has shown nothing but kindness, resilience, and joy. She’s looking for a forever home filled with warmth, love, and maybe even a doggy friend or two. If you’re searching for a loyal companion with a sweet soul and a silly smile, Stowa is ready to bring sunshine into your life. Come meet her—you’ll be smitten in no time. Story
Meet Blue, a vibrant three-year-old Australian Shepherd from Severance, CO, whose heart is as boundless as her energy and whose dazzling blue eyes are just the beginning of her charm! At 47 pounds of playful spirit and unwavering loyalty, Blue is a classic Aussie through and through—smart, active, and deeply attached to her people. She's the kind of dog who insists on sleeping at your feet (or preferably curled right next to you in bed), and she lives for those heartwarming moments of connection—whether it’s cuddling on the couch or zooming across the yard in a burst of happy energy. Blue thrives in the great outdoors and would be thrilled to find a family who loves hiking, jogging, or tossing a frisbee on a sunny afternoon. She knows “sit” and “stay,” and while she hasn’t had formal training, her eagerness to please makes her a wonderful candidate for learning even more, especially through positive reinforcement and routine. Her ideal home? One where she can be the center of attention. Blue does not do well with other animals or young children, so she’ll need to be the one and only fur-child in a home where adults understand her boundaries and are ready to give her the one-on-one love she needs. With no other pets competing for her attention, Blue blossoms into a loving, affectionate shadow who simply wants to be with her people every step of the way. She’s house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all her vaccinations. Her coat is stunning—a classic tricolor Aussie with a silky sheen—and only needs professional grooming a couple of times a year. She handles short separations well, though she'd really prefer to be wherever you are, living life side-by-side. Blue is more than ready for a fresh start in a calm, dog-free environment where she can shine. She has so much love to give and is ready for her next home filled with patience, adventure, and plenty of belly rubs. Could Blue be the one to light up your life with loyalty, laughter, and long hikes? If your heart and home are ready, reach out today and discover the joy of life with Blue!May 1, 2025, 4:18 pm

Story
Junie, Australian Shepherd/Heeler, 4.5 yrs., 35 lbs. Junie is a very loving and loyal dog. She is the boss and loves keeping Cooper in line. She likes to go on walks and explore with him. She gets along with other dogs great, but she will growl when she has had her fill. She will not nip or bite. She is a bit more relaxed and laid back than Cooper, but still loves to play around with him. She also is a bit of an attention hog. She will stare through your soul until you acknowledge her. She is very in tune with human emotion and will snuggle with you when you are sad. She’s a very sweet soul. She also may be more human than dog. Cooper, Blue Heeler, 4.5 yrs., 40-45 lbs. Cooper tends to be shy at first but warms up pretty quick. He has a lot of energy and loves playing with Junie going on walks and exploring with her. He LOVES attention. He is a very loving and loyal dog with the silliest personality. I think he may be more human than dog. He gets along with other dogs but does take a minute to acclimate to them. He loves to give kisses (I think he was a lizard in his past life…hahaha). They are a bonded pair. They have grown up together and I would hate to separate them. They are soulmates and I would love for them to stay together. I understand that this is a lot to ask, but they are so worth it! We are having to re-home them due to a move across the country. This means we will be living out of a small camper and traveling all over the southeast. I don’t feel that this is a fair life for my pups to live. They love to run and play and wouldn't get this freedom if they come with us.

Story
Tucker! The incredible, 8 month old, Aussie! Tucker is a product of a Merle/merle breeding which left him with tiny eyeballs (microphthalmia) and limited hearing. He doesn’t let his vision and hearing impairments impact him in the slightest. Tucker is a typical, playful, happy puppy! He is great with kids and other dogs, and LOVES squeaky toys. He is always game for a walk around the neighborhood or a trip to the park. Tucker is super smart and learns new skills quickly. He loves to snuggle! He is both house trained and crate trained, and sleeps quietly through the night. He will make an amazing dog for pretty much anyone, and has so much love to give! Tucker is being fostered in Northglenn, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/tucker/. Story
Allow us to introduce you to the canine Paul Newman. He’s ever so aptly named. Paul is a 4.5-5 month-old Australian Shepherd mix. He has STUNNING blue eyes that look right into your soul. Paul spent the last couple months of his life in a very small, underfunded, shelter in Texas with his littermates. Since springing the clink, Paul has been settling into his foster home. He very much enjoys the company of other dogs and derives much confidence from them. We feel he will be most successful in a multi-dog home. Paul is very, very sweet and once he gets to know you, he enjoys all the snuggles. He is quite playful with a dash of a mischievous streak and has proven to be quite smart as he learned the doggie door in just a few days. Paul Newman is being fostered in Black Hawk, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/paul-newman/. You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.
